Dort will be paid in this league for a long time if he gets a 3 pt shot. I don’t watch a lot of thunder games, but his D on Harden really stood out in that game.

I remembered how Bledsoe D Harden up by literally staying on his left and I thought that's a cool trick. But what Dort is doing dwarfed all the gimmicks -- in many occasions, OKC left him on the island with one of the most leathal men, and he managed to survive. So impressive!
@liftbread

they need to trust in him more instead of closing out. So many open 3 point shots directly assisted by harden due to the other 4 players on the court being terrified of harden.

Look at his footwork when defending he is never really "stuck" to the floor, even when he seems to be holding position is always moving a bit his feet which allows him to react easier. Really impressive.

I think Dort is quick, strong and most importantly smart. He obviously watches tape and knows what to do in different situations. He knows avoid contact which alot of people dont since harden lives at the line lol. At 2:30 he puts hands in his face and is very careful to not invade Hardens space, how many times have we seen Harden kick out or the defender touch Harden. I just know Harden is MAD MAD everytime he sees Dort face 🤣
@dennistang5935
@dennistang5935 4 жыл бұрын
So either (1) Dort is the best defender in the league, like ever, because no one else can slow harden down as much or (2) Harden had a few bad possessions and Dort played well a few possessions. Given that Harden scored 38 points, and Dort is only now being recognized as a defender capable of stopping NBA MVP's, option 2 is much more likely. This is like when Delly was the "curry stopper" and then curry dropped 37 on 56% shooting
@crossconnector

Dennis tang or Harden goes to Arizona state every summer and Dort learned from him. He just has a high IQ and knows Harden personally
@dennistang5935

@@crossconnector my point is that ppl love to jump on bandwagons. If Lort has been doing this for 2-3 games and holding Harden to 20 points on 40% shooting, then I'll be convinced. But people jump to stupid conclusions like "blazers in 5" after they win 1 game or think TJ is amazing after a few good games. Based purely on probability, it is more likely that Harden didn't shoot well

@Mussa Toure I think it's more the fact you were dominant. Houston had a record offensive nights two games in a row. That really ain't new and has been covered before. This game had a guy slowing down James Harden which is like saying OKC had a guy melting ice with a freezer. It's interesting to see the young guy and see how Coach Nick breaks down how it was down. Take it as a compliment. Destroying a team 2 games in a row is just expected of you at this point with that offence. (Also, the OKC defense and offense those two games was hard to watch so I'm not surprised he didn't want to talk about that travesty)

Dort did contain some drives quite well, however he also fouled (which refs didn't call) on a few. Harden often goes 3-16 by himself, or even worse. No Dort required. He's not a consistent shooter he's a rhythm player. Calm down. Let's see Dort do this again and then we'll talk.
@jasoncho140
@jasoncho140 4 жыл бұрын
bluesrockfan36 did you watch the game or did you just watch the highlights? Dort is just a rookie and isn’t going to nullify Hardens offence but the rockets were obviously trying to get Dort off of Harden with screens, and it was apparent that Harden settled for jumpers because he had a hard time getting clean looks at the rim against Dort. I’ve watched Dort all season and he’s an excellent defender. His defence wasn’t a fluke. And to your point there were not many instances (if any) where Dort fouled harden and it wasn’t called. If there is any player in the league who ISNT going to get the calls he wants its Harden.
@bluesrockfan36
@bluesrockfan36 4 жыл бұрын
@@jasoncho140 That's just not true. I saw the entire game and also saw multiple times how Harden brushed off screens and attacked Dort. Do I really need to explain how going _under_ screens while defending Harden is a bad idea? This isn't good defense, this is just lucky. OKC has done this before in the playoffs, eventually they paid the price. They did the same thing with Lillard for a few games last year. There's no waving your arms that will help you once he starts knocking 3 down. But if your complaint is that teams screen to find favorable matchups in the playoffs... I don't know what to tell you. It's what's been done since screening was invented. If you can screen and get Adams to guard Harden... wouldn't you? This is not to say Dort is a bad defender, he's quite good. His penetration defense is beyond elite. But his perimeter defense is very suspect. But I have a feeling that's not his choice but the game plan for Harden, given OKC's history of defending 3pt off the dribble shooters by going under screens.
@jasoncho140
@jasoncho140 4 жыл бұрын
bluesrockfan36 ya I agree with you, going under screens isn’t a good idea. I think the only reason he does that is so that he can stay on Harden, bcz if you tries to fight through the screen most of the time he is going to get switched off. Harden did a better job and shooting the three when Dort when under in game 4. I never said going under the screen was a good idea I just said that he was good at stopping the drive and avoid fouling.

