I mean the idea made for great entertainment, but from a practical standpoint, putting your unruly kid on a tv show to punk them in front of the world, isnt a good idea for their mental lol

I remember a 5 year old boy going to the intervention program for stealing money for sweet from his mother and being thrown in a cell full of men 10x bigger than him and when he got out, he was suspended by the school for bad behaviour. This shows how ineffective these programs are. These programs made children afraid to go to prison and for that, they would find ways to commit crime and break the rules and not get caught at the same time

I feel like the program would’ve actually helped the kids if they just sat down with the inmates, and the inmates share their real life stories and hardships and actually give the kids a reason not to wanna be in that life anymore..but screaming at them and spitting in they face is just not gonna work it’s just gonna have them more angry and wanna fuck some shit up after the program..because me I would be pissed if I had a bunch of people screaming in my face for hoursss 😭

That actually happened a few times. The truth is none of these methods will work when a kid is too deep in that lifestyle. They know what they doing they know the risks but they still going to choose because a lot of kids are wired differently and brought up differently

I worked for a juvenile treatment facility and i did a paper on the effect of these programs on recidivism. The problem i found was that you can teach these kids the skills they need but once they return to their environment and don't have a support system, they go back to how they were. Alot of the kids in the program I worked in had absent parents, abusive parents or caregivers, neglectful as well as some belonging to gangs. They don't have wrap around services when they return home. There were a few that came back more than once. From what I know, one of the girls I worked with became a meth addict. Several of them are doing well and a few have kids. I've run into a few. One of the girls works in a group home and is now a supervisor. I'm not sure where alot of the boys are but I know at least one of them was killed by gang violence. Nothing is 100% But the home I'd EXACTLY where these issues start. If the families aren't willing to change then they can't expect their kids to change.

Once they started constantly making seasons, at that point it was all about content and money to them, and the fact that they knew it most likely wouldn’t work just makes them greedy

Therapy DOES work. But not every therapist is a GOOD therapist. Therapy is something that you have to be consistent with and some people, including kids, struggle with talking about their trauma. Hell I've been in therapy for 8 years and there's still things I haven't scratched the surface of. But I've learned how to deal with my anger and be a better mother and person. But when the parents are the ones causing the trauma and the child is still in that environment it can't work.

The issue with it, in particular for the lower middle class black kids just speaking from experience and just from real world knowledge, alot of those kids needed therapy, and somebody to actually give them mfs a hug and actually be patient in understanding them not just trying for a couple hours then giving up and telling them theyre gonna be failure, they didnt need be threatened with jail which majority of them have probably already be threatened with their entire life just off the fact that they are black

I went to therapy when I was a kind and we only played with stuff I liked. It really helped me and I didn’t realize I was going to therapy for me it was just playing. Even if kids can’t understand it. It still helps them ❤

I wonder if it;s less likely to work on kids with messed up home lives, and more likely to work on those that have a stable situation at home. But then there are a bunch of other variables like if the kid has mental health issues or if the kid was just negatively influenced by someone. It's a lot of moving parts. So, I'm glad it's not my job to find a solution, not even for my own kid ('cause they don't exist).😅

Fear tactics work better if it's paired with actual steps on how to get out of the situation. The fact that BST had an increase in chances of them going to jail tells me they didn't do that part. Fear alone is not as effective. And these kids prolly needed thearpy more than anything. Weird these parents would rather pay to put them through trauma than to get them that help. And the fact that they crying in most episodes says a lot about underlying issues they dealin with...
