Hoshimachi Suisei rose to the top of the VTuber industry in a unique way. A way that absolutely no one would ever think of doing. Though falling flat in her face initially, Suisei's passion and stubbornness turned her into the virtual star that she is now. In this video, we unravel how that happened.

Suisei Hoshimachi was originally an independent vtuber that joined with Hololive. Even though she's adopted by Hololive, she is, by no means, a lesser to her colleagues. She's a hardworking girl who always strives to improve herself and do her best. Suisei is incredible. You should worship her, yes. She's called Hexagon Idol for a reason. She's very multitalented. She can kick your ass in Tetris, she can cook, she can sing, she can act, she can draw (her model was originally drawn by herself!), she can do impressive vtubing work: editting, planning, entertaining, EVERYTHING. She's amazing. We could only hope to be as half as grossly incandescent as she is. You should subscribe to her. You should pledge your life to her and swear an oath that you'll never betray Suisei Hoshimachi. Life by her content. Breathe her songs. Quaff her drawings. Kneel whenever she does zatsudan. You must tune into her streams daily. You must marry, breed, and create a lineage of Hoshiyomis to subscribe to Suisei! Suisei is a way of life- No, Suisei IS life!!! Yes, SUB to Sui

YES, suisei still being "Suisei" after joining hololive imo is one of big factor for her success, i think its not a secret that most of hololive members (or other big vtuber agencies) is already working on the vtuber scene or at least have a necessary skill to become vtuber even some of them telling their struggle before joining hololive on stream, but Suisei struggle is well record and we can see her growth, the fact that we can see it make it more personal than just hear it from stories, which makes her viewer want her to succeed more than ever and as non jp speaking holofans im grateful that "the story of hoshimachi suisei" video by Aburage115 is realeased at the perfect time when people like me start knowing hololive

This is why I am a Hoshiyomi. I might be a not be a full-time Hoshiyomi, but I still am one. She was an indie before hololive adopted her, with her whole model and lore still intact as her identity. That just means that hololive was persuaded by Suisei, and that made me feel that she was the chosen one. And look how far she's gone because of her stubbornness. A singer I am grateful of, an idol everybody in her agency loves and admires, and a vtuber that everyone knows and loves. Taku Inoue even noticed her shine. I'm so proud of our shining comet. Edit: term correcting.

Her music and voice are top tier, her general content is entertaining, and she has a versatile enough use of voice, tone, and personality to make her interactions entertaining and engaging. I wanna talk about how comet theme suits her so well, comet is a microscopic object in vastness of space something you gonna have hard time to see, but when it's gonna blast past you it's gonna shine as a brightest star, and if it hits the planet impact gonna be extremely destructive, and well Suisei was just like a comet in saturated space of vtubers until she hit just the right spot trough her hard work and determination, she managed to make people notice her notice how bright she shines and became a real star...

Suisei is a true idol. Like, putting aside the whole singer performer part of being an idol. I mean that she deserves being idolised. The woman is so talented, so stubborn (in a good way) (Edit: persistent might be the better word), so hardworking. I can't help but admire her. Vtubing has many great singers, some might arguably even be better than Suisei but she's the only one I refer to as a goddess or queen of singing or music. I don't even watch her streams a lot (partially because I don't understand Japanese but lately I just don't have time to watch streams at all) but Suisei is one of my favourite Vtubers. Not the first admittedly but she's in the top three. And honestly, even when not understanding her she's very fun to watch. She can be so very cool but also be an absolutely adorable dork the next second. Also, I have to mention how impressive her visuals are. Her outfits are iconic (her original indie ones less so, but they are still really cute) and they all look great, she has a really attractive design and the way she moves in 3D... She has this natural grace and elegance (or is being a dork, which is really cute and funny). Whenever I talk/type about Suisei's 3D I always feel the need to mention that it seems to me that she almost naturally walks like she is strutting on stage rather than just walk like a regular person.

