A presentation by Dr Robert Haddad to the Guardians young adult group at the Maronite parish of St Charbel's Punchbowl, Sydney, Australia, one the question of whether God can have a mother.
Sorry about the sound. I had two microphones but I was speaking in an outdoor auditorium which echoes deeply.

How can God have a mother? He’s God and He can do anything He wants. Nothing is impossible for God.

@@Umm-UlfahGod is logic....that's one of the meanings of logos. He is logic itself,and truth. You'd do well to think on that! Is it logical to believe that he needed another prophet after the predicted fulfillment of all the old testament prophecy's predicting Jesus?

In the writings of Luisa Piccarreta, Jesus spoke of spending 9 months in the darkness and quiet of Mary’s womb. He humbled Himself to save us.

I agree. Unfortunately, they had the talk in the undercover foyer next to the church, hence the bad echo. I had the hand mike and a lapel mike. It is important to hopefully do it again. God bless.

The Angel Gabriel said Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 n Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. 32 o He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,* and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, 33 and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” You will conceive in your womb and bear a son and you will call Him Jesus. The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. The child born to Mary will be called the Son of God. It’s not difficult. Mary was blessed and highly favored. She was full of grace before the crucifixion. The Lord was with her. Daughter of the Father. Mother of the Son. Spouse of the Holy Spirit. Ever Virgin, before, during and after the birth of Jesus. Mary said the Lord has done great things for me and Holy is His Name. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners. Spread the effects of the Flame of Love (Jesus) throughout humanity, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

If you believe in the Holy Trinity, three persons in one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and Jesus is God the Son, and Mary gave birth to Jesus, then Mary is the Mother of God the Son. In the Nicene Creed, we say we believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. The ever Virgin Mary gave birth to the Word of God made flesh. She is the Mother of Our Lord and He was obedient to her. ❤️‍🔥

God the son was with God the Father before the creation of the universe. It was through God the Son that the universe was made. How then can you say that Mary is the mother of God The Son? You are saying that Mary was not a creation? or that God the Son was a creation? Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ the full and complete MAN, not God the Son. we can say that Mary is the mother of God but this can only be done in a symbolic way and not in the literal understanding.

@@Ex_Nihilo777 Because the Word of God was made flesh through His mother, Mary. And the Bible says so: And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? Luke 1: 43 and John’s prologue.

Luke 1:43 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43 But why am I so favored, that the MOTHER OF MY LORD should come to me? Does Mar Mari want to question Elizabeth proclaiming Mother of her Lord? I think he skipped Sunday school on this verse

This is a very sensitive topic for me when I have conversations with Protestants etc.. They can’t accept it or comprehend the meaning and the mysteries of God Almighty! In order for Salvation to happen God has to become man…so the sacrifice is complete (the blood of the new convenant).. Therefore, Mary was saved from original sin, so she can become the Mother of God in the flesh (The Ark of the New Covenant)… Thanks Robert always❤please correct me if I’m wrong! God Bless❤️🌎✝️

The phrase mother of God traces back to the third century and continues to be used in some liturgical churches, including the Roman Catholic Church. One of the topics at the Council of Ephesus in AD 431 was the use of the Greek term Theotókos (literally, “God-bearer” or “the one who gives birth to God”) in reference to Mary. That council’s use of Theotokos was meant to counter the heresy of Nestorianism, which cleaved the nature and person of Christ in two: Christ’s human and divine natures were completely divergent and unconnected. According to Nestorius, Mary gave birth to Christ but not to God; Mary was the mother of His humanity, which was totally distinct from His divinity-Jesus was two persons sharing one body, essentially. The Council of Ephesus affirmed the full deity of Christ and unity of His person by saying that Mary did indeed bear God in her womb. Mary is the “mother of God” in the sense that, since Jesus is God and Mary is the mother of Jesus, she is the mother of God. The Word became flesh (John 1:14), and Mary mothered Him. We should distinguish the term Theotokos from mother of God, because there is a subtle yet important difference. The term mother of God could be taken wrongly as implying that Mary was the source or originator of God, similar to how Juno was the mother of Vulcan in Roman mythology. Of course, Christianity teaches that God is eternal and that Jesus Christ has a pre-existent, divine nature. The idea that Mary is the mother of God in the sense that she was the source of God or somehow predated God or is herself part of the Godhead is patently unbiblical.

Mary is the mother of God, Jesus our Lord, the 2nd person in the trinity. She was his mother all through his life, and is still his mother. Nothing has changed, she did incarnate his human body and soul, but she is not the source of his divinity. Doesn’t take away from her being His mother.

@@TheRockIsCooking Mary the mother of Jesus was a godly and blessed woman, but she was not without sin. Jesus was the only human without sin. Jesus “had no sin” (2 Corinthians 5:21). “In him is no sin” (1 John 3:5). Nothing of the sort is ever said of Mary or anyone else. Jesus Christ is fully human, but He is also fully God (John 1:1). He is the Lamb of God, “without blemish or defect” (1 Peter 1:19), a title and description no other person can claim. Rather than teach that Mary was sinless, the Bible gives evidence that she was a normal person with a normal person’s need of salvation. In Mary’s praise-filled, humble prayer in Luke 1, she says, “My spirit rejoices in God my Savior” (verse 47). If she were sinless, she would not have needed a “Savior.” Mary receives a gentle rebuke from Jesus in John 2:4, which hardly seems fitting if she were sinless.

@@santhoshvarghese9330 I see what you’re saying brother. I encourage you to watch Joe Heschmeyers series about Mary, his KZfaq is Shameless Popery and he has two very good videos of Mary. Also you can have a savior and still not commit sin. For example, if your house catches on fire and the firefighters come and save you and there’s not a single scratch on you, they still saved you, but you never got hurt. So in this regard, Mary can not sin, and still be saved. Also in John 4:2 “woman” is being used, but not in a demeaning way. Back in those days it was used as a respectable way to address someone. Again I really encourage you to take some time and look at some videos of Mary from Shamless Poppery, and Steve Ray. They both have excellent content on Mary and they will be able to further clarify the claims about our blessed mother.

Mary is not the mother of divinity but the Mother of the Divine. Nestorians and Muslims hold her to be Christokos. She is Theotokos to Orthodox Christians who uphold her as Mother of God.

Yeah, a defrocked Priest. Coptic Orthodox Church has been questioning his position as well, obviously not a member of any known Orthodox Church. For all i know Protestants have been using him as a tool to destroy Catholic Church, Pope Francis is of the devil etc despite the fact the Vatican never approved same sex marriage. "Mary is not the mother of God" an outright heresy for Coptic Orthodox Church, although the official statement from The Copts says he has a great devotion to the Mother of God, at least when he was a student over there. We can thank rad trads for a part of this confusion and rebellion. Well, give em sometimes, say no less than 5 years or so to brainwashed the masses before the judgment day "..fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful." [Akita, Japan 1973, Approved apparition].
