How De We Diagnose a Chiari Malformation by Dr. David Saperstein.
Chiari malformation (CM) is a condition where brain tissue extends into the spinal canal. It causes structural defects in the base of the skull and cerebellum. When a part of the cerebellum extends below the foramen magnum and into the upper spinal canal, it is referred to as Chiari Malformation.
Symptoms include headache, balance problems, and trouble with vision and swallowing. In most patients, symptoms can be managed with medications, but sometimes surgery is needed.
Dr. Saperstein has spent over 20 years diagnosing and caring for Chiari Malformation. At the Center for Complex Neurology, Dr. Saperstein and his team will make an assessment of your Chiari Malformation and guide you through the most appropriate and effective treatment for your condition.