There’s a lot I would love to say about Suisei and how much I admire her, but I’m sure it’s already been said by most in this comment section lol. Instead, I’ll talk about 2 key factors that are worth mentioning in more detail that played heavily towards Sui's success. Honestly, Susei is what every person with dreams and aspiration should strive to be. Hard work doesn’t always pay off but as the saying goes, *“It’s better to have tried and failed rather than living in regret of not trying at all”.* Suisei went through some extremely hard times and being rejected by multiple talent agencies will do a number on one psyche. Not everyone is strong-willed enough to recover from their first rejection, let alone attempted to reapply to said agencies a second time. No matter how many times you fail, as long as you maintain that Grindset mentality then nothing is unachievable. Hard work doesn’t pay off all the time but it will eventually so long as you continue to persevere. Suisei is a prime example of just that and my admiration/respect for her couldn’t be any higher than it already is. As mentioned in this video, luck did play a key role in her success, but I believe one of the *most important* turning-points in her career was the Project Winter Collab. Even though she wasn’t directly associated with the members of Hololive, their act of kindness/friendliness to reach out and include her is what gave Suisei the exposure/stage she needed to reach out towards the broader audience. After that collab, her career as a Vtuber snowballed, growing and massing a larger audience of dedicated fans by the day (which is kind of poetic since Project “Winter” lol). To me, this is definitely one of the key moments in her life that gave her the opportunity to soar into the stars and it’s one of the many reasons why I love Hololive out of any other Vtubing group. They all support and build each other up like family, and it makes me proud to be a long time fan of them all. ^~^

Considering this was before the pandemic boom, 6k in a year in an already saturated market is...honestly pretty good. Idols are a dime a dozen in Japan. Suisei had an uphill battle that most singers would have given up on. The fact that Suisei decided to go the direction of vtuber was a pretty huge gamble as she can only get by on her skills and talents as oppose to her looks. There are a ton of indie vsingers out there and even indie vsingers that actually play instruments ontop of singing such as Saki Ch. it really is impressive that Suisei made it at all and that's pretty amazing.

Honestly not just the 6k subs but having a steady viewer rate of a 100 viewers per stream for an indie pre-vtuber boom is still pretty remarkable.

@@J_Benn Honestly it's pretty easy to see why though with Suisei. She's just the type of girl that grows a very dedicated fanbase. A girl with loads of charisma, drive to succeed, stubbornness beyond measure, great business sense, extreme passion and an unflinching will to get what she wants. We are talking about the girl who spent 2 whole years slowly breaking down Aqua's walls because she wanted to be friends with her because she found her cute after all.

I think it's so important as a VTuber to be dedicated and focused, because you put in so much effort even before you make your first Stream or weven Tweet. You need to think of a character, lore, you need a Model and so on, and if you can't spend much money it's even harder. The audience doesn't see all the blood, sweat and tears that go into your content. I am really happy that she pulled through and was able to join cover and to get the audience she deserves. Also it shows how strong she is and that she stays true to herself by not abandoning her persona and holding on to it. Not everyone would've done that! I am really happy for her and every other VTuber reaching their goals and it makes me proud to be a VTuber myself!

There ia a member in Hololive today that you just know that will accomplish whatever goal she might have set for herself, regardless of how much time it might take, she will accomplish said goal. Not just because of her talent (but, of course, talent is a big plus), but also because of her absolute passion for her craft, and extremely hard working nature. That's why I love Stellar Stellar so much, besides it being one of the best songs I've ever heard, its basically Suisei's story compressed into one song. Its like Suisei telling us "Want to know who I am? Want to know my life, my hopes and my dreams? Ok, then listen to THIS." And then you hear it... "I've become a shooting star! Stellar Stellar"

This shows why being smart in what you want to pursue is important. Suisei chose the hard way, but not recklessly because she did her share of work, research and tried, failed and succeeded and as we know the more risk, the more rewards which is what she's currently reaping, the rewards.

I am one of the people who think Suisei is the best vtuber singer. My personal favorite is and will probably always be Towa, but every time i hear any of Suisei's covers and singing streams i can't help but think she is THE best. I always am stunned by how well she can control her voice and how much impact she has. No one has managed to leave such a strong impression on me before. In all the concerts that Hololive held, especially the latest, i felt like Suisei stole the show every time. And i still can't get over how stubborn and determined she is. She was rejected by many before, mainly for the same reason, and she still came back unwilling to change that main factor that got her rejected before. She knew that was her only chance and she wasn't willing to give up on it. I am sure i would've been less interested in Hololive if not for Suisei, i probably wouldn't have bought tickets for all their concerts if Suisei was not there, Suisei is one of their best catches to promote music events i'm sure.

Machita Chima is my favourite vtuber singer. Her voice is so incredible, and she’s so well trained that she is incapable of doing any genre poorly. Suisei is very high up there for me too, her deeper range is definitely a selling point. If anyone is interested in checking Chima out I recommend CH4NGE and Rabuka, they’re incredibly covers.

