I had to comment because acupuncture saved my life... I was going to a MD doctor for two decades and she couldn't figure out why my hands were numb and no strength. I went to acupuncture and she unlocked my hands and my mid back, lower back and legs . I felt like I completely got a new spine put in my body after treatment. her name is Natalie and she's the most wonderful acupuncturist in the world .. I'm so glad that I know her and I know about acupuncture no more vicodins for me and I fired my MD doctor.

First video I’ve seen on acupuncture that makes it easy to understand - thank you!! I get very bad migraines and am allergic to nsaids (ibuprofen/aspirin/Advil/etc) so all I can take is Tylenol (which rarely helps)and lie down in a dark room and wait for it to go away. Sometimes takes days. Ive done acupuncture twice now while having a migraine and it makes the migraine go away pretty quick. Definitely made me a believer & will continue doing it!

I worked in traditional medicine for a long time and was facing surgery (when no other treatment worked for a shoulder injury.) As a last ditch effort on the urging of a friend I decided to try Acupuncture. I was pretty sure it was a bunch of bunk but I went anyway since surgery was not the route I wanted to go but the constant pain and lack of range of motion was a motivating force. I went to see Lloyd Wright and after him taking a careful history and examination and finally acupuncture, I left being able to move my arm (albeit still painfully) a little bit above my shoulder. Approximately 5 sessions later I was pain free and back to full activities. That was probably 14 years ago. Since then I have seen Lloyd for back pain, knee pain and arthritis. Acupuncture has been around for 2500 years for a reason. Make sure you see someone licensed and knowledgeable which doesn't mean your Chiropractor or Physical Therapist that took a 2 week course. If someone is going to stick needles in you make sure they know what they are doing. That said, I often fall asleep during treatment (so the pain is minimal)

Hi Susan, Thank you for the kind words. I have always said if folks knew about acupuncture and the practice of ancient Asian medicine what acupuncturists knew, every acupuncture clinic in the country would be booked full and hundreds of millions of health care dollars would be saved. That would be dollars to spend on more fun things than being sick. Thanks again, Lloyd

Hi Narender, Most health care providers are licensed by the local governing authority, just as a medical doctor or nurse, so you can start there, be sure the provider you choose is licensed. Licensed Acupuncturists are the most thoroughly trained in all aspects of the medicine including herbs and related modalities. Many medical doctors have gone through a shorter course of training and are capable of managing simple issues with acupuncture but are typically untrained in herbal medicine. Some develop a passion for acupuncture and become quite talented. So look in your local area for whoever does acupuncture, ask about their training, Licensed Acupuncturists should have graduated with a 4 year degree and be licensed, most MDs get about 300 hours of training. Next I would suggest asking about the length of time in practice and do they specialize in your area of concern. If you have a back injury you probably don't want to go to someone who specializes in women's health or infertility. Although many practitioners can be good at several specialties. I hope that helps, if you have additional questions let me know, you can also go to my web site at www.stellarphysicalmed.com. Kind regards, Lloyd

HI Natalie, I heard that concern expressed by a patient many years ago. Since I am not familiar with the practice of witchcraft, I cannot comment on it's origin or use in that arena. However, for ancient Chinese medicine everything was about solving the health problems of the day. I have never seen anything in TCM that equates to witchcraft. I know acupuncturist who are also devout Christians. Thanks, Lloyd

I have a first treatment yesterday of acupuncture, but I don feel any relief on the neck pain, how many times I need to go?
@stellarphysicalmedicine9322
@stellarphysicalmedicine9322 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Morcy, Neck pain can have many causes. Getting the body to heal underlying damage is ultimately what acupuncture should be focused on accomplishing. So the question is,why do you have neck pain? If it is a simple acute muscle strain, relief will occur quickly and the treatment program will be short, maybe 2-6 treatments. If the injury is severe such as a whiplash with a lot of strain of both ligaments and muscle the treatment program will be longer, perhaps 2-3 times per week for 2-4 weeks and a reduction of frequency after that. If it is a chronic problem such as arthritis, degenerative disc, or disc protrusion the treatment will need to be long and use other modalities such as chiropractic or PT along side. Nearly all of my patients will get some pain relief the first treatment, but not every time. It is reasonable to give it 4-6 treatments and see the results. Treatment should be at least twice per week maybe three times. Going once a week is useless for the biginning stage.

