No, i will not. You are wrong about this "take". Steve was always worthy. Thor knew it. As he said in endgame when he lifted it. Call back to age of ultron And the directors stated as such. You know, the people who worked on the age of ultron movie? So you're just defying facts at this point.

@@gawainethefirst That would make the whole scene in Ultron and specially the one in End Game completely worthless. Because one comes from character progression, yours is pointless. Mjolnir isn't about being pure hearted. It wants a hero - Cap was mostly worthy, but the hammer wouldn't accept him until he corrected himself a bit. The hammer wants a pure hearted warrior "a man of focus and determination", likely one to protect others even at the cost of self sacrifice. Which Thor showed, which Captain America showed when he wouldn't give up even after knowing he's likely die against Thanos.

My favorite take is Steve became worthy alllllll the way back before he took the serum when he jumped on that Grenade. He was, without knowing it wasn’t live, willing to sacrifice his life to protect everyone present. Not just Carter, but even the jerk that bullied him the whole time. That’s when he became worthy. His fear wasn’t that there would be no fight, it was being alone. Everyone in his vision was from his original time (1930’s-40’s). There were people lying there with gunshot wounds and everything. He considered himself a “Man out of time” with no real place to belong, so while everyone else is dead or dies around him, he is left alone and without “the right partner”.

Yes, that’s the exact reason. Why would Thor be worthy for fighting? War is terrible not good. In the first Thor movie he was punished for being a spoiled child and went to FIGHT the Frost Giants. I think it's more than Thor suspected but didn't have his suspicions confirmed until Endgame. He saw the hammer move a bit in AoU and obviously freaked out. When Cap then says he can't do it, Thor is flooded with relief. I think on some level, he was well aware of the fact that the the hammer wouldn't have moved at all if he Cap wasnt worthy because he knew that you re either worth or you're not. . However, he was likely so relieved at the time that he probably wasn't able or willing to look at it objectively and admit this to himself. It also didn't help that almost straight after, the issue of Ultron appeared and that took up pretty much all of their focus. Perhaps Thor even convinced himself (either at the time or later) that maybe he had only "thought" he saw Mjolnir move but since Cap could not actually lift it, he was ablw ro how he this to an extent. However in Endgame, seeing it first hand, Thor clearly remembered back to that night and got the confirmation of something he'd always suspected at the time.

While Rogers may always have been worthy to wield Mjolnir, he was not worthy to wield it at that moment for one specific reason. Rogers was not worthy to lift Mjolnir at the party because he was trying to do it for selfish reasons. It was for a harmless competition, but a competition nonetheless.

I believe the hammer senses the reason why someone wants to lift it. Steve was worthy in Age of Ultron, but picking up as a party trick was not a just reason. I know a lot of people are saying that he didn't want to embarrass Thor, so he faked not being worthy. However, he was arguing just as fiercely as Tony Stark about Vision not counting because he was a machine. In Endgame, Steve was able to wield Mjolnir because he was fighting to save people's lives across the galaxy. I think at that moment, for that reason, even Tony could have been judged as worthy.

I'm not sure about this. I mean, it would be a cool not to the comics but that's just it, this concept is something from the comics specifically. The first time anyone picks up Mjolnir, it's got to be for a worthy cause. Even with Thor himself, he struggled.for hundreds of years and got nowhere. . It was only after he had a truly worthy reason outside of his own vanity and in order to save someone he loved that he was able to pick it up. In that instance, he was so set on his cause that his vanity and such didn't even factor in and in fact, he wasn't even aware he'd finally managed to lift the hammer until AFTER he'd managed to save who he was trying to save. Only once they were safe did he realise he was still holding Mjolnir.

Rogers has always been worthy. He is just SO worthy that he didnt want to lift the hammer and make the entire room lool like a joke. Hes THAT thoughtful of others around him. He is just as worthy as thor if not MORE so considering he is just a mortal.

Cap was always worthy, that very worthiness is why Erskine chose him, his courage, integrity, and sense of duty were beyond reproach even before the experiment. He never wanted war, he just didn't think he had a right to sit out a fight other men were dying in.

When he went back in time and saw Peggy in the 70s and could have done something about what his heart always wanted but remained mission focus about restoring justice to Thanos’ heinous crime was an utterly selfless act that made him worthy

Captain American was not able to lift Mjonier, because he kept a secret that Bucky killed Tony’s Parents. In Civil War, when confronted by Tony, Steve had to admit that he knew, that Bucky was his friend. When Steve admitted his guilt, and became truthful, he became worthy again. Which lead him to hold Mjonier….

@@fireproofart5526wrong. Tony’s parents died in like 91’ I think. And cap didn’t get out of the ice until like 2012 I think. So he had no knowledge of tony or his parents deaths. Once he was back into everything he probably asked what happened to all his old friends and coworkers and that’s probably when nick fury or someone knowledgeable told him, something, but not the truth. He never had any idea Bucky was alive much less that he killed Howard stark. And at the time he barely knew tony, it’s not like you just meet someone and say “hey btw did you know your parents are dead?” That doesn’t happen. Cap had no guilt and kept no secret. By chance he found out Howard was killed at some point in time. But he never knew Bucky was alive therefore he never knew who killed Tony’s parents. So when he says “I didn’t know it was him” he was telling the truth.

The fact that Captain America was the only one that didn't want to lift mjolnir because he might embarrass Thor is the reason he's the only one that can lift it

Ive heard most people argue that theres no halfway point with being able to lift the hammer either you can or cannot, they say the solw fact he could even move it slightlly at all means he was fully able to lift it, but simply chose not to out of kindness to thor, which is evident by the reaction and face he made when watching cap move the hammer, and then or course his reaction in endgame when he fully utilized it thor quite literally says "I knew it" confirming he himself also was thinking the same thing, that he knew fully well that cap was able to lift the hammer
