I grew up constantly in a dental lab my grandpa owned and my dad worked at. This brought back so many memories watching them work, and the one thing I remember was them saying you don't want perfectly straight and perfectly white teeth, because those look too fake. Thanks for making this!

Yeah man. I lost mines from a bad car accident. I used to go to the dentist every 3 to 6 months. All that money spent for nothing cause I lost them when I hit the pavement face first. I still remember waking up next to my teeth. Well pieces of it. I had the perfect Colgate smile and now it's all gone.

My dad was a Dental Tech. Legondary in the Los Angeles and Orange County area. He was know to make a full upper or lower faster than anyone in the world; while still getting a quality fit with little need for adjustments. He died in 1995, but I've mentioned I was his son to some dentists and techs over the last dozen years and they all know who he was like he was a celebrity. Hahaha! Dental appliance celeb! Good vid! Brings back memories. I can still make a decent appliance myself without any formal training. In the blood... I'm like Michael Jordan's son of Dental Tech skills. Lololol

I just did a test fit and bite check with the wax gums and actual teeth. Now I'm waiting for the dental office to call so I can go in for the real denture test fit. I'm so excited!! I've been without teeth for 10 years and I'm only 50 years old. A strange reaction with medication made my enamel weak and all my teeth started chipping away. I finally had them all pulled. The tops went first and it was under a local, so it hurt like hell. The bottoms were pulled 2 months later and I felt nothing under the local. Same place, same dentist. Go figure. Anyway, my journey to dentures is almost complete! Thanks to all the dental technicians and such that make this possible!

I truly enjoyed watching you make a set of dentures and I want to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule (I'm sure) in making this tutorial. I have an I portal question and hope you'll be able to answer me. I had a set of denture implants made on the bottom, and regular dentures make for the top because I ran out of money. The teeth are too small and do not have my natural arch and fullness to them makes me look different. So would they be able to fix those teeth and arch out without having to make a new set.

What an utterly fascinating video! I had no idea about all the steps that are involved with making dentures. I'm getting upper and lower partial dentures soon - I'm missing 2 molars on the top on each side and 1 on the bottom. Also a few teeth at the front on the bottom. I'm looking forward to being able to chew properly again. Now that I've watched this video, I'll appreciate my new dentures even more. 😀 🦷

Thank you very much for the insightful video. If you have the time, I do have a couple of questions, which may or may not have been answered in previous comment posts. 1.) This video shows a denture created using mouth models with no teeth whatsoever. What is the process when using models with teeth remaining? Once the bite registration is completed, are those remaining teeth sanded down to nothing/the gum line? 2.) While I have been told immediate dentures are not the best route to permanent dentures, is the repetitive aligning process for the immediate dentures really that much of a hassle for the patient? Again, great video, and thank you very much for your continued help and insight.

Really interesting video. I'm in the middle of getting a top partial done (to replace me back teeth) and after two impressions and two fittings it still doesn't fit on the pallet. Watching your video has me curious, it looks like you mold the pallet directly from the mold. If this the the case then how is it that sometimes the pallet on a denture/partial doesn't fit?

Hi Barry, I just came across your video on how dentures are made. My question relates to how does the lab determine what tooth shape, size or length of each tooth, and how many teeth are actually used in a denture plate (12 or 14)? I ask because I fully expected to receive denture plates that looked similar in shape, size/length, and number as I had prior to all my teeth being removed. The initial lab gave me ginormous front teeth with comparable large top plate that actually changed the look of my upper lip. Then after significant healing and more than 6 impression appointments, spanning over a year, for the creation of my permanent upper and lower dentures, the second laboratory did the extreme opposite. Now my teeth are too short, showing nothing but pink gums when I smile (not happy). Something that never showed even when I had my own healthy teeth. When I questioned the dentist about the extreme change I was told that showing what would look to others as alot of pink gums, represents healthy teeth without receding gum lines or periodontal disease. I wish that important detail was explained to me better. People say "ask more questions". Well, I don't make dentures in my day job, so how would I know the exact questions to ask in the hopes of avoiding problems with my dentures. Most General Dentists can and do provide this service in their practice. It's the dentists' responsibility to educate their patients on the entire process of getting dentures. That may consist of verbal instructions, an informational handout, or preferably both. Dentures are not cheap, especially when you consider that getting dentures is usually the last resort. Thank you, I look forward to your response.

Barry, Thank you for your quick reply and thoughts on this mater. You make some good points to consider. I'll need to weigh the pro's and con's of my treatment options and go from there. Modern dentures sound like they work quite well if they are fitted properly by a qualified practitioner, so that's one less concern? I think...
@parisiendentureclinic9617
@parisiendentureclinic9617 9 жыл бұрын
Like I had mentioned, dentures can be made successfully for most people. That being said... dentures are a prosthetic replacement. They are no different than someone who's lost a arm or a leg. Can you still function with a prosthetic arm or leg? Yes. However, you wouldn't imagine that a prosthetic arm will afford you all of the same abilities or range of motion as your real arm, would you? The same goes for dentures. You nailed it when you mentioned "qualified practitioner". Over the years I have seen many good and many bad dentures. Dentures are like everything in life... you typically get what you pay for. I often have people calling looking for the "cheapest dentures". The terms "cheap" and "healthcare" are typically terms you don't want to mix together. I'll often tell people "There are two things in life you don't want to get a deal on: Healthcare and parachutes." For a lot of people, however, it's tempting to go with a low cost option. Keep this in mind though: The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten. Best of luck to you.

I've had two upper plates that looked really natural. When people found out I was wearing a denture, they couldn't believe it. This last one does not. I really enjoyed this video. It sure answered a lot of my questions. I'm getting new full upper and lower plates made this month. I am hoping they will fit well and look more natural. I've had uppers for over 40 some years. If the person making them are as good as you, I know I will be a lot happier. I have a question. Is it normal to end up biting the inside of the mouth for awhile, after getting new dentures. I've, actually, had such pain from this, I have cried. Thank you.