Can acupuncture work for spinal estenosis on lower back
@stellarphysicalmedicine9322
@stellarphysicalmedicine9322 5 ай бұрын
Hi, Acupuncture cannot restore the disc space the is usually the cause of stenosis. It can reduce the pain and local inflammation, and relax the local muscles. This can be a major benefit in managing the pain without drugs. Give it about 6 treatment as an initial trial.

Hi Elizabeth, I have treated many cases of trigger finger mostly with excellent results, but not 100%. I use acupuncture and most important is micro current stimulation. Sometimes injections may be helpful, sometimes a surgery is needed. Try acupuncture first as the risk is very low, results should become apparent in 3 weeks at 2 treatments per week. does acupuncture can treat Post-Traumatic Arthritis?
@aoma1001
@aoma1001 8 жыл бұрын
+Benie Mansueto Vison Acupuncture will relieve arthritis symptoms regardless of the cause. However, it is not a cure all. Some cases respond well, some cases don't respond at all. It largely depends on the severity, type, and length of time of the arthritis. This is also true of any medical condition or the modality used. In my practice I typically begin seeing results within 4 treatments. If the response is poor, less than a 10% improvement, I don't typically continue treatment. Therefore I would recommend finding a reputable acupuncturists in your community and ask him or her if they have experience with you condition and have 4-6 visits fairly close together and observe the results. If you are getting relief, even for only a few hours initially, then continue. Hope that helps, Lloyd

is acupuncture good for low mood low energy? and how many times a week and for how long should each session last to recover?
@stellarphysicalmedicine9322
@stellarphysicalmedicine9322 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Elder Home Share, Acupuncture can be helpful for low energy and the resulting low moods that can occur. I always endeavor to differentiate if low energy/moods are caused by organ dysfunction or due to social or situational circumstances. If someone recently experienced a significant loss it is normal to grieve and feel depressed. Sometimes psychological based depressed can trace back to earlier issues in life. These types of depression really need to be addressed through counseling and self insight. Organ based dysfunction can be the result of a number of factors the can be helped through acupuncture, herbal medicine, proper diet, and proper exercise. All of these factors are important. In terms of acupuncture treatment every case is different but I typically see patients twice weekly for 2-4 weeks and reduce the frequency as symptoms get better. 99% of the time I recommend herbs and proper diet as well. Hope that helps.

@stellarphysicalmedicine9322

Dear Ginjopowder, I have never seen a reaction like you describe, since I don't know more details about your complete health picture I can only speculate about your reaction. Acupuncture does move blood, if the blood flow is stagnate or blocked some vessels may expand until the blockage is relieved. Dark urine may be an indication of toxins leaving the body. There may be a number of other explanations as well. Be sure you talk with your acupuncturist about your results.

As much as I have read a book about this and seen many videos on the topic I have to wonder if its true because I could see at least three systems I identify with, and like something from every category I can relate to on some level. So it's almost like vague catch all stuff to me. Anybody have some real advice?
@stellarphysicalmedicine9322
@stellarphysicalmedicine9322 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Master Chief Sha, Yes, it can seem complex and there are an array of additional theories that go much deeper. Furthermore, over the past 2000 years nearly every culture has added to the original theories, so there is Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indian, French, German, and British adaptations of the theories. It took me about 3-5 years of being in practice and seeing results before I began to feel I understood anything. Much like learning to play a musical instrument practice makes perfect, in both cases a lot of practice. If you want to take a deeper dive the book "Staying Healthy with the Seasons" is a good practical start. Or consult with a well seasoned acupuncturist. Kind regards, Lloyd G Wright, LAc, DNBAO

Is acupuncture bunk? Any actual proof it works for increasing general health?
@stellarphysicalmedicine9322
@stellarphysicalmedicine9322 4 жыл бұрын
Hi David, Acupuncture works extraordinarily well for a wide variety of health problems. there is plenty of scientific and clinical evidence to support this. Like all medical modalities and medicines it does not work for everything. Nothing works 100% in any medicine. In terms of general health, acupuncture can create a state of relaxation in which the body can better rest and heal. In terms of evidence, I doubt there are any studies that answer that question for any medicine. Studies are typically done to establish effectiveness of a specific treatment for a specific health problem. Hope that helps.

