From what I remember Ainz choose to summon those angels instead of his regular undead soldier to sort of "lighten" the mood around him when walking around as the townsfolk are still afraid of him.

And that's actually a sign of a good organization (according to the LN). A leader who does things all by himself is a sign of a lack of proper task assignation. But a group with a leader that just decides a general direction whilst his subordinates does the intricacies for him, is a dream group.

@@exodusthanatos286 in my opinion, for organizations and pretty much teams in general, delegation of tasks is the most important part. With a proper delegation of tasks, each members would be able to use their strengths while the others would cover their weaknesses. If the leader does all the work, his weaknesses won't be covered , strengths not maximized, and if the leader goes out of the picture, the whole team will get destroyed. For me, delegation is the most important task for a leader, and Ainz does a pretty good job at that. The leader doesn't need to be the strategist. Although it is indeed funny that Ainz's plans are too great that even he, the greatest supreme being, cannot fathom them.

Maybe im miss-remembering They obviously know that they're inferior to their Supreme being creators, but they're superior to any other creations from non-supreme beings I sound like I'm rambling and at this rate I don't even know if im right anymore Anyway, because Pandora was created hy a supreme being, he must have been created perfect, if ains is telling him "screw you change your act I don't like it anymore" then he must have been made imperfect, otherwise ains wouldn't need to correct him Nevermind i dunno anymore

The lore and world building of overlord is so rich that I prefer reading it in novel rather than watching it in anime, cause I knew a lot of it will be skipped. I watched the anime just to see fighting scenes and ainz's funny misunderstanding to be animated 😂

That's gonna be really hard...considering his friends were ordinary people essentially playing the persona of monsters and demons, while the NPC's are remorseless mass murderers, psychopaths, and legit monsters. Sure maybe with time...like a few centuries they might mellow out, but if Ainz's had even some of his emotions he'd be disgusted and horrified with what they've been doing and with himself.

@@thefanwithoutaface8105 One thing that's kind of fascinating to think about is that even with everything Ainz and his subjects have done thus far, their bad deeds are often either comparable to or even more tame than some actual historical examples, depending on whether you want to consider something like "how bad was the torture" (probably worse in overlord with magic), or "volume of people this ruler's killed" (even his mass slaughter summon was basically nothing compared to real history's worst). There are figures thought of fondly today that were broadly more terrible than anything in Overlord through 3 seasons, and very likely through 4.

@@TheMelnTeam That's true but evil is not purely measured in body count. What Ainz has allowed his NPCs to do is beyond evil. Even with his suppressed emotions, you have to wonder what kind of a person he was before to have allowed himself to have become such a monster.

@@MrTehRave I think you are missing the point. Ainz is undead, so he doesn't feel any empathy at all. His actions are 100% pragmatic. He is -500 karma for his character, so you can't apply your version of evil from a human standpoint to him. Are killing skeletons, vampires, etc. evil actions to you?

People don't give Ainz enough credit. He has capable and far more intelligent underlings so he doesn't have to do the brunt of the work. He has above average leadership skills, constantly thinking and advancing his own weaknesses. I have a feeling he was a pretty good boss prior to being isekied and had plenty of terrible ones to learn from on what not to do in managing workers.

Has anyone else realized that all of the concerns that the people in Ainz’s Sorcerer Kingdom address to Momon(PA) are the same acts that nobles of the Re Estize Kingdom used to practice? The Re Estize Kingdom still conscripts the commonwealth to become soldiers in times of war. Also the act of human slavery was a practice that was only recently outlawed in the Kingdom of Re Estize, which E-Rantel used to be apart of. In other words the people of E-Rantel are afraid that Ainz would be just as bad, if not worse, than the most corrupt of nobles from their former kingdom. It’s interesting to think of how benevolent Ainz’s actual plans for his kingdom must appear to these traumatized people.

I think there was also some dialogue missing in Hamsuke's scene about Ainz hearing Hamsuke talking to someone and musing that there was something he had forgotten, being a reference to the jewel/orb of death that he had given Hamsuke at the end of volume 2, which Ainz had completely forgotten about.

