Ooooh you are so lucky! Maybe they sell DVDs of live performances? I have purchased royal ballet DVDs but they are unfortunately not from Birmingham.

I always used layers of cotton perle crochet thread to darn my pointes, mind you that was more than 40 years ago

HANNAH! ✨I have an idea for you!✨ I noticed in some of your videos that you need to stay up at night sewing a pair of shoes because you don't have any for the next day... Would it be an idea if you prepared in advance a few pairs (let's say 4 pairs) and call these your "BACK-UPS" so that there's always some shoes ready for use when you need them at short notice. Whenever you use a pair from your Back-up stash, you then sew a pair to "replace" it, so you always keep your Back-up stash around 4 pairs. This 'replacing' doesn't need to be done urgently, but you keep at it regularly in your spare time, to maintain your Back-up stash. But at least that way, there's no immediate stress on you, and you're not having to do it at times when you're already exhausted. So you have some leeway. If you want to try this, you'll need to first spend some time to get ahead and prepare the Back-up stash, however many pairs you decide that should be. It's just an idea ☺️ ALSO thanks for sharing your journey with us... I find your honesty and perspective really encouraging 😍

When I first learned how expensive pointe shoes are, how long they last, and how much individual preparation they take, my mind was blown three times! 🤯🤯🤯 I did not know there were any factory made shoes. I thought they were all handmade. You know the Trockadero ballet, which is men who dance en pointe - where do they buy their shoes? Thank you very much for making this video! I’m sharing it with my fellow non-dancing friends! Hope you’re doing very well! 🙏😍💜🪩🎭🎼💐✨

This was so lovely to see Hannah! Just started pointe so this was really interesting to see how a professional preps them. Would love to see another video on this in more detail later down the line. ❤

Wow, I had no idea it took so long to prep pointe shoes! Do you wear toe pads or anything inside of your shoes?

Thanks for sharing! Any idea how many shoes you go through a season? That just seems like so much money (for the company) and so wasteful. I am not judging!! because I know it’s what you need to do. I just think there should be a better way with so much technology these days and everybody concerned about the environment. 😬

Thank you for sharing. It's so much work to prepare the shoes, I had no idea. 😮 The dancing clips at the end (from 5:30) are amazing Hannah. You're incredible.

Hannah, have you tried waxing your thread? I'm not a dancer, but I do embroidery. Beeswax blocks, or Thread Heaven both make the thread like silk, thus easier to glide through whatever you are stitching.

Hi, great interesting vid as always, thank you. As a designer i have always wondered why they are made like that, needing so much damage and reworking to make them right?? Is it just tradition in the shoe construction or is it that every dancer is so different there is no way to improve the design so less work is needed??

They look so beautiful, but that is so much work for a shoe that dies so insanely quickly. When I was last fitted I was told there's no reason to even try on Freed classics because it's not going to be affordable to go through shoes that quickly.
