The explosion had to have come from the inside of the pod. If something was trying to get IN, the metal would be bent inwards. He mentioned in the PDA that he pushed every single button on it to try and get it to do something. I find it much more likely that the fabricator exploded, and the hole it ripped through the hull and the damage to the flotation devices from the shrapnel sunk the pod. In an explosion with that much force, there is no way he survived. His remains would have been torn apart already, and I’m sure a combination of sinking 180 meters and the bonesharks in the area ensured there was nothing left of him to find. The fates of all of the lifepods can be ascertained by the messages they left and the PDAs found inside. It was done by design. Lifepod 3’s Seaglide exploded after they tried to modify it. 6’s passengers died in an explosion after a flare caught the fuel line. 13’s passenger burned up when the pod’s heat shielding failed during the crash. 2’s & 19’s passengers attempted to go to the Aurora and were caught by a Reaper Leviathan. 12’s died of a Kharra infection and a wound they couldn’t treat. 17’s was attacked by native wildlife and killed. Given the area, it was either sandsharks or a leviathan that came from the adjacent biome. 4’s passenger was killed by a reaper leviathan after he tried to make it to the Aurora with too few decoys. And finally, 7’s fabricator exploded.

The guy in pod 7 wasn't unnamed, his name was Richard Nixon and the last words he ever said was "It sounds like someone is breaking in" to which then a voice in his head says "It's just a storm dick"

Yes, from the alien signals captured by radio we can confirm that warpers eliminated crew members as they said on the last transmission something like: "17(ish) life signatures eliminated. One signature left"

The crew member did say that things he made with the fabricator would come out wrong or entirely different than what he was trying to craft. It could have made a faulty item or something equally volatile seeing as the hole suggests that the pod burst open from an explosion on the inside

The hull seems to have been broken from the inside out. Either the crew member bashed it open with what little tools they had (flares, fire extinguisher etc.) And pushed outwards when they had weakened the Hull enough until they could escape, or the bones harks chewed and tore it open after a while

Yeah, the hole points outwards, so either the bonesharks bent the metal or it exploded (this one most likely because of burns all around the hole)

I always thought that all lifepods, except ours, were found by the warpers because they all sent out radio signals, and thus their occupants were killed. I think it's very likely, especially since most lifepods look like they were broken out of, not broken into

all the surviving aurora crew were hunted down and killed by warpers (apart from the ones that died from other circumstances) we know this because of the terrifying radio message ‘nine new biological specimens identified. Mode: hunt/kill’ Pretty sure officer keen got out too and nearly escaped with CTO Yu

Man, Subnautica may be super relaxing sometimes or may be the most scariest horror ever... At first i was afraid of every single fish that's bigger than my arm, now I'm literally living in the Lost river and killed 1 reaper, 1 ghost juvenile and another ghost leviathan(idk if that was an adult or juvenile because his corpse decided to noclip into the roof of the cave with Gargantua's remains and i couldn't have scanned it), i would've killed a second reaper, but it takes a lot of time and i just decided to let him live. Also, we need Maida and other Degacy survivors as playable characters tbh, Maida would be the most fun one. (I won't spoil for you guys why she will be the most fun one, just play Subnautica and find their PDAs to find out😏.)

Interesting idea the major damage bends outward looking like something came out of it because a warper teleports inside the life pod to corner the survivor so they can’t escape then after killing them the warped tears a hole out of the life pod and it sinks

The only problem about the Warpers, they only attack infected creatures, which changes everything that we know about the Aurora’s survivors. Edit: Probably one of my most liked comments, and I may have started an argument… whoops.

While this death is rather bad, i can't even imagine the other lifepods that ejected too early from the Aurora and ended up in the void, just imagine coming out and seeing nobody except a tiny Aurora in the distance.

Homie tried to fix his fabricator and blew his hull.

Closely examining everything, it was likely that a bone shark burst the floaters and chewed on the thing, gave up and left. After which warpers attacked, and one managed to hit the fabricator which caused an explosion.

I recognize the voice, its the captain! He must've made it to a lifepod, possibly a personal one specialy reserved for him at the bridge of the Aurora.

The little holes make me think it was a reaper

The way the breach is, an explosive force from inside the pod pushed it out. My guess, it was purposefully blown when the hatch wouldn’t open and dude was gobbled up after he died, which was *very* shortly after he breached the pod due to the pressure.

Now this is a certified ocean gate moment

The one story that always gave me chills was the pod near the ship. The fact that it is upside down and torn open near reaper territory. Also the recording about the crew member trying to get to the ship with some creature decoys. That one just gets me every time I play this game. It also doesn’t help that I have more fear of the reapers than any other creature.

Fun fact, with how the torn metal is shapen you can tell that whatever attacked the pod left the pod from the inside as the metal which has been torn bends outwards away from the pod, if the pod was broken into through this hole the metal would bend inwards, possibility the bacterium mutates the dead bodies after well death

The metal is ripped outwards, this wouldn't be something getting in, since it would go inward (like the broken glass riddles), maybe something Got in through the entry hatch, like the exploding fish from the caves, and where (in the struggle was pushed to the side) blew open a hole. With no rebreather or o2 tank, he would have definitely drowned, possibly eaten
