I prayed one night to know which bible to read. First thing next morning at work someone asked me to sort through a box of unwanted items left at the office by an ex-employee. The last item in the box was a KJV with gold leaf pages and special leather bound zipped cover. When I unzipped and opened it, the bookmark was at the beginning of The Book of Luke, and my name is Luke. The most special gift I have ever been gifted in my Life, I will cherish it forever😇

For those wanting a more detailed look at the King James bible, there is a book entitled: "God's Secretaries: The Making of the King James Bible". Well written, with a lot of information about the times and society King James I lived in. This was also the time of William Shakespear. A time when the English language was very poetic. That is reflected in both Shakespear and the KJV Bible. It is the beauty of that language that makes the King James Bible, and one of the reasons it is still used today. Forget the translation accuracy, listen to the words and style. You don't have to be a Christian to enjoy it.

There is a great book called "God's Secretaries" that describes in detail the creation of the King James Bible. (Spoiler Alert: There is much about this process that was not passed down to history.)

While commonly called the King James Bible, its proper title is the Authorized Version as it was the only version authorized to be used in English churches. It still is legally - Parliament is behind the times.

A nice thing to read is the translators text "to the reader" in the beginning, recommended! Nice insights and great to get a window into the thinking of those days, of course it´s from the standpoint of very educated men and believers. They mostly followed an earlier translation done by William Tyndale, a guy who was murdered for translating the bible into English. Tyndale had written a letter condemning Henry VIII's attempt to get a divorce, and enraged the king. Naturally, king James wasn't going to let Tyndale's name be put in the credits section.

It doesn't even matter anymore folks. We live in the age of increased knowledge and can use computers and internet to pursue the Greek and Hebrew text. If you own an NIV (I certainly wouldn't) you can still check the Greek,Aramaic, Hebrew even Latin. See what the Word is really trying to tell you.

One point about the 'popularity' of the KJV. By the King's decree, the KJV was the single Authorized version of the Bible to be read in the Church of England. Which essentially said it was the only Bible allowed in use. So popular or not, it was the Bible in use by the CoE until this century, and that 'authorization' may still be in effect.

The issues he listed were printing errors not translation issues. While the King James Version's English is dated, it does very accurately reflect the original languages. Many of the words are considered archaic today, but they are very good choices to translate the Hebrew or Greek. While not absolutely perfect, it is just about the most accurate translation of the traditional Hebrew and Greek texts in English. But if you can't get past the old English the New King James or English Standard Version are good translations also.

It's a masterpiece.

If you read in the old testament there was a ( and im paraphrasing) a king that wanted some early writing destroyed, God told the writer to re-write it again. Again the king had it destroyed This happened a few times and was even written differently before finally it survived. You see if God created heaven and earth surely he is capable of providing scripture. Remember in Mark it says heaven and earth shall pass away but my words shall not pass away. The bible does not contradict itself. Its the most popular book for a reason. 66 books to be exact. But it wasn't meant for un believers. There is undeniable proof of healing, spiritual proof that God lives today. The king James bible is the word of God. If it was revised numerous times till it was right then Amen.

I love Wm Tyndales translation

Well, since my last suggestion sparked such a big debate, I'll risk another one: I'd like a segment explaining when and how the concept of Satan being good and God being evil came to be. I know of the Gnostics, who believe in the Demiurge, who is said to be evil, but I don't think that it being the same as God and Satan are the same thing. I'm just really curious about this. And, for the record, I mean the concept of God being evil and Satan being good in media (literature, prose, etc) came to be; I know that religious texts and believes maintain God is good and Satan is evil. On that note, though, I propose a third suggestion: an exploration into when the concept that the head god of a religion must be all-powerful, all-knowing, and purely benevolent came to be; I know that it surprises quite a few people now to learn that that wasn't the case with most pre-Christian religions, so I'm interested to know if Christianity/Judaism/Islam came up with the idea, or if there was a precedent for it before them.

It all sounds like William Shakespeare had the last say in the exact wording, which I`m sure King James would have approved, if not requested. Bill being his favourite wordsmith.

When door to door preachers knock on your door wanting to preach from the Bible ask them which version. You them have to patiently explain how it has been rewrote several times, usually there out of there quick without having to be rude.

