This video covers some FAQs I get asked about clinical year at St. George's University. Both SGU and Ross are AVMA accredited universities in the Caribbean. You do your pre-clinical years on island and your clinical year back in the US or abroad in the UK, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.
As always, leave future video suggestions below or message me with any other questions!

I just want to say thank you so much for posting your SGU adventure. I have been watching your videos for the past 2 years. I am so excited to now be starting my first term at SGU in January and leaving for Grenada in 2 weeks. Ahh I feel so much more prepared due to watching your videos. Also the clinic I work with in New York is an affiliate with LMU. We get so many students who do their rotations with us. I love when we get students from LMU who went to SGU, they’re always so awesome. Good luck with your clinic year 🙂

I’m in the FTV program this semester (January 2022) at SGU and I watched so many of your videos in preparation for my move. I actually went to LMU for a year of undergrad and toured the vet school and absolutely fell in love with it. It will definitely be on my list for clinical year. Congrats on getting your first choice!

Thanks for this informative video Britt. Congrats on completing Term 6. All the best with your clinical rotations at Lincoln Memorial University. I heard it is an amazing university. I would like to see more videos about your Christmas vacation, your time at clinicals. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Thanks so much Brittney! Can you please make a video about your move out process? I want to see/learn about the expenses of moving too and from the island! Thanks again! Wish you all the best & Happy New Year!

The move out process is probably easier. Most people sell almost everything down there to locals or under term students. It also helps you leave with a little money going into clinical year. Usually you would know when to end your lease, so of course making sure you have no damages and that's usually it.

Thank you so much for making this video! I hope you had a great Christmas and congratulations for getting into your top pick for clinicals. I just got accepted to SGU for the August 2022 term and so far it is the one I am going to. I also got into Sydney but I turned it down because I liked SGU better. When you go to Lincoln Memorial, are you taking your car with you? Does the campus provide transportation to your clinics that you will be rotating at? How would housing work, do you have to move every 4 weeks to be closer to the clinic? I would love to watch videos of interesting cases you go to or anything to do with your rotations. I'm so excited for you and can't wait to see more upcoming videos of a new campus! :)

I'm definitely will do a video more about LMU once I start going and get into the flow. There are 2 mandatory rotations with no flexibility in location. But they're only 2 weeks. All the rest, you can move around each 4 weeks or you can find a hub city so that you don't have to move around much. Some of the hubs are Lexington, Louisville, Tampa, New York, Chattanooga, and some places in Texas. You can definitely take your car and housing is up to you (as it will be at any clinical school). If you do multiple rotations in a hub city, you can potentially do a short lease somewhere. But like for me, I'll essentially have to get housing and drive each time lol

Greetings! I found your channel because I was researching Grenada. I stayed for the Vet school😊… my daughter is planning on going to vet school. Thank you for all your videos. I have enjoyed watching your journey. I wish you the best in your clinical year and I look forward to seeing what’s in store. Are you still visiting Rucha Da (spelling)? Lol… I live in the metro so I knew exactly what you were talking about. I still need to eat there. Happy New Year!!

When do clinical rotations begin in Spring (Winter?)/Summer/Fall? How long do you have to move from the Caribbean to the school in which you will be doing your clinical?
@BrittneyKilgore
@BrittneyKilgore 2 жыл бұрын
It depends. So at sgu, we have august and january classes. In your august class, you finish term 6 in may and begin clinicals anywhere from late may to early june. The shortest turn around is about 5-7 days while some people will have 2-3 weeks. For the January class, we end term 6 in December and clinics start from the first week to 3rd week of January. So for the January class, in theory you get a longer time to move. It's sometimes really time pressed for the May-June people, but they've always made it work! (For Ross, I believe its similar. You end early August and start clinics late August/early September if you're in that Summer start class)

Thanks for all the info; you've taken off a lot of stress. In your clinical year, is it one entire year, or is it longer? What are the differences between the 3 clinical terms? Is there a summer break that year, or is it all year round? Do you have to return to Grenada after clinicals at all, or once you start clinicals are you in the states for good? Thanks again.
@BrittneyKilgore
@BrittneyKilgore 2 жыл бұрын
-Every school differs. Some schools have a solid 12 months of clinics, some do about 18 months and some have unique experiences (like year 2 and year 4 clinics). It just varies. At SGU the 3 clinical terms just follow an Americanized semester. There's spring, summer, and fall. That's also typically how loans disperse but each rotation may be 2-4 weeks. -There's no summer break in your clinics. Once you start, you keep going till you graduate -Nope, for SGU once we leave the island thats it. Even graduation is in New York.

After you finish your 6th term in May, do you get a summer break before the fall 4th year/clinicals start?
@BrittneyKilgore
@BrittneyKilgore Жыл бұрын
No, clinics start right away as they would in the US schools. Depending on the start day at each clinical school, some students have as short as 10 days while others have 3-4 weeks before starting

I always hear from vets that island schools are more difficult and they kick you out if you fail one class or get a D. I can't imagine that is all true, right? That's honestly what has deterred me from applying there next cycle. Also, do you think they accomodate students well that need special academic accomodations? Not sure if you know but I don't have a meeting with them for a couple months so I wanted to get your opinion.
@BrittneyKilgore
@BrittneyKilgore 2 жыл бұрын
Hey. Yeah island schools definitely hold a stigma especially in a lot of the older vet's generation. They used to have no accreditation and just weren't the same as US schools. But that's not true on the grade thing. If anything, I feel they are more forgiving. You would have to consistently keep failing multiple classes after 2 + terms to be dismissed. And I feel the professors really care and try to get us to understand the material. Also, they do make accommodations in test taking (like extra time for exams) but outside of that, I'm not sure. What other accommodations would you be referencing?
