but you have to make plays that kill the blitz, the middle is open, every time, and Shanny Hanny is trying to throw the ball to the outside or do some cute motioning, the best way to deal with the blitz is to literally throw it over the blitz to the open area where the linebacker is supposed to cover. and you don't really need that much time to do that, the ball should be out in 1 second the guy can catch it from 1-3 yards after LoS and run with it. its on Shanahan. you can't blame the oline, otherwise you can just always use that execuse, they had a similar play in the first half where Purdy had a QB roll out and someone else was free running at him, why call that play? you see they are bringing up the heat, but CMC or someone behind those guys let him catch the short pass and run with it. if Kittle, Aiyuk and Deebo can't get the ball, it's not on them, it's on you.

We have seen that it wasn't a Jimmy G problem in the fist Super Bowl or Brock in this one. The two problems are 1) Kyle not being able to learn adjust out of his narrow-mindedness of just sticking to HIS plan & not adapting when it gets shutdown when the game is tight 2) The fact that Kyle is just fascinated by his shiny object skill pieces Ferraris and shops at the dollar store clearance bin for O-Linemen. That combination destroyed ANY chance Jimmy had of winning in 2019 & killed Brock Purdy's chance of winning it at the end. Purdy came through on this drive & we should have won it.

Because the QB sets the protection and when they have more rushers than blockers, the QB has to beat that player. This is the kind of stuff most fans don't know (unless you've played QB, RB, TE, OL) and they end up blaming the OL because fans worship their QB even when he's as bad as Jimmy G lol. Purdy should've changed the protection or called a timeout if he wasn't fooled... He's a 2nd yr QB, he'll get better at this. But the 9 free rushers is 100% a young QB getting fooled by a savvy defensive coordinator.

On that 4th down play Bosa needs to lock in on Mahones...he's not going to catch the RB if it's a handoff, focus on Mahones and thats the game. Kelsey was actually covered by the Safety so thus Mahones has no option but get past Bosa which would have been tough If bosa and honed in on him from the beginning. Sucks, because that would have been a epic ending, Bosa sacking mahones to win the SB.

One note that is missing is that Purdy made a perfect pass on that play. He is about to get smothered by Jones and he puts the ball in play in the back corner of the end zone where it would not be intercepted saving the field goal. Unfortunately, (I think it was) Jennings got held up at the line and did not break to the corner. Not Jennings fault, not Purdy's fault, but if Jennings has seen the trouble his QB was in, he could have broke to corner. If he had, he would probably be the Super Bowl MVP.

Looks like 68 and 74 walked off the field after the play both saying, "I thought you had Jones." This is not really that great of pressure from KC. SF somehow just failed to block SF's best pass rusher right in front of them as he ran on a direct line to the QB. This is really strange. Colossal failure on the most critical play up to this point in the game. Somebody's head was in the wrong place at that moment or they were mistaken on the play call.

It was a designed run option for Purdy. Problem was Chris Jones first goes outside. Then in an instant gets in Purdy face. Also the line backer comes in to fill the gap and 74 has to come back right to block him. Now the hole is gone to run.. Why people don't get it. If Purdy gets just 2 yards. They go for it on 4th down. If they don't get it. The Chiefs are pinned on their own 5 yard line.....And have to drive 95 yards.

I dont even spend two weeks analizing game film and even i knew on 3rd down chiefs are bringing pressure...either a quick screen, draw or a run sweep defeats it. Not sure why shanahan is terrible at adjusting. Dude had it 2nd a 5 near the 2min warning. After having 3 consecutive runs for an average of 5.5yds he decides to pass it on the next two plays?!? Run the ball similar to what you had been doing and that FG wins the game. Everyone knows you have to draw up your best plays to get that first down....instead he does a basic bootleg, (that doesn't fool anyone) and a quick slant pass that is easily blocked...he did similar things in the last SB. Dude never learns. Chiefs were not stopping the run sweeps to the left all game, and u don't go to it when u need 5yds in two plays. Absurd!!

Schwartz needs to go back and watch the tapes. The primary job of Bosa and Young going into this game was to contain Mahomes. On that 4 and 1 Bosa cheated down the line to help with the stop leaving Mahomes free to run for the first down. Just like with the Ravens game, the Chiefs kept the pressure on allowing their opponents to make mistakes. Lots of little mistakes cost the Niners the game. This play by Bosa, the punt, not blocking Jones on 3rd & 4 in O.T. Keep in mind that the Chiefs were making their share of little mistakes. Had Pacheco not recovered his second fumble, he would be the scapegoat of the game.

