How curly cuts ultimately set me back on my length retention and healthy hair. Are curly cuts and no oils and butters damaging to natural hair? Well it's definitely not all false! Here's my story from 2021 when I FIRST got a curly cut AKA a deva cut and started wearing wash n go's. Let's talk about it!

So sorry your hair got so damaged! I’m thrilled to see your hair is back to being healthy ♥️🙌🏽 I personally think it’s a combination of many things not just the hooded dryer. 😅 I feel the curly cuts do not address all the split ends which snowball throughout the full head of hair. It’s not just contained to the ends. There’s zero damage from the actual act of cutting but it’s what’s missed that I think attributes to some of the damage. Also, because the damage isn’t contained to just the ends of the hair, it seems to take a series of corrective cuts to fix it all. 😢 Next, I believe the lack of products containing oils and butters within the 1st 5 ingredients amplifies the damage being inflicted. That and the frequency of washing with a lathering & shampoo just further strips the hair. Top it all with a hooded dryer/difusser and it becomes a real mess! I also, agree with you about the store brand products offer more protection too. That was my experience always with using Pantene for 15+ years. My hair was waist length and ridiculously healthy! When you step back and look at it, It’s like the perfect storm! And it takes several corrective cuts to bring your hair back to a healthy state. I’ll be getting my 3rd corrective cut this month and my stylist says I’ll probably need another 2 or so inches cut off again. Supposedly this last cut will set me free! 😅 In summary I think KZfaq University had it right the first time. It just needed a few small tweaks. And I think once I share how I believe I’ve connected all the dots it’ll definitely help everyone understand how everything played off each other. 🫣 Awesome video and your hair looks absolutely beautiful! 😍💯

Yes I agree it was the hooded dryer + the combination of the other hair practices. But ultimately most people weren’t using hooded dryers as part of their regular routine until experimenting with all the set of practices! If the hooded dryer was out of the equation, I do believe one’s hair could still thrive if that one thing wasn’t part of the regime! Because ultimately it’s the one causing the excess drying, leading to damage. not the new product changes! Thank you for you comment and I look forward to hearing your story 🙂

Absolutely love love this video! You definitely hit it on the nail with the using the hooded DRYER every week! I did the same exact hair routine you did and my ends dot the same way. I been looking for someone to actually tell me what happened and how to FIX it and what NOT to do!😊😊 Thanks you so much!

Silicones help protect the hair from heat damage. I still use silicone products I'm just strategic when I use those products. And make sure to clarify to get the silicone out of my hair

Thank you so much for sharing your hair journey. My daughter, who is 14, has never had a relaxer and only had her hair flat ironed about 10 times in her life. She primarily wears her hair in two strand twists, then a twist out. She had been going to a natural stylist for about 4 months. We had to switch stylist and noticed her ends were becoming extremely thin. We were told she had some heat damage. I'm confused. She hardly even blow drys here hair. I have done everything I know to do to help her maintain her healthy hair. Honestly, I'm a bit confused. Do I just use gel and foam for a twist out, do I use a cream and oil? So needless to say, I really appreciate your videos. I will continue to research. God Bless!

It’s called pre poo. When we add oil to our hair. According a chemist on KZfaq who discusses natural hair, our hair actually likes oil more than water. It can prevent moisture overload. I’ve had similar issue with my hair when flat ironing it. It just look frizzy and my curls are no longer defined long periods of time. I’m learning it’s because my hair is too high porous. Which means my hair cuticle is lifted too much (aka damaged) so moisture leave out just as quick as it enter. It’s said that hot oil treatments using oils can eventually help recover from this. This is a journey learning natural hair 😫 trying to figure out if the hair need moisture, oil, protein. How to balance all those and how often to use all those.

You should try using coconut oil, it is the oil that has been found most effective of penetrating the hair strand which is why it is strengthening. If you have damaged or porous hair, this would help combat that.

@@bbappzz98 have you ever experienced damage hair or do you have porous hair? I be wanting to hear more testimonies but I rarely see people with damage porous hair…with before and afters. But I’m going to do more protein treatments and oiling it more with penetrating oils such as coconut oil.

@@IAmHisBeloved5 I currently have heat damage that I'm transitioning out but I don't focus on porosity. my hair was only really porous when I had bleach damage which I've cut off. I mainly focus on shampoo, condition, leave in and styler every week. when my hair is healthy I do wash and gos, now that I'm transitioning I do braid outs. my deep conditioner has coconut oil in it which my hair likes now because it is slightly strengthening. I use a protein conditioner semi-regularly when I need it. but I don't want to focus too much on it because I don't want my new growth to have protein overload. I would recommend ALove4Me, she has talked about using oils to prevent hydral fatigue.

Just would love to know which hair products you use because I’m having issues with length and I do not use a hood dryer. I have one and a steam cap. I get my ends clipped or trimmed and I’m still at the same length. Sincerely frustrated

This video was very confusing. As soon as I thought I was getting info I could use - I didn’t. I don’t feel like I ever got the final routine or the product. It felt like it was all over the place with no final answer. Your hair looks very nice though by the way🙂
