I phoned a national league club for a trial. I hadnt played since i was 13 and that was ONLY half a season. So realy no competition play at all. Time of trial 25 I tired of watvching no one being able to tackle the dribbler, so i went back and stole the ball from him without even touching him... EASILY....he chassed me and kicked my legs out. Again i tackled him and again he kicked my legs out. Coach told him to stop it. I was given the ball ONLY TWICE. I put a first time INCH PERFECT cross into the box to see it connect the head of my striker ,who was EXTREAMLY well marked, wedged between two defenders. He headed it into the back of the net to score THE ONLY GOAL of the game. So i tackled a guy no one else could EASILY TWICE !! and from one of the two times i was passed the ball put in a pass not many could to take my side to victory. And i was NERVOUS What if i didnt go back and tackle twice. So without ME !!!!! my side may have lost. And ME with NO EXPERIENCE!!! made the difference between winning and loosing. I would have played the first year FREE Idiot coach says " play state league " Surely after what i did he should have said " pretty good son. You say you havent played since you were 13. Come back......" Ive seen lots of guys with more talent paying to play this SIMPLE GAME than those getting payed millions. I was in goals one time. My defense must have went on hollidays. I pass in the box , we score 4/2. ....I score , but keeper pulls ball back. I get fouled in the box, penalty... score 4/3 ....I score...4/4. Im playing centre half and striker, so im gambling going forward and WORKING REALY FKN HARD !!! to get us to 4/4 I got caught out ONCE !! and the rsole keeper let a simple save go in to see it finnish 4/5 NOT ONE PERSON NOR COACH said " wow joe , fk you did a great job out there " NOTHING WAS SAID TO ME. From a possible 7/0 to 4/5 and nothing. I even juggled the ball from goal to goal ( indoor) without it touching the ground untill it hit the back of the net to score. Only one to high five me was a guy on the other team. So Yeah, a lot of coaches dont no sht no matter who they work for. And a lot of real natural talent gets ignored. Im 62 now and dont even watch football anymore. Im pissed off with it.
