We live in a world of insanity when everyone knows exactly what the problem is and nobody is willing to say what it is.

I always bring up the quote (it's one or two years old now), from a former Swedish prime minister. He was asked by a Danish journalist what Denmark should do, to make sure we avoid the problems Sweden is facing (though, in reality, that likely won't happen, since Denmark took a far harsher stance on immigration almost a decade earlier). The reply the journalist got was: *"Save yourselves, blow up the bridge."* He's referring to the Øresund bridge which connects Denmark to Sweden.

As a swede I can say yes, this is all true. Sweden lost the battle against our own astronomical, nearly unfathomable stupidity. It is sad.

I lived in Stockholm the Danish I worked with would often comment that Sweden gives anyone a passport, my unintentional interaction with Swedish gangs was in Spain they were a large Drug gang (I was informed they were also part of a hit team) they boasted they were from Iraq / Malmo with Swedish passports and they threatened to kill me, very nice, these types are spread thru out Europe thanks to Sweden.

A big problem I saw in the prison service was Sweden's willingness to provide asylum and citizenship. These criminals left Sweden, came to other European countries to commit crimes, got imprisoned and then deported back to Sweden. It meant that Sweden was left with the very worst of the worst from other European countries. There was just a slight delay as they had to finish serving their sentences first.

When you're so determined to ignore the most obvious answer you'll never find a solution.

It is heartwarming that we are so kind to ignore the issue because it might hurt peoples feelings. Until you realise people are dying because of this.

My family came from gangs in the Oakland area. I was 13 when I was jumped in and soon after asked to help with low level crime. Older guys that were jobless and uneducated convinced us that we needed to assert ourselves to gain anything of value and hated the working class. This culture is a black hole for fatherless young men. I didn't realize that successful black men exist until I was locked up in juvenile detention center. I'm a reformed gang member with a family, work on the business side of healthcare and loce the community I live in. I will never forget and will always be grateful to the handful of men that showed me a better way.

Also in Germany's crime has actually gotten worse in recent years. Long-established Lebanese clans are fighting more and more aggressively against new Syrian clans in the Rurh area. We are still a long way from the situation like in Sweden, but it would be a lie to say that everything is going great here in Germany. Here too, incomplete/failed integration, an easily abused social system and the refusal of most parties to even discuss these issues are a problem.

As a german, I want to disagree to your conclusion at 14:49 , that we don't have such problems in Germany. According to the police report 2023, lethal crimes like murder, manslaughter, mayhem and rape are historical high. Same with the statistics about crimes caused by foreigners towards German citizens. There is even a classification word for north africans who are committing multiple crimes and ressistant to rehabilitation. There are no hand granade throwings or weapon mayhems running through street like in sweden, that is true. But it is common, that crime family wars are played on the street nowadays. A good example is the fighting between the newcomer criminals from syria vs already established libanese crime families in the city of essen. In the US, states like Utah, Idaho, Montana and a few other nearby states used to have no gangs. The cities tended to be small with lots and lots of wilderness. Big families and family values were higher than in big cities. So people who had kids "running with a bad crowd" would send them to live with Auntie etc in these small places. Often these kids weren't "big fish" where they were but in a small town they were "uber tough". So they'd share what they knew and eventually the gang "affiliation" developed. Kids from big cities moved to these places for other reasons (parents new job, marriage, divorce etc) So, when I got a job working with teens in an "at risk gang/drug program i was quite shocked when I saw these "homie gangstas" who were pale, freckled kids when I expected to see "bros" As said in the introduction Sweden as well as neighboring countries have a 'reputation' for being one of the best places in the world to live. So people with problems head there hoping some of the "happy living" rubs off. But a transfer of ANY KIND usually goes both ways. The people coming are looking for happiness but they bring a lot of bad luggage with them😢

We have very similar problems in Canada. Criminals get tiny sentences and are not deterred at all. Try to defend yourself and you'll got to jail longer than actual criminals.

As a Swede I can tell you that the feeling here is that we are headed for civilwar or general ethnic conflict. Some of my friends who were born and raised in yugoslavia are seeing the exact same thing they fled. He makes it a point that even though Swedens gun violence is very high compared to EU standards it is low compared to the US. But also kept talking about bombings. I almost never hear about a bombing in the US. As of the beginning of October 2023 there had been 134 bombings in Sweden. I couldn’t find a statistic for the US.

Having grown up as an immigrant in the haven of peace that was Malmõ in the 1970´s (now one of the most crime-ridden cities in Sweden), this is unbelievable...I visited Sweden and Malmõ a few times after moving back to my native Portugal, last time some 4-5 years ago and surely, you could see a lot of signs that things were not the same (both positive and negative, mind you), but I´d never expect it to get anything near this level. Never thought living in Lisbon would be much, much safer than in the quaint, paroquial Malmõ of my childhood. I glad that at least there, there are some positive signs. I still consider Sweden my second home country, and I really hope they can get their act together and overcome this.