I see Ainz accidentally learned to not repeat the mistakes of the roman empire. The Roman empire existed due to just how superior its career military was. It was known as one of the earliest forms of such things (except the spartans). However as their lands expanded, it became necessary to teach these conquered people the Roman way. Their tactics, equipment, logistical policies, etc. This resulted in them losing their biggest advantage. Their military technology. As eventually everyone had it and adopted it and destroyed rome with it.

That happen during the republican period and they survived gallantly. Those wars were called the "Social wars", from its latin name, but better translated to English should be called the "Partner wars". Roman problems were mainly economic and institutional. War feeds not only on peoples lives, but money, which call for even more wars. The institutional part is that nobody foreseen that soldiers will be loyal to their generals, not Rome, thus the republic ended when the generals took over which lead to the Empire which slowly but surely enter in decline as the gold left the empire towards the east via commerce since they never mange to conquer it and they started to thin the gold in the currency turning the denary in a worthless currency again and again until economic colapse. And I am not counting the external pressures.

Great video! I’m so glad you mentioned the self help books detail. As that is one of the aspects of Ainz that I truly respect, and one I feel a lot of anime-only’s don’t really pickup on. Which is that Ainz is in a unique position where he could literally do nothing and leave everything to his subordinates. However he chooses to learn about things that he doesn’t understand and attempt to become the ideal leader his guardians believe him to be. So even though Ainz doesn’t understand most of the reports that come through his office he tries to go through them anyways. Since trying to understand the state of his nation’s affairs is the least he can do in return for his subordinates diligent efforts. I hope that aspect of Ainz’s character will remain throughout the series.

I feel like it's good development for Ainz in Season 4. Something that seemed shallow in the first 3 seasons. I feel like the focus there was making the guardians grow, such as Cocytus with the Lizardmen or Sebas with Tuare etc. He's finally seeing the consequences of his half hearted claims towards the guardians, like at the beginning with Demiurge. It's a kinda' karma I guess that he's tired of the excessive work. Not only that but him feeling isolated as the guardians put him on a pedestal and his own duty gets in the way of his wanting to be close to the residents of Nazarick.

Enjoyed the video! I like Ainz’s idea for a utopia in which all races can co-exist! Kinda disproves the belief that his nature is completely and solely destroy and dominate everything evil as his negative 500 Karma would suggest. I also find it interesting that he seeks to emulate Jircniv, wishing to one day converse as fellow rulers. I enjoy learning the details the anime wasn’t able to include for whatever reason. Hope to see more of these!

Regardless of ainz competence as a leader baseline we know he was the guild leader of the strongest pvp guild in the game anyone who plays any kind of mmo knows how difficult it is to manage a guild let alone a pvp guild that is “the best” on the server he might doubt himself internally whether he consciously knows it or not his leadership and foresight is on a high level

The scene that should not have been cut from the anime, is this. After Ainz leaves, we learn that he interrupted a visit from the head of the magicians guild.He qwas in the next room and heard everything. The two talk and decide to support Ainz's proposal, to the extent they will ask him to not place an age limit on who is sent out to explore. The Support of the adventurer's guild for the sorcerer's kingdom is significant. The support of the magicians guild, is momentous. The two have influence that cannot be overstated. Not just with the common people, but with traders and merchants.

One thing one might miss was the purpose of the harvest. The tomb needs items that they can turn into gold coins that is otherwise not accessible after the game system no longer exists. Ainz owns a magic item that would turn anything into the gold coins from the game and since they are running low on the gold coins (especially after resurrecting several characters and summoned some others), thus the importance of the tax gained from the population.

New season is actually a lot better about its treatment of the source imo. It feels like the additude has become "fuck it, they can read if they want" in addition to the bonus points of actually looking like it has a budget now

Wish there was more content on the evil-eye sidestory, where the story starts over with a 'what if', and shows what happened to evil eye, as ainz joins her. You should read it if you haven't already.
