Dad (and boss only in name), you're a soft spoken man with a heart that's unequaled. You've raised your daughter to be far too savvy to allow you to remain out of the camera's eye. Welcome to the channel!!!

As a father of one daughter I can see and hear the love and pride "the boss" has in his children and their growth into young men and women. Stuff is stuff but the value is in his children.....profound and so true!

A man's most precious "asset" is his family - all else comes a lowly 2nd. May I please tell you that you have raised your children to be strong individuals - so be proud. As long as you get up one more time than you get knocked down, you are a winner and imparting that strength to your children will mean that they too are winners - have a good work ethic and are not scared of a little bit of work. Please do not be so camera-shy because you have many many people out here in KZfaqland that see you as an example to emulate.

Part of the measure of a person is not who they are when everything is fine, but what they are after adversity strikes. Stuff is just that -- stuff. It can be replaced. Thank you and God Bless your family for sharing tough things.

"I didn't have a complete understanding of what I valued ...." Oh my! Sir, if these words touched only few people, your discomfort from discussing this topic was worth it many times over. This is wisdom that does not come from textbooks or academia. Bossman, you give yourself some kudos for allowing the events to shape a worldview that is badly missing in 2022 society. The Lord puts things into our life to shape us, refine us, mature us. Your priorities were shuffled for the good of you, and of your family (e.g. the young lady standing beside you). "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." Phil 2:3-4. You are a walking demonstration.

My late father often told me me, when they were looking for a house and bakery in 1959, he made sure it was not in a flood zone. He never was in a flood, neither me, wasnt even born at that time. But that was so important to him. Just about 5 km from here is a river , the rhine(its germany, near cologne) . The villages close to it know what floods are. Despite the litte distance we are in a high spot in this rather flat area. We never had any problem with water, also not in very strong rain, when houses just 300 m from us had flooded basements. Every time i hear about raising rhine levels or heavy rain, i am so glad we are in right this spot, because my dad choose well.

Yes, he did choose well. Be Bless and “high and dry”. Thanks, Ken.

Well...now I know where you young ladies get your 'presence of character' - your drive - from! And Dad...I wish more 'fathers' were just like you...me thinks the world would be much brighter for it! And Dad, you can be well chuffed with your daughters sense of taking pride in their work ethic. I know it takes teamwork to raise children, so, and this may be ask, a 'Mom' interview would be nice. Thanks for the great video! Cheers to a great 2022!

I completely understand the loss of what I call replacement consumable parts that were collected. You never really understand the value in dollars and convenience of all those parts until you lose them. It sucks. And for the record, you young ladies are blessed beyond words to have a Dad like your Dad.

Hey, "Boss". Do you know how many kids want to work in the business as a career? Surely a couple of them will want to pursue other interests. Yes, "Boss", you have to do this again because you love your daughter and will help her grow this channel. Em, keep up the good work. This is one of my favorite channels. I am so tired of the political arguing. This is refreshing. Yes, politics may affect the business, but if it is discussed, I am sure you won't drone on about it.

You said that any man would have done the same thing. As much as I’d like to think so, I know better than that. Quite a story. Some people can rise to an occasion and immediately make instant decisions and summon strength to do the seemingly impossible. The Lord helps those who help themselves. Great to see a man step up and do what you did for the love of his family. Would hope to shake your hand someday. Good job. Thanks for sharing.

1996 we went through the same experience. A tiny trickle of a creek on the property turned into a river after 16inches of rain. You lose your peace after that. We also sold our house, and at the closing the buyer's attorney mentioned that the house is no longer in a flood plain and flood insurance was not required. Wow!

Your father's experience and awakening to true value is parallel to what made "The Greatest Generation" great. Facing real hardship with life and death implications focuses one on what is truly important and what is ephemeral. Your father rose to the challenge and likely is uncomfortable with receiving accolades for doing so. His humility and strength is to be admired.

Have you thought about getting a smaller tracked log loader like a JD 2154g? Out west here "shovel logging" rules. It would make it more practical to harvest the "tops" of the hardwoods for firewood. Bunching them and logs for the longer skids for your grapple skidder. Excavator with grapples will work too, but clearance sucks for passing over stumps and not so handy for loading trucks.
