The behaviour reminds how the British colonialists treated people in Kenya during the liberation struggle when the Mau-Mau were fighting for the liberation of Kenya. This treatment of peaceful protesters by Kenyan police should does not have a place in a democratic country, and, people should take this government of William Ruto to court.

People often feel a sense of danger that they haven't felt before and this might affect their behaviour, e.g. switching off the phone, avoiding certain places or withdrawing from people. Those experiences should become less distressing with time but if it persists longer than a month I would recommend speaking to a professional therapist/doctor.