Just block the guy over you in this situation. The center should call this if they don't have the right protection. This was easy to block, not hard at all. Shouldn't be hard for a Super Bowl team and it being this late in the year. Making things harder on themselves. I would not have passed here certainly with an empty backfield. Why not run? The Chiefs were gassed. It's third and 3 1/2. Get 2 yards and go for it on 4th down if you have to. If lose yards kick the field goal. Very likely you convert. Lining up in a passing formation empty backfield is inviting them to blitz, which they were going to do anyway. If you line up with a McCafferty in the backfield at least you are giving them a look at a potential run on 3rd and 3 1/2. Despite everything if they block it right, even letting the blitzer go and blocking Chris Jones, that gives an extra split second for Purdy to get the ball out of his hands to Jennings or Aiyuk or Kittle. I think they were all open.

Can we some plays break down on Chiefs last drive on where 49ers defense lost the game?

Purdy had a land UP the middle! Tuck and run and then lateral to Kittle if need be. It was there for an elite QB which Brock is not....

I totally disagree with this take of Chiefs winning & 49ers not blowing it. There was a ton of mistakes theyve made & still should of won at the end.

Kyle threw the game… not giving OT rules after extra bye week seems gross incompetence. 1996 Packers, 1995 49ers, 1994 Dallas many teams better than SF 2019 team.

i mean, you can pick out plays like this here and there but bottom line if the 9ers O-line held like the chiefs, 9ers win this game by 2 scores

No Bosa has responsibility to contain on his side. Sorry but running down the line on an opposite side run is reckless and the Chiefs we’re counting on it.

Chris Jones is a free agent. Someone please sign him away from the Chiefs. I’m tired of seeing him wreck the 49ers on critical 3rd downs.😂

Sure looks like the right guard was suppose to move over quickly to block jones. 68 the right tackle was caught in no mans land he was going to get the LB who kittle got by. Bad offense line scheme. That close to goal line just have your line pass block player directly in front of them an have kittle hold lB a few seconds. Many bllame 68 though its a play design fault clearly. Take a risk of a player coming in unblocked an that's exactly what happened

"i thought it was someone elses fault because i never am wrong and thats why i never learn from my mistakes. Ill check the tape and find out who to blame." -Kyle, NFLs greatest OC failure, Shannahan This guys arrogance is beyond recovery. He got his start in the NFL due to nepotism and is incapable of taking responsibility for his massive failures. No one should ever call him an offensive genius/guru ever again. Just talk about how all hes proven is that he will fail when the games matter the most

LMAO triple teaming any defender on the other side in lieu of blocking the Chiefs' best DL unabated to the QB was one of the most idiotic things I've ever seen on the most critical play of the game. You hung your QB out to dry, took too much time, and got cute with a play action fake when you could've just played it straight up and let your play breathe a little. Instead, you gave the Chiefs their dynasty opportunity on a silver platter and they ATE big time. That was a soul crusher, and you can ask any Seahawks fan about one of those moments in a Super Bowl unfortunately... Stop getting cute and run the damn ball. You had 2 plays to gain 4 yards for a 1st down with the best RB in the league. What's worse is that the Chiefs were a better defense against the pass than the run this season and you opted for a play towards their strength instead. You beat KC on the ground. The math is not hard. Could have just bled the clock out after that or scored. Either way KC would've been on their heels...Oh well. Classic Shanahan honestly. My .02.

Come on guys. Niners D locked Pat up in 1st half by shutting #87 down for 1 catch, 1 yard. Niners self destructed & lost Greenlaw and could have put them out of reach of the Jesus QB Maholmes. Would love to have seen what you all would have talked about if jesus QB didn’t win….you would have been screwed.

Still the concept on every play is to protect the quarterback so he has time to throw the ball. On this play there was a gaping hole for Chris Jones ( KC ) defensive lineman to come after Purdy. And with that Purdy was in distress to throw the ball earlier than he wanted and not connecting with any receivers. Kyle’s offensive scheme plays don’t work all the time. And in this case a blown opportunity to seal the deal. And win that 6th Lombardi Trophy!!

The offense scored 3 points in OT, defense blew the game with Steve Wilks zero blitz. I’ve said it before, Wilks suck and he will cost us the game. And he did in the biggest game. It’s partly on you Lynch.
