When the video says 'Trinidad took his first title from De La Hoya' notice that the IBF title is being held up behind Trinidad. It wasn't his first title match against De La Hoya, it was a unification match for Oscar's WBC belt and Tito's IBF belt. It was Tito's 15th defence. He comes second only to Henry Armstrong for most title defences at welterweight. He took that first title six years earlier.

Hopkins & Lewis was both older then there rival counterpart and both where later-bloomers so to speak in the art of boxing despite also being older. While things took longer for them to climb up and earn recognitoopn, both men would go on to bot only become better boxers with time but also have longer lasting glorious careers in the ring. That's your opinion. I respect it. However, I think you are wrong. Tito Is beloved. His heart is intact. When you have a record like his, and you have the heart to fight in the ring against the best and the toughest, Nobody can take your heart.

@@solitario7713 I didn't mean what I said above in a disrespectful way. Tito is one of my favourite fighters. It took a very special performance from Bernard to make Tito look lost and helpless and eventually stop him. It says a lot that he only lost to all time greats who were naturally bigger than him.

@@gariejoyce5263 Man there are so many videos of nasim Richardson saying that Tito had Las Vegas style wraps, wich are not permitted in New York. Thats it. Nothing more nothing less. He went on to be the first person to ever stop Ricardo maryorga. Your a casual boxing fan if you don't know all the sanctioning bodies have different rules for tape and guaze 🤦‍♂️. Trinidad and floyd mayweather use the same exact hand wraps becuase it protects your hand from injury. It gives absolutely no advantage in power. Only protects your wrist and hand from damage. Thats why floyd only fights in Las Vegas. He has also said it in interviews. BTW. Canelo uses the hand wrap style. You can see the video before the Golovkin fight

The Mercado fight where Hopkins won his first world title was actually a rematch from where the first bout was declared a draw. I believe that Bernard was knocked down two or three times in that first bout, if my memory is correct. But, Hopkins was on fire in that rematch; couldnt miss with thr straight right hand.