Dear Ayuveda, I strongly suggest you attend a Traditional Chinese Medicine collage near you. If you live in the United States I can direct and advise you well, if you live in another country I can give you an idea of what to look for, if you have no opportunity to get to a TCM college you can start your journey by reading books. For starters The Web that has no Weaver and Staying Healthy with the Seasons are two books I recommend. If your heart is true you will find a way to get to a TCM college, do remember this is medical school just like any other, it will require a devotion of love and compassion in healing. Let me know if I may be of further assistance. Kind regards, Lloyd

I think acupuncturists are really great. If have to give blood regularly and then the nurses often have big problems with finding the right vain...but those acupuncturists have no problems at all, even with finding invisible channels.... I only have a problem with `invisible channels` channels are physical things, when they are invisible and we can not feel then...one should give them another name.
@stellarphysicalmedicine9322
@stellarphysicalmedicine9322 5 жыл бұрын
Hi ybor20, That is an astute observation, in fact I agree and have the same issue with "invisible" channels. Evidence actually supports the concept that these channels are the subtle nerve roots that are gently stimulated creating an effect traveling up to the brain and initiating regulatory effects throughout the whole system. I ran into supporting evidence of this from a study done in Hong Kong around 1985 in which a nerve block was used over a particular "meridian" and the "acupuncture" effect was completely blocked as well. If we can stop the effect of acupuncture with a nerve block, that can only mean one thing. The effectiveness of acupuncture is propagated by regular good old fashion nerves. So the ancient Chinese had to have some language by which to describe the phenomena they observed, the use of term like energy flow, water flow, yin & yang, and channels is just a different way to describe observable phenomena. NO magic, no invisible. Just a different name for the same rose, to use a metaphor.

Hi Antoine, It is not a "pentagram" in the way that may be thought of from particular Western belief systems. It is a 5 pointed star if you look at the shape but it implies nothing other than a systems model through which we can understand organ relationships. It is based on ancient Chinese philosophy on how the universe works, which was based on their close observation of nature and the cycle of nature, over a period of thousands of years. We've had it explained to us how ssri drugs help depression, but we find now they increase the rates of suicide. Case of the double blind leading the blind...I've treated many ex-sceptics with acupuncture. You should give it a trial...find a skilled practitioner a get a few treatments before you fry the therapy. I've practice for 35 years and it's efficacy never ceases to amaze me...and as a man of integrity I certainly wouldn't waste my life employing something that was fake. I originally (totally ignorant of it) received a treatment for a meniscus tear...very sore and swollen and immobile. Next morning the swelling had reduced by 75% with improved mobility and I had to work it to find pain- i was very impressed...so impressed it became a career choice. I am a man who sought for the truth [so help me God, hand on the bible]. The main problem is, the field is inhabited by many occult, magicians who claim the efficacy of needling medicine is due to their spiritualist connections or some esoteric concepts. There has always been two schools of thought in needling medicine..the scholars and the magicians.

Hey why do acupuncturist force donations on students to fund non profits who are trying to prevent chronically ill people from being able to access healthcare? If your so interested in health. Why is your industry acting to prevent it?

Hi Chris, Curious, I have never heard of acupuncturists forcing anything on anyone and certainly not to prevent anyone from receiving any type of healthcare. The very concept of what you suggest goes completely against the trend and personalities I know of in the acupuncture profession, or any of the healthcare professions. I have personally served on several professional Boards at the state and national level, so I feel I can speak with some authority on this matter. If you can supply me with specific details I will look into the matter. How can anyone force a student to take a donation? Who are the donations from? What are the names of non profits that would prevent healthcare delivery? Kind regards, Lloyd

Stellar Physical Medicine Stellar Physical Medicine sure. First off. Thank you for being professional. To date you are the first acupuncturist who hasn't created fake fb profiles and harassed myself and my family and tried an actual dialogue. Shortly after the Obama administration approved subsidies for student loans the council of colleges for oriental medicine began forcing donations onto students to supply non profit organizations with funds with an open addenda to prevent the patient population from being able to access healthcare (not complimentary healthcare like acupuncture) such as dry needling. The Colorado acupuncture association is a great example of this. It's a forced donation. I know this because I was one of the students they tried this on. I also an amputee who was and is using physical therapy esp dry needling while I was loosing my leg. Pretty much ended my interest in acupuncture when I found out who the real enemy to patient care are. It's not PT's. your response was Kinda long. If I missed a portion you would like clarified please ask. I do love the picture 5e paints of women being tied to cold, dark, fear, an yin within the water element. No one ever talks about that. Anyhow, I don't disagree with acupuncture. I disagree with anyone or any industry that stands in the way of a patients ability to navigate through health related issues.

