@@ivancalkins3645 I never understand comments like this considering Bird went up against guys like Pippen, Rodman, Jordan, Dr. J, Nique, among others, and had winning records and dominant performances against all of them. He was a three-time (should have been four-time) back-to-back MVP in a league that was arguably more talent-rich than at any other time in history. If you discredit Bird, you discredit his contemporaries. That includes guys like MJ, Magic, Barkley, Kareem, Moses, Dr. J. The list goes on and on... Also, have you heard of guys called Nikola Jokic or Dirk Nowitzki (seeing as you're big on the race thing for some reason)? Being double/triple teamed on a more physical game could alter his game. Fundamentals still play a big part. To think that MJ averaged 30+ points, (37.1 and 35 even while achieving at least 200 steals/100 blocks same season) against the physicality of the hand check era cements his greatness. The dude wasn't even the tallest nor the strongest yet he dominated on both sides of the court. As Deion Sanders said, it would be blasphemous to compare MJ to any basketball player. If he wasn't on a Jordan level (I'll leave that up to real fans to weigh in on) then he didn't seem enormously far removed from it. People compare Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders and say Emmitt better numbers, but I'd rather watch Barry. Some misleading areas. MJ scored 63 in the Garden, Bird hit for 60. The difference is that MJ did it in double overtime where Bird did it in regulation. Bird also suffered from severe back pains. There were times where he couldn't stand under his own power pregame, then willed himself to dominate in games. Bird was so dominating that he played a game with his off hand just to do it. Never even attempted by any other player in history. Bird swept MJ in the playoffs multiple times and did so in a pain that most humans wouldn't even be able to tolerate.

@m Khan Sorry dude...But the teams Jordan beat for his rings were terrible. HIV Magic led Lakers. the rest of the teams never won championships. Trailblazers, Sonics, Suns, and Jazz twice. Karl Malone ppg. went down in the playoffs. They were good squads but could never be champions. While Bird, Magic and Zeke were battling it out for championships, Jordan was at home watching them on TV. The teams Magic and Bird joined were not Championship teams. They were playoff teams just like the bulls. Jordan never faced 40 points a night during his ring run from the opposing team. Bird, Magic, and Zeke faced it all the time and still won Championships. Jordan never beat championship teams at their peak. Lebron beat the Spurs and Warriors at there peaks. Bird said that the night Jordan scored 63 points against them that the Celtics played against god. Well god got sent home with a loss and then got swept not once but twice. When Jordan retired that same bulls team lost only two more games the following season. When Lebron left the cavs both times the cavs turned into a dumpster fire. Jordan had perhaps the best rebounder ever in the game(Rodman) and the best coach in the game.( Phil Jackson) Lebron has led his team and the opposing team twice in the championship round in all statistical categories. Points, rebounds, steals, assists and blocks. Jordan has never carried that kind of load. Jordan was great without question. But just as you argue that Bird's and Magic's teams were so much better than the bulls. Once the Celtics, Pistons and Lakers runs were over the Bulls played against far less talented TEAMS. Good teams but not great.