All of Adams facilitators in game 3 failed to realize that shoulder passes will never be the route against a fast-pace low-to-the-ground defense in the paint. The reason adams got picked off was that none of the passes work to his only advantage in this scenario (height). If he make himself a little bit more mobile and work the paint on a higher elevation, they'll see much more success imo.

Santi Paz To answer those people who criticize God for doing nothing and not serving justice but justice ‘will’ come. The hour of repentance (to change one’s mind) acknowledging that one is a sinner and in need of saving is upon us. That day of reckoning has not come yet because the chance is still being given to change one’s mind and to believe in Him to be saved. It’s not a joking matter to be honest... Did Jesus Christ exist and if He did, can His death, burial and resurrection be disproven, which is essentially the entire belief-system of Christendom? Find out in the movie, “The Case For Christ”. One surprisingly enjoyable and fairly accurate Hollywood movie that nobody knows about. If you are one of those people who (1) do not know why we are on earth or what purpose we serve in this world (2) believe that “something came out from nothing” (the Big Bang theory) and the probability of also having ORDER in the universe (which if you do the math is literally impossible without a Creator/intelligent designer) and not chaos resulting from this “bang”....then I would highly encourage you to wake up. It takes no work for a Christian to be saved. Bettering yourself up or making yourself “good” (or “good enough”) to outweigh your bad is a BOLD-FACED SATANIC LIE. (Who but God is good? No one is “good”! {Romans 3:10} Who in their right mind can argue their goodness to an All-Good God at trial?) “This is the work of God, that ye BELIEVE on him whom he hath sent.” (John 6:29)...*Poof* you just were saved. Though, “works” do equate to rewards! Think of it as a “video game” (though these games have FAKE LIVES have FAKE REWARDS!) “...behold, I (Jesus Christ) come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” (Revelation 22:12) Lucifer, now Satan, before The Fall was bejeweled with every stone-Ezekiel 28:13. It is surely doubtful that he would want anyone to gain what he lost, let alone being saved! “Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind...” (Colossians 2:18) Do not stack up your rewards here on earth. Invest in eternity! “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and RUST doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matt 6:19-21) SELLING OUT ONE’S SOUL. “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.” (Matt 16:26-28) THE GREAT DECEIVER “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him”. (Revelation 12:9) Do not be DECEIVED. Investigate The Truth! While you investigate, the Bible says there will be FALSE CHRISTS and FALSE GOSPELS. Do not be fooled by the many denominations! (Matt 24:24; Mark 13:22) All you need to fo is BELIEVE! (John 3:16)

Harden and Dort are both Arizona State Alumni and Harden worked out with Dort while Dort was still at ASU. Dort has a familiarity of what Harden wants to do and is smart enough to not reach into the cookie jar, when Harden attempts to draw the contact. Dort is also strong as an OX and has solid defensive fundamentals (gets low in his defensive stance). Dort reminds me of a combination of Kyle Lowry and PJ Tucker. I saw a lot of Dort at ASU as I'm a CAL hoops fan. Once Dort develops more confidence on offense and a consistent jumper, he will have a chance to be a solid starter in this league.