Hi Chris, Okay, sounds like your experience has a lot to do with the whole Dry Needling controversy, and you were attending one of the acupuncture colleges in Colorado. I cannot speak to the donation issue,I'll need to do more research. I would fundamentally disagree with forced donations. However, I was the primary spokesperson representing Licensed Acupuncturists during the dry needling debate here in Arizona. So your contention is that acupuncturist were trying to prevent PTs from using dry needling. Lets first look at the beginning. "Dry Needling" was a term first used by Janet Travell, MD for the procedure of stimulating muscle responses via needle stimulation with injection. My office partner, who was an MD told me in the early 1990's that he would code dry needling to get insurance companies to pay for his doing acupuncture. Later I read peer reviewed research articles by Gun et el, in which he frankly stated that he believed the name of acupuncture should be changed to dry needling in order to gain wider acceptance of this valuable therapy in the West. Up until the early 2000's there were 3 professions that use acupuncture, Licensed Acupuncturists, MD's or DO's, and Chiropractors. Now all of sudden physical therapists fall in love with acupuncture, why? Because it works and is amazing. But they don't want to go back to school and get any of the above mentioned degrees. So they claim they are doing dry needling and that is not the same as acupuncture. Well the technique of "dry needling" has been in practice for over 1500 years already. Calling it a different name does not make it different. Dry needling is a style of acupuncture. In fact I consider to be the most basic least sophisticated style available. Very much like first grade. So the first problem is that the entire physical therapy community starts off their argument to be allowed to practice acupuncture with a lie!! Perhaps many believe the lie, but it is still a lie. How can one trust a profession that freely lies or engages in self deceit? However, the primary and really only real issue about PT's practicing acupuncture is safety and related training. So, lets look at training, Lic. Acupuncturists were at about 2600 hour master degree, MD put in 300 hours above their medical degree, Chiropractors, at lest in Arizona, have a 100 hour minimum requirement, but the main supplier of this education strongly recommends 300 hours just like the MDS. AND physical therapist??? I guess they are way smarter then anyone else, they qualify with a scant 24 hours of continuing education as their requirement. While that is sinking in, consider the following. Do you think we have a free market here in the USA? Why are nearly all services performed by a PT covered by insurance and almost no services performed by Lic Acupuncturists? Good question, but the result is that people are directed to avoid "CAM" modalities like acupuncture and even Chiropractic. Is that our idea of a free and open market in which the best product or service wins? No, your physical therapist operates, in the business sense, with an unfair and undeserved market advantage. If we want to see the free market operate then all services need to be covered equally or none need to be covered. On a final note, any qualified Lic. Acupuncturist, particularly an orthopedic specialist, could have performed dry needling for you as well if not better than your PT, and I am sure no one prevented you from getting dry needling from a Lic Acupuncturist. So how are you prevented from getting dry needling? Thanks for your thoughtful consideration on this topic, Lloyd G Wright, LAc, DNBAO

Stellar Physical Medicine simple. Not all areas of the country have acupuncturist. More rural areas are without that. Plenty of PTs. Furthermore, why do think you should be able to pick my practitioners? Your scope of practice model and education are lower than there’s. Also, functional movement has nothing to do with acupuncture. It’s completely different that’s why it works. Also, acupuncture has used forced donations to fund lawsuits in Colorado and other states in an attempt to prevent the use of this modality for patients. Because They can’t compete. Your industry is dishonest with low standards. I do love how you tried to side step the fact that as a group your trying to prevent people from getting healthcare. Also, the reasons for not being able to code for acupuncture has to do with low standards. Nothing more. Chiropractor, DO’s have doctoral degrees not masters. Raise your educational standards. Your educational standards are a farce. I proved that several times over when I took southwest acupuncture colleges accreditation. Showing that the woman who was knowing operating that school below standards was working for ACAOM doing site reviews for other institutions. How can a woman that is not capable of keeping her standards in line be able to regulate other schools? She can’t. Low standards. Fun fact she was the legislative chair for the council of colleges. If you want to be able to code for acupuncture stop making excuses and raise your standards. No masters degree with accomplish this. Have to be a doctor to get this done. PTs have higher educations, literally. That’s why their able to code. It’s not rocket science. Acupuncture as an industry has lost sight of patient care. I do agree with you about trusting a profession that lies. How can you trust acupuncturist when you lie about your educational standards? When your forcing donations to fund non profits? And can you find another profession that is operating in such a fashion? I can’t. To claim your educations are more valuable with a lesser degree is nonsense. Acupuncturist just don’t want to participate like everyone else. I can respect your opinion. But it lacks merit. As to your argument about a free market.... NO we don’t have a free market. Especially when acupuncturist are using federal funds meant for education to try and prevent chronically ill people from being able to access healthcare. Nothing free about that. It is however extremely erosive and damaging to everyone. I look forward to your reply. So far your the only person that has had any kind of argument. You should contact the council of colleges. Maybe talk to Jason Wright. Ask him if these kind of practices are a benefit to your credibility. Thank you for remaining civil. You are literally the first acupuncturist I have had this conversation with that didn’t act like a social justice warrior. Crying about being caught. Pretty sad the coming generation of acupuncturist. At least your not trying to lie and harass when someone disagrees with you.

