If you’re a bigger dude don’t hang with your full body weight. Make sure your feet are on the ground or you’re on your toes. You will still get the same benefit from the dead hangs.

Great video and advice! “The Kaui Study” written by an orthopedic surgeon proves that traction therapy restores structural ailments in many cases. The surgeon in question saved 89 out of 94 patients from elective shoulder surgery by placing them on simple hanging protocols such as you have outlined. One trick I added to my pull-ups and decompression practices was placing myself in between dip bars (or any structure I could support a feet elevated, palms-down supported position) was to give a slight downward jerk movement which would click by lower back/hip connection junction back in to place. I’m 58 and still practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and I’m twisted up in knots on the ground all the time, yet, these self administered therapeutic practices (along with kettlebell and flexibility training) have kept me orthopedically very sound..
@vjha99

Unfortunately traction therapy only provides short term relief. Gravity just neglects all the benefits.thats not really an issue as the body adapts

I used to use the corner of the kitchen counters to do something similar. I'd get into position for dips then try and completely relax my core muscles allowing the weight of my legs to pull and stretch my lower back. I tore my lower back muscles twice. Once in college wrestling at 19yrs old then again at 23yrs old lifting something too heavy in a bent over extended position that compromised my back. I find keeping weight off and maintaining a healthy core strength significantly reduces lower back issues as well.
@PauloBerni699
@PauloBerni699 2 жыл бұрын
I just wrote about this corner counter position. In my case I would suspend, then utilize a downward dropping/jerk motion of my suspended hips and feet while keeping my elbows supporting my weight locked out. This seemed to pop my discs back in place over time completely eliminating a pinched, painful displaced feeling where the spine and hip complex are joined
@richstevens5727
@richstevens5727 2 жыл бұрын
@@PauloBerni699 what you just said to do makes me so nervous! Lol I dont think I can 100% fully relax my core allowing all the weight to pull. I can only relax about 70% before it's a dull ache. It could be because I'm 252lbs so my lower half must be fairly heavy. If I hang from a pull up bar and relax I'm fine. But if I'm in a dip position i think I can isolate the relaxation of the muscles more putting more of a pull on my lower back. I've never been to a chiropractor but overall I'm still in decent shape for 41. No "real" ailments per say.

Yes sir, that's exactly what has nearly eliminated my lower back pain which has been with me since 2000, it has also helped to 100% eliminate a self induced shoulder injury from 2015 while over lowering a loaded bar during some sets of flat benching. As long as it is done consistently this exact exercise WILL help. I started this after watching some Steve Maxwell vids around 2015. I have never needed any Dr.'s nor chiropractors attention. Get on the pull down machine stack it with weights. Lock your legs into the padded lap bar. Pull the chin up bar down with as much weight as you can hold then relax your back muscles and wiggle back and forth. Do this often and it will fix your back. Found it out once because I continued to work out after opening my trans and t-top with my head in a crash

Another thing that gives relief, is lying on your back, with knees facing the sky, and your heels close to your butt, with your head flat on the floor, take the palms of your hands as low on the legs as possible and slowly push your legs, building up your strength and hold for ten seconds, do this through out the day if you don't get a pop on the lower spine. Also not this is only good for the lower spine! But now I will look for a dive belt, and give this a try also 👍

He's right. Also, another medicine, even as a stand alone exercise for curing back pain, is, "Back Bridges", do them as reps, and static holds as your last set if you want. Too advanced? Donna easier progression first: Bamboo Bridges, or Hip Thrusts while laying on the ground with feet flat on the floor of course.

I have two herniated discs in my lower back, was in excruciating pain for a long time, and was recommended for surgery a few times. Over the last year I've stopped doing anything that curves my lower back forward, like folding into a stretch to touch my toes, and whether stretching or what not always keep my lower back straight. I haven't had any issues in a year and it's the only thing I changed. Just in case it might help someone.

what you said about the back issues made me think of my dad whom had similar back issues with herniated discs and as you said, my dad was in excruciating pain. he passed away in 2014 the day after back surgery. i think his death had a link to the surgery. im just rememering how much he sat at his desk hunched over. theres nothing to be done now but alot of his back pain could have been prevented by doing stuff likje in the video.honeslty if he never had back issues doing exercise and daily habit to prevent it, he would have never got back surgery and probably never die. to this day we dont know the exact cause of death but its doesnt seem like a coincidents he die the day after . i will do everything in my power not to end up like him. hes not suffering anymore

Get an MRI w/ and w/out contrast to see what’s really going on back there. Sometimes the doc’s can clean out the problem tissue or bone with minimal stress on your body. If you wait, there’s a chance that the issues will get worse. I’ve had 4 lumbar spine surgeries and going in for a fifth because I didn’t listen to my body and the damage involved.
