You need to take into account that Samsung is a monopoly, a union of many big companies that all share same bussines philosophy and brand, but independent in the rest. Apple Inc. is a single company, no union of companies or anything. Also Samsung is 79 years old, Apple is only 41 years old. I'm not saying Samsung is not big, but apple is a more impressive company if you think about what they have done in comparison of what, for ex., Samsung electronics alone have done.

@@Tightan About the korea's defense industry, Hanwha and Hyundai already had overwhelming possession, and Lee Kun-hee,( at that time chairman of Samsung, and also father of current chairman Lee Jea-yong), was unconscious and close to death. So there are stories about Samsung's astronomical inheritance taxes. it is widely known that Samsung sell defense and chemical companies to Hanwha to reduce inheritance taxes and secure cash to prepare for smooth inheritance. Maybe Samsung is investing some of money from that deal to bio for the future. Now people said its a win-win deal. Hanwha was able to further develop its military and chemical industries, which were their strengths. In general, when the head of a cheabol dies, companies were divided into several companies, but Samsung maintained them through the process of preparing for inheritance.

For the past decade the 2 companies have pretty much just copied each other with smartphone features. Although they are rivals, Samsung makes over $100 for each iPhone sale because they supply oled displays and many other parts use in iPhones.

i know this is a 6 year old video, but i'm surprised you didn't mention the family who runs samsung. i think a big factor that contributes to how samsung managed to grow so big is that it's a family run business. each members of the family handle different divisions of the company, and they are connected to another huge corporations in korea through marriage. their family tree is pretty interesting to look at.

ACTUALLY only one of the 2 Petronas Twin Towers was built by Samsung, the other tower was built by some other company I forget. It was because the Malaysian government wanted to have a race between the 2 companies to see who will finish building it first, but in the end they decided that the pinnacle should go up together.

Apple targets rubes who have more money than ability to use their brain. Samsung competes with other makers. They're all too big for their own good though. Samsung like 3M is essentially monopolies. Potentially dangerous for all economic conditions worldwide, and when they have their own military, they're a dictator nation state unto themselves.

Apple iPhone uses LG displays, Sony camera sensors, Toshiba NAND storage, Samsung RAM, and Samsung manufactured processors. Samsung Galaxy uses their own displays, own camera sensors, own NAND storage, own RAM, and their own processor. That's what separates the 2 companies. Samsung has far more potential and it only improves each year.

The way the video is put together is very annoying. Organize that information better, no one wants to hear Samsung said 55 times in 11 minutes and hear that the company is great and huge. Just say what makes it great and huge. Most likely the open ended logo. The information could have been compressed into a 2 minute video.

as a context, the largest shipbuilding industry is currently in Korea and two names popped up on the list : Hyundai heavy and Samsung heavy, these shipbuilding companies is so big that they manufacture their own steel plate and even made custom heavy weight crane. ( for comparison most shipyard order the steel plate from other companies)

I'm slightly scared now.... I do not...absolutely do not want Samsung smart home products now. With Google and their advanced AI research coupled with Samsung's arm... They could be the new bourgeois..... They could hold people hostage by simply locking their homes up from the cloud .... Maybe even brick it.... Beginning is super cool I haven’t seen videos this far back - that water and direction of the wave looks like skeleton coast in Namibia - cold, icy, sharky waters that fuse together to make one hell of a ride 😮 You have definitely gotten better at weaving in the knowledge with a compelling story as this was more like a fact list, interesting, but not as exciting.

We use Samsung imaging equipment (this is what is made by the digital imaging arm you mentioned) in our radiology department, the image quality is amazing, the reliability a bit hit and miss, but I still love the look on people faces when we wheel the mobile on to a ward and they see Samsung written all over it, they can't get their heads round the idea that Samsung make more than just phones and TVs. If only they knew how big they actually are!

And South Korea is only about the size of Kentucky What is amazing is a company in such a relatively small country like South Korea can do so much while others flounder with malcontents with riots where half of everyone is on food stamps. There are likely some bad things about Samsung's size and domination of certain markets but I can't help but be extremely impressed by the quality of Samsung products and the ingenuity of the Korean people. As a Korean, it's amusing to see many foreigners framing Samsung and Apple in a competitive stance. Due to South Korea's unique corporate structure, in areas like stocks, Samsung and Samsung Electronics are often viewed as entirely separate entities. Thus, Samsung and Apple are not in competition. Apple competes only with Samsung Electronics, and has no relation to areas like insurance, heavy industries, and defense. Apple is merely a good competitor within the electronics domain.

That's only a small part in samsung. They also have department stores creditcards bio products and homeshopping either. Since samsung is too big so they were already once devided into cj group and sinsaegae and jaeil group and more and most of them are really huge now.
