Hey Calvin, as an M4 Competition owner, a few things: 1) The competition exhaust is 99% the same as the standard exhaust except the tips and a very slightly different backbox. The difference is mostly in the map. If anything, the comp exhaust is slightly quieter but with the burbles, pops and bangs turned up. (2018+ models are much quieter due to the opf filters so have a bigger backbox to compensate but still sound nothing like either of the older cars) 2) That deeper sound you referred to in the non-comp m4 is the active sound (the fake audio pumped through the speakers you can hear in the video), M4 Competitions had this turned down a bit and the later software updates turns them down a bit more (there's 4 levels you can set it to, older non-comps had this cranked all the way). Mine (2019) came set at one of the lower ones from factory. Just swapping the exhausts without mapping or coding doesn't make much difference if any. 3) The Competition has different suspension and steering settings and most of the differences between comp and non-comp are mostly software-related apart from the wheels, suspension and cosmetic differences. But it accounts for the difference the way they handle and put down power. You could get a lot of the improvements just from updating the software alone, including the GTS updates to the DCT gearbox.

That’s actually a very good review mate, I test drive both Comp and non pack car and ended buying the non Comp pack because strangely it’s power delivery made it feel quicker, the Comp pack was also noticeably harsher ride on U.K. roads. The non Comp feels much more old school m car that could kill you at every squeeze of the throttle. The Comp pack is more refined in its power delivery. I think over time more will realise the non Comp car is actually the better driver

You can code in non-comp m3 to GTS or comp specs.. cause everything is electric: transmission respond, suspention, steering wheel and so on.

Hi Calvin , I bought my 2018 F80 M3 Competition in 2019, I traded a 2015 330d M Sport against it. The ride quality is rock hard even in comfort mode. It's wicked fast I haven't driven it much 7,000 miles on it as at March 2022 so it's effectively a new car still. My 330d had the Harmon Kardon hifi the F80 has the HK hifi too but it sounds way superior in the M3 for some reason. Thanks for the video !

The f80 is my favorite. I think it will go down as the best m3 and best looking of all time.

Can’t afford either, but I’d go for the non competition pack clean HPI one every time, even if the black one wasn’t a CAT S, i still think id go for the white one because it’s better specced for day to day usage, I mean how often are you going to be able to use the comp upgrades to their full extent? A bog standard M3 is a weapon anyway...

From what I understand, the diff, steering and damper settings are different. But it's software. Also exhaust is very slightly different.

Without abusing these cars but still enjoying them I'm sure people could get another 5 years out of them without any problems. and still get a decent resale value from trading in for another or selling. So great value for a HP customer but I wouldn't lease these.

Cant believe you've never seen a full leather dash M3. I had YMB competition pack, full grey leather higher spec than your white F80 once you've had full leather you'll never not have it its admit £2.5k upgrade. Heads up and Harmon Kardon is a must

The White car doesn’t have a M performance exhaust, the back box is a standard M3 box. The internal sound is fake not the exhaust.
