Willow tree cuttings are usually taken at a diameter of about 1/4" but when we pruned the willow tree in the backyard this year, we took some cuttings there were about 1" in diameter to see how they would do. It did take a little bit longer than usual for these cuttings to grow roots but nonetheless they look like they will have some outstanding growth this year.
