Don't waste your time. Government officials have no desire to have to deal with small contracts and especially ones that require hand holding of the contractor. A small contract takes ten times the the number of hours to process per dollar contracted. When they can't get around it the task is usually given to a new hire that doesn't know any better and after their first experience they vow to never do a small contract again. If you really want to get into government contracting seek a contracting position in a mid to large firm. Most are hiring right now. The government is always hiring contracting officers also. After five years then go out on your on.

Not true. I’ve won large and small SDVOSB contracts and so have several of my Veteran friends. It’s not easy, but it’s not impossible. Most people are going into government contracting because they don’t want to work for someone else.
