I’ve always been baffled by the lack of rain tyres in NASCAR. But I come from F1 where in modern times, a light sprinkle of rain and they red flag it.

Trying to run in the rain, even with rain tires, on a banked oval is bad news. So much of your grip is due to the friction you get on the banking; cut the grip down and you've got some safety issues... While I don't necessarily think it would be bad racing, there's a reason we only use rain tires on road courses and flat tracks like New Hampshire.
