Always plan before you build. Trust me, when I never planned, I accidentally made a massive port on a lake with no access to the ocean. Which is why you plan to make no mistakes or time-wasting. I recommend you to do task-list to motivate you. And use wool blocks to count every meters and size.

You should so a city tutorial series. Obviously don't build everything block for block, just the best buildings like the school. Huge building like the aquarium or the offices you probably shouldn't do as they are hard for both you and us
