14/21 for me. And I'm sorry but those stereotypes are TRUE for Chinese parents. My parents never showed physical affection (even though it seems like they're trying to make up for it now that we have all left the nest...), were thrifty as hell (dollar store for almost everything!), expected us to do well in school (I'm surprised math didn't come up in the aforementioned quiz...) but never bothered with report cards/PTA meetings, used us and our accomplishments as their weapons of choice in talks with their friends, ALWAYS fought over the bill when we ate out with friends and relatives, made the worst herbal remedies using ginseng (which I kindly refused when I turned 18...), had the DUMBEST beliefs when it came to traditional Chinese medicine (the bane of wildlife conservation!), and took away our red envelopes when we were really young (until we got old enough and figured out that they weren't suppose to!).

Well in china, just like the west, there are sub-cultures and people in different social hierarchy as well, So it is quite normal for Dan to have "no so Asian" parents. I kinda feel sorry for Mike, coz I don't have parents like that.

Mine got an 11 and neither are Asian! I did have an elderly friend from Hunan province. I called her Tai Tai and she taught me her traditions, foods, stories and behaviors. I am so grateful to her for her love. Also she cooked a mean hot pot in winter!

it's true, my mom would stand and hesitate and my dad would just pat my back. Asian parents show affection would smile, when we fall or accidentally drop our favorite food like precious Oolong tea or dropping kimchi or rice then yell to eat it or just yell.

12/21 so I'm more of a Dan lol. My parents are from Hong Kong, so even before coming to the United States, they were some of the most Westernized people in Asia. They taught me everything they knew about traditional Chinese culture, but always thought of Americanization as a key to success in America. My parents are very affectionate and love to eat out (that 2-star Michelin Italian restaurant Mike mentioned would be like heaven for them).

+Double Chen I am just wondering how comfortable Asians are about being generalized about? This is not meant as criticism but to give you an idea what I mean, My wife and I took this test along with you and I scored a 0 no surprise I am North American, while my wife scored 3. And she was raised entirely in Asia, but Southeast Asia. I have long known your show is about East Asia in general and China in specific, which there is nothing wrong and I enjoy watching it and learning from it. But Asia is west, central, north, south and southeast too. Do Asians mind East Asia/China being "the Asia/Asian" ? Thanks. Peace.