I'm a 20 y/o Swede and honestly I stopped watching the news or anything related to it at like 13. Even back then I could tell that everything was going to hell and I just get depressed every time I see some headline or even just a random article in the store. It's so frustrating to see my government being so lax and failing all the time. Honestly, those morons... What did they think bringing in so many people at once and then just dumping them in borderline ghettos would do? And then just getting a slap on the wrist if someone commits a crime? And I get called a racist for just mentioning immigration, foreigners or agreeing with anything SD (it's a party) says. Just because I happen to agree with one out of a hundred does not make me a racist or one of them. That's like calling me a nazi for liking the idea of putting my country and my people first. I mean, I gave up on my country a long time ago and even moved to an isolated island to avoid people and whilst I realise that people like me contribute to the problem by just trying to sleep through it all, I just cannot see a solution. It's difficult to stop once its already started spiraling down. Btw, when I say "my" people I am not referring to skin colour but fucking swedish citizens no matter what they look like and the fact that I even have to write this is insulting. We had a police chief last couple of years (Mats Löfving) that went out in the media and explained that they have calculated that there is around 40 family based (ethnic) criminal networks that have come to Sweden soley for the purpose of committing crime. Thats the same thing that happened in Chicago they locked up the gang leaders and left the young gang members to go wild and kill each other and they had people in the same gang but claiming different blocks killing each other. As a Swede it took me five seconds to see the doomed future of Sweden. I knew in September 2013 when the government announced that all Syrians would get permanent residence as long as they came here. In five seconds I could see the murders, muggings, r*pes and corruption that the government took a decade to understand, yet here I am, not a billionaire thanks to my massive brain, just the victim of all those with smaller ones who kept repeating "We didn't see it coming.", "We have been naive.", "We didn't see it coming.", "We have been naive.".

The problem is in Norway too, not like in Sweden, but it's getting worse and worse. With lax laws, less and less police and funding over a long period. The police pick up kids and drive them to their parents, and if you are under 18 you will seldom, or never, get any punishment except sometimes community service when 16 and older. The police has warned the government about this since the '90s without results

I'm all for rehabilitation over punishment but Sweden seems to take it a little bit too far. If you are going to release a murderer after just a few years in a social institution, you need to make sure that these institutions work really really well.

I met a Swedish woman in 2012 and had a romance... She lived in the district of Husby in Stockholm. So that Christmas I went to stay with her. She described her suburb as 'Refreshingly Multicultural'. During my stay in her 6th floor flat, there was an armed attack on a cinema, constant police-car sirens, and to top it all - an armed attack on a shopping center by Somalis! There was gunfire and helicopters overhead, and she told me to lie on the floor in case of flying bullets, and crazily said, "Fun, isn't it"? I was glad to fly back to Manchester!

I visited Sweden multiple times during 2014 and 2015, it was very peaceful and the vibe was great. I visited again in the summer of 2023 and it just felt like a different country.

I warned about this in 2015 when 8 suburbs of Stockholm were ablaze with migrant violence. Postal deliveries and sometimes even ambulance service were unavailable in Malmo because it was too dangerous.

I suggest Sweden implement the "Islas Marias" solution used by Mexico. The offenders could be sent to a Swedish island and serve out their sentences there, and then offered the opportunity to return to their country of origin, or remain on the island as un-incarcerated inhabitants. Some employment could be made available, such as making crafts, weaving hammocks, perhaps fishing and smoking their catches, etc. which could be sold on the mainland so that they could purchase things they felt they wanted. On the Islas some prisoners even had their families living with them.

Interesting how none of the solutions discussed include more funding for schools or community support, or resources for families to move away from urban areas. Moving from major urban centers means leaving their cultural group, if that group has brought the toxicity they moved to escape with them. It's not the ultimate solution but it gives a route to keep more people from joining the gangs. Look at the Sicilian communities in the US a century ago, and who all is still in the Mafia circles, and who, like my family, completely cut ties and settled down because they could leave the city.

The problem is not that we don't help them to integrate. An enormous amount of our taxes goes to the integration infrastructure - free living costs and apartments, education and language courses, jobb programs, social programs. Our entire society has been translated, and even the public service tv is now produced in this dumbed down "simple Swedish" in addition to the native language of every possible minority group. If anything we help them too much. The problem is the large number of people who don't want to integrate, who actively target Sweden knowing that here they can get high living standards for free, unconditionally. Our people built this welfare system during many generations to help the poor and homeless, it is now being exploited by people with no connection and no will to give anything back to the country that took them in with open arms. This is welfare tourism, and the result has been a rapid drop in the standards of everything, our country's economic and technical competitiveness, our education system, hospitals, dentists, housing queues ... and as made very obvious for years now: our public safety.

Such a easy question to answer, yet so hard for many people to accept.

Swedish master of laws here, some notes: 1. The (rapidly changing) legal system of old has been operating under the social democratic view of people being a product of the environment. In a high trust and homogeneous society, this has worked somewhat well. The problem isn't the system, but the rapidly changes in society. It can't keep up. 1.2 Mass migration from foreign cultures is the main problem. 2. It's ludacris to blame gang violence and disenfranchisement on failing social services such as schools and housing. On paper we have the best integration on the planet, due to the massive amounts of money we spend on such projects. Migrants are given extremely generous benefits, housing that I myself cannot afford, and access to the most well funded social safety net in the developed world, yet most do not use these tools nor contribute to them. 2.1 Mass migration from foreign cultures is the main problem. 3. The comparison to migration in Germany is flawed since it does not account for per capita migration and the problems the germans themselves are seeing. 3.1 Mass migration from foreign cultures is the main problem. 4. "Harsh labour laws" has nothing to do with unemployment among immigrants. Sweden has a high skill economy where a high school diploma, or the lack of one, wont get you far. There are two things to add to the comparison with Czechia. Out of the 5% foreigners, a fifth are Slovakians (extremely close to Czechs, similar to USA x Canada). Also recently those numbers rose sharply because of the Ukraine war, however, while about 500k refugees moved there (an additional 5%!) they are overwhelmingly females and young children who are much less likely to increase violent crime.

I mean we saw what Seattle turned into, LA, Portland, New York, San Fran, the difference is the culture in America stoked the perpetuation of these systematic issues that come with a lack of Police funding and crime punishment, a lot fast but these issues in Norther Europe have been a long time coming.
