The Vectrex is one of the best! Playing games with the overlay and the lights off makes the experience. The overlays will make the background have a color and it really adds to the ambience. They are still producing games for this system too. It’s wild to see that much love for a system over 40 years old. Definitely one of my favorites of all time!

Ever consider putting the plush toys in a claw machine? You could put the hight sign on the side of the claw machine. Then move the arcade game somewhere else. Then put the claw machine next to Ronald. Nintendo sign can go on top of the claw machine. Mc kids sign could hang over Ronald. You'd have more floor space where the plush toys are too.

Those fluorescent bulbs aren’t hard to find at all. Go to a shipyard, take a look at the light fixtures they all have one. They’re updated LED bulbs now too last longer.

Shout out to the in built game Mine Storm on the Vectrex. Played that to death on our Vectrex in the 80's over here in the UK 👍

Another common issue with fluorescent lights is the ballast going out. Had to replace one on an old Crown Royal advertising clock I restored years ago. The issue now is ballasts are also becoming difficult to come across, many people are converting fixtures to LED so there is less need for them. I would be hesitant to convert an expensive item like that to LED.

I would put that thing where Michael had it hanging behind the bench. that is a cool background for anyone taking pictures sitting next to Ronald. but, then you'd have to put up something on the outside of the glass as it wouldnt look too attractive seeing a blank white sign. so cool though!

Those bleep bloop noises remind me of my dad. He was an electronics engineer and loved all the video game stuff that came out in the 80's. He always had stiff like that around the house.

There are plastic LED bulb replacements, you will most likely have to "retro" fit it as we call it at work. Cut out the ballast, power lines to incoming power and neutral to incoming neutral. Boom new LED fluorescents

Those bulbs in the UK are used for Vivarium tanks etc not sure what is used over in the US but could be a shout to look at

I just got one of those Vectrexes. Get the PiTrex cartridge and a Pi zero for it and you can emulate arcade classic from Atari, Sega, etc, like Asteroids, Battlezone, Tempest, etc.

I would consider putting the Mc Donalds hamburgular sign partially behind the Mc Donalds bench on the floor. You don't really need to see the hamburgular's whole body.

you have no idea how much my soul just got crushed, i used to have that exact same nintendo lamp, still worked and everything but times were tough and i ended up selling it for like $750 ten years ago... i really didnt want to sell it because i knew it was incredibly rare due to the fact i couldnt find any info about it online. hopefully the guy i sold it to still has it and has taken care of it
