Sri Lanka is bankrupt and protestors blame the current economic crisis on just one family.
For the past 20 years the Rajapaksas have been in power, they’ve been accused of financial mismanagement at best and siphoning millions of public funds at worst. But they have never been convicted of any crimes.
At the time of publishing, Ranil Wickremesinghe has been appointed the president of Sri Lanka. former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had fled to Singapore. The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka has imposed an overseas travel ban on his brothers, Mahinda Rajapaksa and Basil Rajapaksa.

This is 100% the fault of the Sinhalese majority that kept voting in these brothers regardless of many journalists and both homeland and diaspora Tamils trying to tell them the truth. And now they complain and riot, then what? What did they do to change the situation? Nothing. The majority Sinhalese will protest over a piece of bread going up in price, but will not protest the corruption, the human rights abuses and the useless militarization of the North. So who's fault is it really? The ones who took advantage of the situation to fill their pockets or the ones who kept voting in those people?

We still have people asking for the whereabouts of their families that went missing in the war. Still have people asking for their land back that has been illegally stolen by the Sri Lankan army. Still people asking for justice for their murdered loved ones. Remember Sunil? How he was pardoned even though he should have been killed for his crimes? I did not see any such outrage from the Sinhalese community. Even this past week, there was a vihara illegally attempted to be built on Tamil land. Fortunately, we protested and were able to stop it. But the Sinhalese deployed army members and Buddhists and attempted to block the area as it is built. And on top of that, a former minister even said that it would be built regardless of the court order. Yet, the majority still stay silent. So you can ask for a better future with your mouth, but you can only prove it with your actions.

You may wonder how this family was voted over and over again by majority. Here is the fun fact, Majority of the country is Sinhala people. As the practice, We used to believe that our race is the best and proudest one in the whole world with the history of 2500. Yes! It is the virus that was placed inside the heads of people here by education along. Every country should tax the rich enough to provide education, training and infrastructure, don’t accept foreign loans unless that country promotes human rights education, and above all, opposes corruption. Plenty of organic farms out there doing it well. Looks like leadership in Sri Lanka wasn't responsible in rolling the program out. In part to have an organic farming community, you need a strong composting program to help keep the soil fertile. Sounds like they may have done one without the other. You need time to generate the compost as well. You don't just take food scraps and instantly have useable compost.

Not all.. for example Grants-in-Aid by other friendly countries are given without a payback clause.. it's more of a gift or it can also be seen as a stepping in expecting something else in return (maybe trade preference, distancing from other countries). Or in case of huge loans as relief, they will literally dominate the country's internal politics.. it's a typical debt trap policy. I give u billions of dollars which i know u are not in a state to payback anytime.. so i get ur land as collateral. China's debt trap on Hambantotta port for 99 years is one such deal.

So, after racist policies by SriLanka, the north and east, where “Tamils” another ethnic group inside the majority Sinhalese ethnic group of SriLanka rebelled and civil war happened where Tamils wanted freedom from SriLanka , and when it’s ended with heavy (169-200 thousand Tamil civilians death , a genocide ) , to prevent another uprising the north east is occupied by the large portion of sinhala army, which is under control of Rajapakshas and racist Right wings ,, in some districts army to civilians ratio is 2:1!!!

I'm Sri Lankan and there are actually so many mistakes in this reporting 🤦🏻‍♂️ 0:24 that's not his residence that's the former parliament 0:28 the president actually never lived in the official presidential house and lived in his own home to cut costs 3:15 these numbers are wildly speculated with huge ranges that are tens of thousands of especially as this many bodies have never been found after all the surveying 4:40 this project was a part of a greater connectivity project but as the whole project wasn't completed the individual parts failed to generate any money 7:33 budget there were actually many more issues 8:20 this is highly questionable But rest is true
