*@Jaxton29* I think the look was more "Did you see that move?". It wasn't a travel at all... He didn't end his dribble until he touched the ball with both hands at which point his right foot was already touching the floor so that doesn't count as 1 of the 2 allowed steps. Then he stepped left (step 1), stepped right (step 2) and then launched off that same right foot without taking another step. Legal 2 step move. Not every move that looks a little funny is a travel.

@@bmsuperstar1 This wasn't a travel in any era that allowed 2 steps after ending their dribble which is still the rule. “It’s a gather step” activities
@jeromedevecais27516 күн бұрын
Yes maybe
@justsayin669Сағат бұрын
*@user-to4qz8vq4i* There is no such thing as a "gather step" in the rulebook or by enforcement... People using that unofficial term is the reason why so many people don't understand the simple traveling rule. There are simply live dribble steps and there are post-dribble steps, nothing in between. The "gather" (not "gather step") is simply another word for a player doing an action to end his dribble at a exact moment as the rulebook explains. In this case Gobert didn't "gather" (end) his dribble until he touched the ball with both hands at which point his right foot was already touching the floor so that doesn't count as 1 of the 2 allowed steps. Then he stepped left (step 1), stepped right (step 2) and then launched off that same right foot without taking another step. Legal 2 step move. Not every move that looks a little funny is a travel.

Clearly, refs have tossed out the rules on travel and carry. Why?
@carlfrye156613 күн бұрын
Because many of today's players probably couldn't play by the rules and would argue constantly.
@anubis403213 күн бұрын
I like the no carry call lets players be more creative
@peterstark456213 күн бұрын
Because years ago, the league set a mandate to increase the scoring output of the players. It reached to this point that they're letting go of travelling, ball carrying, and moving screens to make it easier for players to defeat their defenders. I watched a game from the 90s a week ago and the refs called like 3 travelling violations, a couple of moving screens, and a ball carrying violation in that game. And i thought to myself that these calls will never be called in today's nba.
@Chairsium13 күн бұрын

Gobert stops his dribble with his right foot on the floor, so that's his gather step. (Remember, it's when the dribble ends, not when the last dribble is taken.) Then he steps with his left foot and then his right foot. That's a legal gather-1-2. So not a travel.