Every time I find one of these mini-documentaries that tell the transition and the moments that the artist went through in her initial stages and how she ignored the adversities to be the star that she is now, it breaks me and only increases the respect and admiration that I have towards the artist. (I'm not someone who knows the idol industry, I'm still getting used to the differences it has with the "western" music industry. I met the idol world with hololive, so I'm still learning)

Big respect for the dedication. The insistence, really. Especially being Hoshimachi Suisei and only Suisei. It reminds me of my own struggles and insistence of youth. Now that I don't have the need to struggle as much I don't really push hard. I can't really push hard. I burned out. My back hurts and my brain goes dumdum... I'm barely 23. I could go on writing an essay about our lord and saviour Hoshimachi Suisei, on how she inspires us to be stronger and to keep on pursuing our goals and passions, on how she never gives up, on how she never lost herself and much more. She's one of the biggest role models I know out there, standing so strong despite the pain she went through. Her music is an entire essay of it's own, no words can describe it. Anyways, thank you so much for this video and for letting us more about her and one of her greatest strengths, hearing what happened behind the scenes with her even if it is again makes me love her even more. I'm a huge Hoshiyomi and Suisei is one of my favourite Vtubers, just everything about her really pulls you in. Also, does anyone share their birthday with Sui-chan?

Back when she did her 1st solo live, I was hesitating on wether or not I should buy a ticket for it. So I decided to learn more about her, I watched a video that recaps her whole story, and I cried tbh, and it's personally really rare to be emotional like that. I then bought the ticket and I'm glad I did, I'm a big fan of her ever since that moment. Now everytime I listen to Stellar stellar I become emotional for some reasons.

I owe everything Hololive gave me to Suisei. After all, it was her Tetris skills that got me interested in "A VTuber group Hololive". That one "What Suisei Can Do in 20 Seconds" tetris clip literally hooked me so hard. So if SUISEI gave up and never pulled off the insane journey she did, I probably would have never discovered Hololive, or at least have gotten into it right before the pandemic started. It would have been a much lonelier time I guess and I would be without all the smiles and laughs that Hololive has given me. And it's honestly not just Suisei but all of Hololive that gives this feeling. They're all such an inspiration and full of charm. I also VERY MUCH appreciate all the clippers Hololive has. Without you clippers, I don't know if Hololive would have even grown as far and explosively as it did to be honest. Especially to overseas communities. I feel so motivated, but at the same time a negative feeling as great as that motivation wells up within me... because that motivation just gets corrupted by.. honestly. My lack of self-esteem and ambition. I have grand dreams and goals, but they're all hollow ambitions. I want to be the best at everything I do, simply because that'd mean I'd be better than others at it or I'd get attention (even though I don't like having a lot of attention. My whole life's been contradicting like that, it's stressful). I'd like to say I'm a lot like Suisei, where I'm mostly a jack of all trades (though I'm not a master at anything or even close to one at anything). I can pick things up pretty quickly (I was always better than others at pretty much anything (obviously not everything though) at the starting line, but people usually outgrew me fairly quickly because I just can't put in the _continuous_ effort to be better. I put in a lot of effort when I do try, but I the problem is I can only bring myself to try once in a blue moon.) but I never follow through with it or I self-sabotage and can't stop myself from self-sabotaging. It's such a helpless feeling and I can't help feeling sorry for myself. Like, I literally _KNOW_ I could get better at what I want to do, I could reach my goals. But I just don't. I dream and dream and think about it all the time, but I can't bring myself to act. Ugh, I'm just venting at this point. But I don't know how to fix it. I mean, obviously, just ACT. Just start DOING the work and put in effort. But I just _CAN'T_ and it's pulling me apart from the inside and I loathe it so so much. It's such a heavy weight on my mental. I feel like I'm chained down by this and now I just feel like a worthless sack of meat. Maybe I'm too afraid to fail and never achieve my dreams so I don't even try to have an excuse, but that's so STUPID. If I don't try then I'll ACTUALLY not achieve it. God I hate it all. I wish I could open up a status window and re-program my brain so I can delete my negatives.. but even that wish is merely an extension of my lack of willingness to act. Instead of facing reality and acting, I just daydream about fixing my problems. I'm so hopeless I should have never been born. Welp. I know this comment is going to disappear and never be seen so I'll just post it. But if anyone does see it.. what do I do? What the hell is wrong with me, why am I such a dysfunctional human being?

It's impressive how she kept pushing for what she wanted when it would have been easier to compromise. Keeps going despite smaller numbers. Refuses to give up being Suisei when that was the price of admission. Going back to a company that had said no. Making friends with the talents when the company wasn't as supportive as it should have been.
