Maybe they're just copy the dragonriders because they're come from Essos who knows Valyrian Freeholds

Where is this actually written? The histories in the special editions DVD’s aren’t canon. Many people are still alive in the books who do not exist at all on the show. Several characters have entirely different stories in the books.
