Islam has a long and rich history in Bangladesh. Today, Islam is the dominant religion in the country, with around 90 per cent of the population following Islam. The country’s Islamic heritage is reflected in its art, architecture, and daily life. Contrary to popular belief, Islam as a religion was well-established in present-day Bangladesh long before the advent of Shāh Jalāl of Sylhet (d. 815 AH). As a matter of fact, Arab and Persian tradesmen had entered Chittagong as early as the 7th century CE. ancient coins dating back to the Abbasid caliphate confirm the presence of early Muslim traders in Bangladesh. These coins were discovered in Rajshahi and also in Comilla.

It's not a miracle. It was greed. Many converted Islam without knowing about it for land because most of the population were very poor and from the lower cast of other religious beliefs.

This is where they (uneducated Hindus) lack knowledge and logic. Even the pagan Arabs in Arabia, were reverts to Islam. Islam started with the first human, Adam (AS) and every human is born Muslim, but will follow the religion of their parents, until they are introduced to Islam or other ideology’s. A majority of Arabs were worshipping idols before Mohammed (SAW), introduced Islam to them again. Following monotheism, believing in the one ☝🏼 true GOD, which was previously taught to nations, through other prophets.

Actually East Bengal (modern day Bangladesh) was also a non hindu region before Islam and hindus were also minority at that time. They originally came from hindi belt regions that is why DNA of Bangladeshi Muslims and Bangladeshi Hindus are a bit different. Before Islam, East Bengal was majority buddhist and some animists also lived there.

Both of my parents from the southern Division of Bangladesh which is "Barishal", which used to call "Bakala"/(بقلة,) or Bangala (البنغالية,) where lots of Persian, Arab-Turk traders came through ocean of Kuwakata,and its now Muslim majority, Alhamdulillah. Even our tribes have Turkish or Arabic names, Like mine which is Sharder (Şerdar), My mom's family calls Saiyed (صياد،)

Beautiful, yet saddened by the fact that so many have forgotten the contributions of the masters of heart sciences in Bangladesh, otherwise known as sufis. We have become hardened and we often fall into the trap of thinking that we are smarter and closer to the straight path than our pious predecessors. May Allah purify all of our hearts to the max. 🤲🏽
