We made no major signings in the post Ronaldo era, apart from Van Persie who was a short term solution typical of recent years. when I was a kid one of Rooneys key attributes was his pace, he slowed down a bit when he got older and became more of a playmaker, tbh more so for the team so that other people can play in his natural position, Rooney is the embodiment of football in the sense that it's a team game and not just individual stars.

Rooney had a lot of muscle and he was insanely fast he just did not have a 6 pack ,he kinda had the more or less the Maradona build ,its really hard to get the ball from this kinds of players ,they are way stronger than they look and usually have really good balance because of the lower center of gravity .

I can't remember him having a bad game. When we had Rooney, CR7 and Tevez up front all at the same time that's the best attacking setup I have ever seen in over 30 years of watching Man United. You can't stop any one of those players scoring as an individual, but we had three of them! It was a cheat code. Imagine trying to stop those 3 passing the ball to each other and scoring. Defenders had no chance and no possible tactic.
