Modern pundits are there to offer entry level information and entrainment, which isn't the original definition of a pundit. In reality people don't want to be lectured in tactical theory and data analysis, they want entrainment.

British punditry would be far more entertaining and insightful if broadcasters like Sky and BT did not feel obliged to employ ex-pros, simply off the back of their sporting achievements, and gave more airtime to actual sports journalists. Look at the very few times BT give Mathew Syed a slot and you'll realise how mind-numbingly dreadful pundits lie Robbie Savage, Chris Sutton and co. actually are.

Promotion obviously gives a money prize but being promoted to the premier league is a promise for a lot more income for a few years, while being relegated means a significant portion of your income might go away soon. This is why so many teams who get relegated fall apart in their first season in the championship (aston villa for example). You are forced to give up important players and now you're stuck competing with 20+ teams who have become used to their situation in the championship. Combine a team that dominated the championship, full on confidence, with the ability to go out on a shopping spree for talent, and that's what wolves are. Moreover, they have an identity and a philosophy, which is unfortunately not nearly as common in England as in other countries. Credit where credit is due, they are extracting tons of talent from their players in a system that fits each member of the team. You can see similar success stories in other leagues as well, such as Alaves and Real Betis in la liga and Parma in serie A.

There are a lot of reasons, most of which boil down to their Portuguese connections. Not only are Neves, Jota, and Helder Costa evolving rapidly into world class players, alongside their already world class older talents in Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho, but Nuno Espuritu Santu is a world class coach who has coached teams before with at least Europa League ambitions, which I think Wolves are looking for in at least two seasons.
