Our journey started from Mandal which is located at a distance of 30 Kms from Chopta and 14 Kms from Gopeshwar. We also faced some difficulties during this journey, despite all this the track was quite exciting.The trek is accessible from the Mandal Village. It takes you on a very gorgeous trail that passes through the lush green meadows and the holy lands of the Garhwal Himalayas. While trekking your way towards Rudranath from Mandal Village you trek from the Anasuya Devi Temple(5Km) while passing from the gorgeous sight of the Atrimuni Ashram, towards the Hansa Bugyal which was the last stop of our first day.
अनसूया प्रजापति कर्दम और देवहूति की 9 कन्याओं में से एक तथा अत्रि मुनि की पत्नी थीं। उनकी पति-भक्ति अर्थात सतीत्व का तेज इतना अधिक था के उसके कारण आकाशमार्ग से जाते देवों को उसके प्रताप का अनुभव होता था। इसी कारण उन्हें 'सती अनसूया' भी कहा जाता है।
She was the wife of Atri Muni, a great sage and one of the Sapta Rishis (Sapta means seven and rishis mean sages in Sanskrit). It is said that Devi Anusuya fully dedicated to her husband.
STORY
एक बार की बात है माँ अनुसूया त्रिदेव ब्रह्मा, विष्णु, महेश जैसे पुत्र की प्राप्ति के लिए कड़े तप में लीन हो गईं, जिससे तीनों देवों की अर्धांगिनियां सरस्वती, लक्ष्मी और पार्वती को जलन होने लगी।
तीनों ने अपनी पतियों से कहा कि वे भू लोक जाएं और वहां जाकर देवी अनुसुया की परीक्षा लें। ब्रह्मा, विष्णु और महेश संन्यासियों के वेश में अपनी जीवनसंगिनियों के कहने पर देवी अनुसुया की तप की परीक्षा लेने के लिए पृथ्वी लोक चले गए। अनुसुया के पास जाकर संन्यासी के वेश में गए त्रिदेव ने उन्हें भिक्षा देने को कहा, लेकिन उनकी एक शर्त भी थी। अनुसुया के पतित्व की परीक्षा लेने के लिए त्रिदेव ने उनसे कहा कि वह भिक्षा मांगने आए हैं लेकिन उन्हें भिक्षा उनके सामान्य रूप में नहीं बल्कि अनुसुया की नग्न अवस्था में चाहिए। अर्थात देवी अनुसुया उन्हें तभी भिक्षा दे पाएंगी, जब वह त्रिदेव के समक्ष नग्न अवस्था में उपस्थित हों।त्रिदेव की ये बात सुनकर अनुसुया पहले तो हड़बड़ा गईं लेकिन फिर थोड़ा संभलकर उन्होंने मंत्र का जाप कर अभिमंत्रित जल उन तीनों संन्यासियों पर डाला।पानी की छींटे पड़ते ही ब्रह्मा, विष्णु, महेश तीनों ही शिशु रूप में बदल गए।
It is believed that once #goddess #saraswati, #laxmi and #parvati sent their husbands #brahma, #vishnu and #mahesh to take Devi Anusuya's strength test. When they arrived at ashram #devi #anusuya offered food to them. But they did not take the food and put a condition in front of her. That they will accept the food only at one condition when she will serve food without wearing clothes.
After hearing this Devi Anusuya became tensed, that how could she do that. Atlast, Devi closed her eyes and thinks about her husband. Suddenly, she got an intuition that these sages are #god and they are testing her strength. After that she put a condition that she is agree to do that but for that they have to take the form of her sons. The #gods agreed to it, and then she served food to them.
Later on three gods started living there as Devi Anusuya's sons. When the gods did not reach back to parlok, then goddess Parvati, Lakshmiji and Saraswati apologized to Devi Anusuya and requested her to back their husbands. After that she agreed to it and since then this place is known as #maa Sati's name.
In the month of December, on the occasion of Duttatreya Jayanti, large fair is organized every year, which is attended by many #devotees and #tourists. Throughout the night they worship the Goddess Sati through #bhajan with lighted lamps in their hands.
