His pieces look just like real neon signs, but they are actually 2D and created using only spray paint and a special technique that makes them pop off the wall. We spoke with Straker about his work and watched him create one of his pieces.

He’s basically using a technique called Glazing which is common in painting especially in the old days , you basically lay down a color and then layer over another very thin coat of another color you’ll have the color from the bottom come thru and mix with the top layer which results in deeper colors and if you do this with white it will make it appear as if the color is glowing!

Wow! That is so realistic! I remember that another artist paints foil balloons on walls and people would try to touch those because they thought of real balloons. This is great! Neon signs 24/7 without the use of electricity!