You will notice the KJV gets attacked by everyone, and it's almost exclusively the "KJV people" that attack all the others - this should make you take notice. This is not about "KJV" only - it's about God's Preserved Word only. Those who adhere to KJV believe that God preserved His written Word, every Word, as promised. Those who attack the KJV do not. And THAT is the real difference between the KJV and anti-KJV crowd, which again should get the attention of those who are truly born again by the Spirit of God. To any born again believer in God, it should be a given that they'd like to have, as accurately as possible, exactly what God had written in the Scriptures, word for word. They would rather not have instead a paraphrased copy by someone letting you know instead in their own words what God said, or even corrupted versions where things were deceptively changed, added or deleted. Well God did promise to preserve His Word, word for word, and many do not seem to realize it. Matthew 5.18 *_"For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."_* A jot or tittle is the smallest part of one letter in the Hebrew alphabet, which distinguishes it from other letters. Psalms 12.6-7 *_"The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever."_* God right there promised to preserve His Words. That means every one of them. Matthew 4.4 *_"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."_* Every word. Not every paraphrased version of what someone says that God said. God even warns about adding to or taking away from God's Word, so any claim there are new revelations that came after the NT is also deception and goes against God's Word. *_"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."_* Revelation 22.18-19 *_"Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you."_* Deuteronomy 4.2 *_"Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar."_* Proverbs 30.5-6 *_"What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it."_* Deuteronomy 12.32 *_"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."_* Galatians 1.6-9 *_"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."_* Matthew 24:24 So in the Greek and Hebrew, we have faith that God has preserved His Word, word for word and we should want such a copy in our own language if at all possible. Perversions were already being attempted to be inserted even back in the days of the apostles, and there are letters that warn about it. So there have long been perverted Greek and Hebrew texts, but they've been marked and avoided then as well, hence hardly used. In the past century, more and more English "bibles" have been showing up, creating great confusion (God is not the author of confusion). So concerning all these English "bibles", what you'll notice is most "scholars" or people who have an opinion on the matter will instead act like any English Bible you pick is fine - this alone shows - such a person does not think God preserved His Word - such a person does not want God's Word, word for word Scholar or not, this makes their opinions worthless as they've already shown themselves to be unbiblical. Since in the past hundred years or so hundreds of English bibles have come onto the scene, it's clear deception is the spiritual motive whether people realize it or not. They often say different things, which makes it look like God lied and did not preserve His Word. When you compare English Bibles, it's clear which one is closest in English to His preserved Word we have in Greek/Hebrew and so on: the King James Bible. It's not about being "King James only" it's about *"God's preserved Word only".* Those who think any Bible is fine also do not believe God can or did preserve His Word, which is the real difference and why people hence attack KJV. The name "King James Bible" doesn't mean King James wrote it. But God did promise to preserve His Word and it's trivial for Him to do so, in the original languages. Most English bibles are "translated" from already corrupted texts - one need only compare English verses to see which ones are corrupted, and the KJV is the only one left standing. We should want God's preserved Word. Consider this as one of thousands of proofs: Jn 6:47 KJV "He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." NIV "He who believes has everlasting life." NASB "He who believes has eternal life." NWT "He that believes has everlasting life." NLT "anyone who believes has eternal life." ESV "whoever believes has eternal life." So which one do you think is God's preserved Word? A Bible that says that a person believing on Christ has everlasting life, or a person believing (on who knows what) has everlasting life? Do you really think God's Word would have "on me" missing? Of course not. And speaking of how critical God's Word is, even God points out we need to live by EVERY WORD of God. But of course the corrupted Greek/Hebrew texts will remove things like this as well, since they are in effect an attack on God and His Word. Lk 4:4 KJV "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." NIV "Man does not live on bread alone." NASB "Man shall not live on bread alone." NWT "Man must not live by bread alone." ESV ‘Man shall not live by bread alone.’” So I humbly ask Christians to consider looking only at God's preserved Word. This in turn would mean in English the best by far for many centuries: King James Bible. May God bless!

Yay! The KJV Bible is my third favorite Bible translation, my first favorite is the NLT Bible. Typos in Bible translations are hilarious. (I say this as a Christian, myself.)

I always remember a funny encounter I had about the King James version. I was talking with someone about the better translation available from the ABS Standard version translation. This is a much more accurate translation of the Greek. This individual (member some conservative sect) said that if King James English was good enough for Jesus then it should be good enough for us. Goes to show there there are still many illiterate people even in the 20th cent (time of the conversation). Yea verily I say unto you, I stil laugh at this conversation. Made my day!

In our modern world newer translation are deemed more readable and understandable but the old king James is the must beautiful. “ Thou shalt not” has an air of authority modem translations lack. I’m not a king James only kind of guy but it’s like comparing a modern keyboard to a Steinway. New boards are very cool but it really doesn’t compare to a 9 foot Steinway .

The first Bibles translated into English was The John Wycliffe Bible was completed in 1382. The next Bible that was translated into English was the Tyndale Bible that was completed in 1532. They were written before the King James Version of the Holy Bible.

This will blow your mind. Get a King James Version Bible. Look up Psalm chapter 46. From the first word of Chapter 46 (God) count 46 words into the text; take note of the 46th word. From the last word of Chapter 46 (Selah) count 46 words backwards, into the text (in the opposite direction we read) and again, take note of the word. Put the two words together and what do you have? Shakespeare is acknowledged to have been one the learned men that worked on the Authorized translation of scripture into the English language at the Kings expense and command. Shakespeare was born in 1565. The translation was completed and the first edition published in 1611. Shakespeare, by the way, was 46 years old when the translation was completed.(!) In case you think he or anyone else manipulated the translation to produce this eye opening combination of words into a name, using two identical numbers that match both the chapter number and the age of the man whose name is produced....think again. The intent and meaning of the translation is accurate involving one simply translated verb and one noun . The context of the chapter flows beautifully. The odds of this occurring by chance are staggering but....that is the only conclusion that can be reasonably drawn.

It would have been be interesting if they talked about the history of the translation after the time period which the video covers.

Simon, you should have told us more about the guys who made up the committee. I was led to understand that maybe 2 of them were familiar with the Hebrew language and almost none could read it. This puts a major damper on a major work.
