I closed my petcock the other day and noticed air bubbles coming up my fuel line as it was draining into...somewhere? Bottom of my air filter is soaked, so obviously there. My float was at like 17 mm so I moved it to 21. Put some fuel in the line to check and no bubbles, level hasn't dropped. Can't wait to try it out in the morning - maybe I'm finally on my way to getting this thing running right. 😂 I really appreciate it, brother 🙏

No problem bro many carbs on the market nowadays but the key is to not go to big for your engine set up. If your engine is fairly stock stick with the smaller N/T and Hp style carbs. But if you have do a lot of porting or have a real pipe on it a vm18 or pz20 may be the better option for you.

I noticed there's some strange rangers in the MB community. One guy kept calling me an idiot for saying engines can run on hydrogen, natural gas, mapp gas, propane,etc... Despite me showing him an overwhelming amount of evidence. He said it was all BS/a scam, that I was wrong/stupid & he was right. He's messed with 2 stroke engines quite a bit but apparently hasn't ever seen a common propane forklift.

Thank you for a well spoken & informed delivery. My question is: is it normal to get an NT with a float that has fluid inside of it? Incidentally upon my first start up it bogged down after about 3 to 8 minutes.
@keeganhache6667
@keeganhache6667 Жыл бұрын
I had this same problem with mine last summer. Your float level is incorrect. Adjust it to 21mm. Also there will be a point where you have adjusted the float flap so much that the metal has become weak, and you will need to buy a new n/t carb. Or a rebuild kit
@michaelbrinks8089
@michaelbrinks8089 2 жыл бұрын
I needed a filter coz me rear tire was slinging sand & dirt directly into my carb intake... I had good results modding the stock restrictive NT carb filter by, #1 cutting off those 4 bottom plastic intake tubes on the cover, wrapping tape around the outside so airflow can no longer be sucked into them. Then cut a large oval hole in the back cover, cutout the inside plastic filter support screen (leaving the outer plastic ring & screw holes) Now it runs just as good as it does with the filter & housing completely removed. But if I remove the tape so the bottom holes are also exposed. It doesn't run nearly as good, I suspect because the holes are causing the airflow to swirl inside the filter housing VS being sucked straight into the carb from 1 large oval hole cut back. In hindsight, I should have only cut 1 large round hole in the cover, directly inline with the carb intake hole (while also plugging up the bottom holes). To see if it'd run just as good with smaller round hole VS the large oval hole made in back. I made the hole oval & as large as possible, going for the least restriction.

Wow sounds like you really dialed it in! I always recommend running a filter but as you stated getting the most flow out of one won't hurt either. This goes for a lot of things on these bikes you just really need to experiment with what works good.

I'm trying to find some type of gas/oil resistant non hardening/non messy putty to wrap around my carb/intake to insure no air leaks. So far the free window putty string I had laying around is working but I'm not sure how it holds up to gas & oil. I didn't wanna mess with smearing messy gasket sealer all over it, having to wait for it to dry & scraping it off & reapplying each time I removed the carb. Would be nice to have some reusable putty. It'd also be good to carry some with you & come in handy for something like a leaking petcock valve or cracked fuel filter. You could stick some putty on it & make it home.

There is the stuff that I've tried out in the past and have had really good luck with there's a sealent called permamax The Right stuff. My dad's aluminum intake was leaking on his truck and it was because we just used ultra Gray which is good for light duty stuff so we use this permamax right stuff and it's easy to remove if you need to but it will still seal 100 percent.

I start typing away posting comments, not realizing how many & long they are, lol.....Since $5 gas is probably here to stay for good, I'm working towards a lightweight 40-45 mph, stealth motorcycle with pedals build that gets 80-100 mpgs.

One way to find out exactly which part of your carb is leaking if you have a very slow leak. Is to stuff some pieces of toilet paper around the suspected areas then check it in a couple hours or day later. I couldn't tell if my carb was leaking from the bottom drain screw,primer button, bowl gasket, fuel line into the carb,etc..coz the leak was so slow it wasn't visible. The next day after riding, there'd be a small puddle underneath the carb. After stuffing TP around suspected leak areas over night, I could see it was leaking around the primer button only.
@keeganhache6667
@keeganhache6667 2 жыл бұрын
Yes this is totally a good idea I had this problem recently on my pocket bike and I just stuffed some shop towels underneath the lower fairing came back the next day and it turns out my overflow is leaking so most likely my fuel Peck cock isn't keeping the gas from flooding the carburetor.

Yeah so you can’t just buy your average 5mm jets for most carbs. What you need to do is type in 212cc jets and then you will find the right ones. It’s because it’s a 9mm jet and it’s a great carburetor just harder to find jets. Go powersports has a lot of parts for 212cc engines so that’s your best place to shop
