this video gave me chills, such a wonderful story! i'm so glad it was told, even if it meant that the base's location had been compromised which led to it's destruction. makes you really wonder if there's still another undiscovered and abandoned base just like this one that has been left untouched.

Reminds me of a similar old story of mine, (1.5) I was playing on a normal server with factions and after being raided I abandoned my old base, I was walking for so much time until I found an extraordinary semi-ruined base, It was the first time I was so astonished in multiplayer. I immediatly /sethome nearby and went exploring, it was like a castle with walls all around etc. After I was sure it was abandoned I made it my base, rebuild the griefed buildings, improved the structures,made an underground base, a farm etc..I even made a huge statue in the middle of the city of my skin, (with help of a friend of mine.) I recruited more members for my faction and basically this whole place was the jewl of the server. Until the nemesis faction of mine found the coordinates. We were caught off guard, quite possibly betrayed of my own. I remember hiding in my room behind room of chests (because u could not break claimed chests) their leader started shitalking on me through chat and challenged me. I remember eating a god apple and going beast mode on the guy eventually killing him. The rest retreated but they would come back eventually. The burden was heavy, I felt responsible. I personally burned down my own statue blaming myself. So we took all the stuff and went looking for the uknown. This time I made sure I wouldnt be backstabbed again. I choose a spot to locate with the other members. And some days later I left for once more but with the ones I found most trustworthy. We made a small underground base. Grinded for god apples, potions etc. I challenged one of them, left all stuff in the chest and /tpa to them and they actually were so overconfident and ignorant they accepted on their own base, obviously it was a trap they all attacked me instantly. But who truly got outsmarted? I screenshoted the coordinates. Gathered all my followers and we attacked on full strength, absolutely destroying those fuckers once and for all Eventually we had no nemesis and the hype died so I left the server but never forgot all those memories -Xkrules

The saddest sight for a builder... The monument that you have created by your own hands , block by block , the place where you created 100s of memories , the place where where you laughed and sometimes cried the place which is a piece of history Imagine watching it fall in front of your eyes , where you cry out of hopelessness and you can do nothing except watching your world shatter into pieces by some group of people who are ruining everything for millions of people and you for their own fun without hesitation Truly the saddest part for a builder...

I get that griefing is a part of the server culture, but I can’t respect people who think it’s fun to ruin something that’s worth hours of someone’s dedication and creativity. And the fact that a lot of these people are adults makes it clownery I’m sorry

Imagine destroying a base that lasted eight years. That's just messed up

It’s why as I move through the world I rebuild portions of destroyed abandoned bases to get a feel for the history of times past on this historic server and the people who built and created there. Even if not much remains there are always signs of people saying they were here on a certain date, usually over period of many years. I always leave the rebuilt portions with a small stash to help out new or traveling players in their explorations. I surprisingly will find people leaving messages of thanks even a day after I moved on if I get a chance to check back in.

Can you imagine just vibin in some ancient ruins and suddenly the first king of the place your at suddenly just appears and is like "oi there what's all this then"

Damn, imagine. Leaving something like that and being almost certain that it was no longer of use or destroyed to come back and find out that a man single handedly preserved and evolved the base through a time of war instead of destroying it. Like imagine the damn respect and connection between the 2 when founder and preserver acknowledged this

I'm always impressed to see people who know their pretty and well designed base is going to be blown up at some point, and they build it anyways.

That genuinely seems so amazing from both perspectives. Logging out of your base and going back 2 years later to see that it's still intact and that there's some stranger living in it and improving upon it, especially on a server known mostly for destruction... his first thought would've been that it's probably one of his old friends but no, it's a stranger. Then the other players perspective randomly out running discovering this monolithic base only to find it's abandoned. Reading the signs to learn some of the history and preserving it. Learning all these player names that you had never met, never thought you'd meet then one day a stranger appears, only for you to discover that it's the original owner and creator of the base you've worked so hard to protect and maintain. I couldn't imagine the feeling both of them had after meeting for the first time

This has me hooked in on 2b2t now this is like a dramatic movie and i love that

honestly if I had access to everything here and the server, and found some of the more wholesome people on this server I would painstakingly rebuild block for block there aren't a whole lot of things that can make me say this but that 8 year old base was absolutely beautiful.

2b2t petition: if the base is older than 5 years it shall be left alone as a land mark, if thou shall grief it they shall be excommunicated and hunted

in 2019 me and some recruited people built a copy of the Space valkyria on 2b2t in the over world about 4 million blocks out 400,000 away from highway. Stood for about 3 months before it got leaked and griefed...it was beautiful.
