How Airline Pilots Can Make 150% Pay On Days Off

Cockpit scenes filmed with approval, in partnership with Envoy Air Inc, under Part 91... OT, or "Open Time" flying, is a great way to increase your earnings and flight time per month. Did you know that most airlines are contractually required to offer a certain amount of OT per month? You'll find a wide range of OT pay scales ranging from 115%-300% depending on the airline you work for. Picking up an OT trip takes away guaranteed off time, but can be a great opportunity if it fits into your schedule and goals for the month.

Before I became an airline pilot, I'd always heard about how pilots have the opportunity to make a good bit of extra money by "picking up" extra trips on the side. While every airline has a different process and set of policies, I hope this gives you a good overview of what you can expect. Is there something else you want to learn about becoming an airline pilot? Leave me a comment below with video ideas!

@@mattapplin5677 In order to be competitive at the largest carriers you will need a 4 year degree. Very few get hired without it. At the smaller carriers it may not be as critical.

That is exactly the point. Every video has a message that it’s produced in partnership with the airline. Swayne has also said that he’s doing these videos to help people understand the job to assist with the Pilot shortage that was around before COVID (and will come back after COVID).

When a senior airline pilot wears David Clarks and the new guy has a Bose headset, something is thematically wrong right there. I almost picked up a used set of Lightspeed....but for a local VFR pilot, G1000 or not, what for? Just about as useful as buying an iPad for the sake of having ForeFlight. A luxury which value I won't fully utilize. In this cockpit, for sure!

Wow, the contract has certainly improved since I left that shithole in 2014. I'm not concerned with Eaglevoy seeing this because I was already told I was "un-rehireable" because in spite of putting in over 2 weeks notice, the CP didn't read it until it was les than 2 weeks LOL. OT on RSV used to not pay anything unless you went over 75 hours. Glad it's better for you guys now, and I hope that the PSA jumpseat ban is still in effect.
