Why would it? They never got engaged and apparently didn't do anything show worthy post pod up to the weddings. Amber and he probably didn't want to show at the group gathering because they may not have been close with the cast core group. It's likely we'll find out what happened to Matthew during the reunion episode.

I agree. He has spectrum tendencies. He reminds me of those on the spectrum, from various friends, co-workers, and family who are in it, including one of my male relatives who got that diagnosis as a child...but it seems like Matthew is late into the counseling/intervention since he mentioned getting counseling only six months ago. To my understanding, counseling for an ASD1 is for life in order to handle life transitions, learn coping mechanisms as new challenges come up, and, in the earlier parts of counseling (and when new relationships come up), to learn social and interpersonal communication skills and techniques. Notice how the guys remind him he left his book on the table and he retrieves it like a little kid who forgot his homework on the table. The maturity level is typically behind that of their peers. He's also not aware of social nuances so wouldn't think to thank the guys for reminding him. ASD1s also like to hang by themselves (particularly males), especially when they're unfamiliar with people. Overtime, he did get more comfortable with the guys so didn't about them as much and he got more comfortable interacting in the pod situations the longer he was there. Also, during the early parts of pod dating, he left the pod w/Sarah Ann possible b/c he was not interested in the topi. Male ASD1s are notorious for dissappearing in the middle of a conversation or social happening b/c, well, they're done and don't see the need to continue further. However, Sarah Ann may also have been too much stimulus for his brain: too much information too fast thrown at him...so that would be another reason to leave the situation, for his self-preservation. AD worked well because she has a calming presence, speaks slower, and has a therapeutic tone. I'm sure he felt that and it comforted him. As for the America underdog situation, he knows he's viewed as quirky; he's probably been told how quirky he is his whole life, which is why he suspects he'll be viewed as the underdog. He knows he's going to be judged for others. There is also talk about "ableism" that is experienced with neurotypes in the ASD1 community and there can be an "in your face" way about countering it...so that is why that likely came out of him. There can also be...filter issues. I was surprised he played AD like that, but I can also think of a lot of reasons why he acted the way he did (I'm sure show editing didn't help clarity, either). However, he probably was realistically crying from doing his break up with AD. It can be hard to tell when someone on the spectrum is sad or otherwise since they often don't understand or know how to explain more complex emotions, and oftentimes, too, don't show them on their face. It can be hard to tell what they're thinking. But that won't stop them from feeling what they're going to feel. I'd love to see his date videos with that other gal. I imagine it will come out in the reunion. I have to wonder if she's ASD1, also. Women tend to express it differently (but not always). I was thrown off by her response (that is mentioned in this video)...but again, that could be editing.

I strongly disagree with that assessment, just based on the conversations he was having with AD and how he was talking to Amber 2. He’s either a production plant or on a different kind of spectrum (the antisocial personality disorder spectrum). He was being manipulative and seemed like he was toying with her.