Hi Chris, First of all my name is not Stellar Physical Medicine that is my clinic's name, I am Lloyd Wright. Your comments involve quite a lot of banter about standards of the Acupuncture profession, and that we should be doctors. Keep in mind that all professions are evolving and have their own unique knowledge base. I have maintained for over 30 years that this profession should have a doctorate level of training, because the depth and history simply requires it. When added to the context of modern medicine and scientific methodology there is a huge treasure of knowledge, wisdom, and ultimately benefit for the health care consumer to be unveiled. The development of the doctorate of physical therapy is a relatively recent development. You did know that right? Having a DPT does not come anywhere close to the depth and breadth of Traditional Chinese Medicine which treats way more than orthopedic cases. It is a full scope medicine. So your argument that Lic Acupuncturist are not as educated as a PT is only valid in relation to the knowledge base of a PT. A PT has a basis to begin to understand the depth of acupuncture but really, 24 hours of training? At least they could out in a sincere effort and get what MD or DC get for training. To your second point, Nobody should pick your practitioner. But it is the responsibility of the state legislature to assure the public of minimum standards of training to assure safety and to some degree effectiveness. What those training standards are is what the debate is about. As far as the acupuncture profession controlling the market, that comment is frankly a joke. This profession is in my opinion the least politically cohesive health care profession in the USA. The only reason anything gets passed or accomplished is because of huge public support as a result of Lic. Acupuncturists getting great results with their patients. I can't really speak to your experience with ACAOM since I don't know the other side of the story. But rest assured I shall this conversation in mind next time I attend a national convention. The bottom line is this, if you want to go to a PT for acupuncture and your state legislature has set their standard of education for such, then go right ahead. My contention is this, don't fool yourself into thinking that what they are doing is different than acupuncture, it is only one of hundreds of styles of acupuncture that has been around the hundreds of years. The study of acupuncture is only a part of the full field of the study of Traditional Chinese Medicine. That is a deep pool indeed for those who dare to take the challenge. I wish you well on your journey.

Why would you make such a strange comment? in the real world we do what works, not some fantasy that you have been programed to believe. If Traditional Chinese medicine did not work it would not be practiced continuously for the past 2,500 years. This is now supported by thousands of peer reviewed studies.

How many times have you observed an acupuncture clinic in either Asian or America and seen the results? Or are you just a parrot repeating a false narrative that makes you "feel" good about yourself? I strongly suggest you look deeply into a subject matter before making unsupported statements.

Common sense can be such a BROAD and SUBJECTIVE term based on culture and their experience. For instance... Western medicine(allopathic practice) treats each individual part of the body as something "separate". The body is an "entire being" made up of many smaller subsystems which are interconnected. By "treating" one "ailment" with chemical treatments you "unbalance many others" causing further illness seen or unseen. Many medical practices outside of allopathic practice would view our medical practice as not using "common sense" for the reasons previously stated. My research and "common sense" approach had led to the conclusion that "vaccinations and flu shots" do VERY little good in VERY limited circumstances, yet have TREMENDOUS and LIFE ALTERING side effects that can occur in any number of patients! It would be MY "common sense approach" to never inject a cocktail of heavy metals, conjugated virus particles and other toxins directly into a person's blood stream! Our bodies were not DESIGNED to work like that... But, is that the "common sense" answer the allopathic community will give you? No... It's always on to the "latest edition" textbook answer which is then reversed and revised next year because "oops, we were wrong about that" and they teach it as DOCTRINE... Those dumb enough to follow in their wake will have to "step over the bodies" as they "LEARN THEIR WAYS"... Common sense? Common sense is to trust NO ONE completely and to search out the wisdom for yourself...
