Call me crazy if you want to but I kind of always thought that ASAP was going to be the 4th of the Mount Rushmore of modern Hip Hop (Drake, Kendrick, Cole.) Other rappers were competing for the charts whilst he was messing around with fashion and women and got left behind... it's that simple really. He's often bickered about hating hit songs and it's come to bite him in the end because at the end of the day these hit songs help define your character and make you iconic, and Rocky refused to build on it. He had a formula in the early 10s and ditched it for something less interesting by 2015 and ultimately ended up having no identity by 2018. He had plenty of time to build a legacy and didn't want to focus on his music career properly. The Testing album he dropped got poor reviews and wasn't commercially successful outside of one single and he didn't make the effort to bounce back whatsoever. Instead he just decided to date Rihanna and ditch music. I have very little respect for him. I used to rate him super highly, but it became clear over time he wasn't that dude despite the talent. He still gets a bit of attention on TikTok for his older music particularly the cloud rap, but it's clear the music he made in 2018 was forgotten outside of the obvious Praise the Lord single. If Rocky ever wants to make a serious comeback I'll eagerly await it, but he's gonna have to completely change up from the bullshit he's doing now and he's gonna have to let go of that relationship. Travis and Carti left their famous girlfriends and are doing better than ever. At the end of the day celebrity relationships are tabloid bullshit that real people don't give a shit about. Rocky needs to move on and resume the cloud rap movement he was supposed to pioneer in the early 2010s. His voice isn't as good as it was a decade ago, but he can still pull a tune if he puts the effort in.

Rocky fell off long ago... I remember back in 2011-12, I was like... "this dude was going to be the next big thing" when I heard the Live. Love. ASAP. mixtape. Rocky was just on a different level to every other rapper at the time. Beats, charisma, flow, all pristine. Yams really made a star. Then Fuckin' Problems was huge, and I was thinking, he can only go up from here (he caught the mainstream attention, now he needs to compound). Problem is, he didn't. What happened is, he landed a hit song and never capitalised on it, and then went onto hating on said hit song years later. Fuckin' Problems (which I know wasn't originally his song too) wasn't better than his mixtape songs, but certain adjustments had to be made for him to attract the general public. While Live. Love. ASAP was dope, it was too low budget to attract the mainstream. Fuckin' Problems helped push him a little out of the hood persona by collabing with mainstream artists, and made him a bit more attractive and marketable. I was hoping Rocky was going to use that image moving forward, but he rebranded immediately after. He released a goofy song - Wild For The Night with Skrillex which aged like milk, and then the next single Fashion Killa was goofy as well and flopped commercially (didn't chart) and seemingly wasn't marketed properly at all, and then Long. Live. ASAP had no singles after that that touched the mainstream (can't say songs gaining traction on TikTok count). Rocky's image just wasn't that "Fuckin Problems" image, that suited him. So past summer 2013 Rocky lost a lot of buzz, he was MIA in 2014 pretty much, and by mid 2015 he was coming back but with a completely different image to his old self. Obviously in 2014 I think Yams was trying to set up the ASAP Mob and getting them to blow next to Rocky, but the problem is, Rocky was on another level to these dudes and really should have gone it alone somehow (similar to how Carti eventually abandoned ASAP). But allegiance I suppose was why he stuck around. But it was a mistake. Rocky had changed a lot in 2014-15, he had a different hairstyle, was on a lot of magazine covers, doing fashion, and looked more feminine. It was by this point he was finished. That hoodie and cap Rocky with that dark aesthetic was gone, he did a depressive album in ALLA which wasn't bad but didn't progress his career, and then he went ghost again and made music with the ASAP Mob again after Yams passed who never took off. The only thing the Cozy Tapes did was help put on Playboi Carti today who now is more successful than Rocky is. The Testing album was wack, no matter how many people defend it, it flopped for a reason. The only thing people care about on there is "Praise the Lord". But unfortunately, one song isn't enough to save your buzz. His whole rap style, essence, it was just gone. Then he started wearing kilts, painting his nails, and... yeah. He was done. Lost the gangster image, no longer "that pretty motherfucker" (in a charismatic sense) etc. I don't think ASAP Yams would have ever cosigned what Rocky is doing now. He wasted several years away smashing models and doing fashion that nobody remembers. Fast-forward today a lot of people didn't even know he had dated Kendall Jenner and probably don't remember the brands he modelled for. At the end of the day, Rocky's case is an example of never trade your music career for another profession. Rocky in his prime was a better rapper than Kendrick and Drake was. But his prime was only 1 year. That's the problem. At the end of the day the only thing that can keep him somewhat relevant is if people blow up his old songs on TikTok which has been happening a little bit. But at the end of the day, retrospective popularity isn't going to save him. He can have 30 million+ monthly listeners, but nobody would really be hyped with a new album, because his new music isn't attracting many listeners like his old shit did. I guess the only thing that could save Rocky here is if he was to dump Rihanna and possibly get back into music again making cloud rap, and then slowly start to generate his old persona back slowly. However, this is extremely unlikely. He seems to have lost himself at this point and isn't going to leave a billionaire. She doesn't seem like she'd leave him either since she's obsessed with him. But in any scenario Rocky can recover from this if he wanted to, but he's too lazy. Carti used to date Iggy, who had chart topping songs, now Carti has surpassed her relevance and is no longer with her. Rocky can easily pull off something similar, get back into music and ditch this fashion nonsense and make the charts again, but someone would have to kick it in him.

I feel like for rocky to come up back to where he was 3-4 years ago when he could drop an album as anticipated as all smiles was at that time he needa drop at least 2 albums as of now, he really gotta stir up the pot again for the casual fans to come back, which is especially hard beacuse all of this shi thats poppin rn, thats not rockys typa shi, and I hope rocky wont switch up his style 180* just to get some streams on tiktok, I genuinely wouldnt mind an EP for summer consisting of songs like sundress, our destiny, lsd, and then consistently droppin music for the next year, but the question is does he wanna make so much music anymore? cuz he already made his impact and he wont become as iconic as he became back in 2015-16 which is fine, but still
