Two other things that helped women were department stores specifically Selfridge's with its washrooms for women. The other is the postal system that allowed women to communicate securely.

Once a woman has changed the relationship between herself and her environment, she cannot return to the blissful ignorance she left. Motion, of necessity, involves a change in perspective. ~Commissioner Pravin Lal

There's so many political cartoons against women riding bicycles. And it was terrible what happens to the women who simply riding a bike. Some were beaten, others had society targeted against them, and some were even arrested.

I lived in a county with excellent public transportation, so never needed to learn how to drive anything from a bike to a car. Now I have shifted to a country where public transport is non-existent and everyone travels in their transport. I feel so stuck so many times, unable to step out. So I understand what they mean when you are forced to live in four walls without one's willingness. And the historical portrayal of the events in the video is correct and not an exaggeration.

Women were quite capable of riding horses and carriages. This story is interesting, but a bit of an exaggeration, at least compared to my own family traditional narratives.

The multiple acts of discrimination as soon as they started riding was so absurd that it entered the realm of comedy, but I guess it was necessary to get the point across in just a few minutes.

They take the worst possible scenarios and concentrate them into a 1:31 propaganda video. Probably there were moments of absurd misogyny I suppose. All I have is personal anecdotes and the stories of one of my Grandmothers. She used to say how proud she was when women were permitted to vote. It was a clear victory, but that was about the only feminist topic she ever discussed. Everybody respected her, and she rode a bike without incident...that I am aware of.

Please don't be ignorant and take everything literally. He meant "the wind in her face for the first time" on a vehicle (bicycle). Woman wouldn't "drive" a horse or a carriage back then.

There isn't any anti-men shit in the video outside of things that are historically accurate and reflective of the time period. The comment section is as if the video were about castration or something. Even if you think gender equality is a finished battle, it clearly wasn't when this was set, so what are you actually complaining about? The celebration of historical victories?
