I had a car wreck which caused my tibia to have a compound fracture. 2 weeks After the surgery to insert hardware in my leg I was showing signs of infection and was in complete agony for days to find out it was MRSA. All I can say is that if you have a friend or family who has it as well and they are complaint, believe them and be there for them. My bone sticking out of my leg was nothing compared to the feeling of MRSA. Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy

This is my 5th time getting MRSA since this past July... The 3rd time I had a full blown outbreak. Blisters throughout my body. I counted over 17 lesions, blisters, and absysses in just between my legs. 3 of them over 6 inches long, 3-4 inches wide, 3-4 inches in diameter. I was admitted into the hospital because it almost took my life. I was sent home on a PIC Line, which also almost took my life causing blood clots. Just one abyss is extremely painful. My body was riddled all over. This one absyss I have now is in my inner thigh. My Dr had to drain it, then packed it with gauze. Which means it will have to be repacked every other day, tearing out flesh and tissue. The last one they had to drain and pack was small. This one is much deeper. Pain and agony on top of more pain and agony. I'm so over having this. This is for the birds. I am so strong in my faith, I am usually in such a strong mind set spiritually and physically, but I am now feeling defeated. I hope and pray I find answers to how to get rid of it for good🙏🏼

No cure but only remission I hear. I've had it for four years now without remission. The abcess infections are the worst. I had to have one cut out of my jock. I learned to get them out early myself by soaking in hot baths and enduring the pain of squeezing. Best remedies I have found are raw / unpasteurized buckwheat honey if you can find it. manuka honey seems less effective for more cost. Walmart sells a wildflower honey from Brazil that also works good. The body absorbs the honey overnight wash in morning. Not actually a sticky problem in the morning. Coating the area and keeping it on the skin is the trick. I found nylon hosery to be very useful for this. Vaseline I would say should be the primary over the counter topical you want to use. Works better than mupirocin ointment I would say by far for wound topical. Use heavily on the area under bandages or nylons as the area allows. I grew allergic to vinyl and only worsened the problem so use cloth bandages to be on the safe side. Nose maintenance to control the staph, you can use mupirocin ointment this seems to be its best use but a little odorous. Vaseline is again the best bet applied generously by Q tip or finger if needed about once a week seems to work fine. It will block out your smell sensory for the day but no funny odor. If you feel your nose is going raw it is the staph. Use Vaseline or mupirocin. Shower two to three times a day. Bath two to three times a week with half cup to a cup of bleach added. Dermatologist says 1/2 cup for ten minutes twice a week. Seems ineffective to me, I try to use a cup bleach for an hr soak every other day. Don't make the tub too hot soak and let it cool down. Hot water will inert the bleach. If bathing is not an option you can spray bleach water on with a spray bottle or do on top of bathing periodically. Probiotics should be used constantly I find, not just when on antibiotics. I use pill form and probiotic yogurt drink. Keeping clean clothes and bedding, use laundry disinfectant. Stay positive somehow. This is key, or we give up. I tried to kill myself three times last year. I had to give up on working to survive. It got too stressful. Try to stay away from stressful situations as our bodies are stressed enough. More sleep seems to also be needed for physical and mental healing. Half my day on average has to go to taking care of myself or the MRSA gets worse. When I got the MRSA my Dr said it was just infected hair follicles and my fault for not taking better care of myself as I was homeless living in a van and she refused to refer me for over a year letting it get worse and worse undiagnosed. I had to diagnose and treat myself. By the time I got into see a dermatologist forced by an ER dr, I was telling the dermatologist what I had! Other than an official diagnosis that dermatologist was useless and washed their hands of me offering little that was helpful. The second dermatologist was knowledgeable and said Vaseline will be my best friend. Other than that useless when I can only get scheduled once a year. This will help, Good luck.

I'd like to add there is MRSA inside the body (like mine that's attached to my hardware I got from spinal fusion surgery) and then there's the more physically contagious skin MRSA. It's probably the same kind - just showing up different places. That's something I was worried about when I got it bc I didn't want to infect others. 9 years later and I haven't infected anyone, Hopefully never will. Just wanted to put that out there in case anyone is going thru the kind I have and are curious about that. I didn't really trust the nurses telling me oh everyone has it and not doing proper handwashing and PPE dealing with me. Those type of Healthcare workers are probably how I got it in the first place while in the hospital.

Incision & Drainage must be the first line protocol treatment for all MRSA abscess infections. I&D removes the infection potential by physically removing necrotic cells along with most of the MRSA microorganism cells. Simply opening up the abscess & scraping & culling out all the pus and necrotic tissue makes anyone feel better! using antibiotics often fails or leads to the MRSA progressing & eventually it becomes a systemic (blood born) infection requiring immediate hospitalization and potential for contracting HA-MRSA (Hospital Acquired MRSA). I&D works far better as it is a far more aggressive & helpful first line healing protocol treatment.

So you’re saying that 30% of the population have staph in the sinus naturally? Does that mean it doesn’t need to be treated? I was told by my doctor that I have staph in my sinus, and I was given an antibiotic that contained antifreeze and completely destroyed my digestive system. However, it didn’t clear the staph in my sinus. And I wonder how it could of, when it wasn’t put into my sinus? Does it need to be treated or not?

@@Bullet-Tooth-Tony- yes, Mrsa sometimes doesn’t respond to certain antibiotics, in order for them to fully get rid of the infection they had to perform surgery on me, I’m not sure if it’s like that for everyone but me personally yes, they removed a piece of bone from my leg because that’s where the Mrsa was. But I was a kid when I had Mrsa so I’m not sure if treatment is different, it’s best to discuss with a doctor because it depends on the severity of it, when I had it we caught it really early luckily.
