Once neighbors to the Washington's at Mount Vernon and ascended to the Presidency themselves, the Monroe family for were early icons in American history. Having settled Pope's Creek in 1642, more than a century before George Washington, they too were once just pioneers. Who knew their connection to the land in the wild woods of West Virginia.

I totally agree! It is just hard to believe how you can hit a site so many times and still swing over the same area on a different season and still hear signals you didn't hear before. Four of us swung this spot in past detections. How can you miss a coin....but we sure did. This one is beautiful too. Thanks Lori.

That little round thing with the tabs on it seems like a wood bore hole plug. I have seen those exactly like that on the legs of church pews. They covere the holes in the legs that housed the anchor bolts.

Todd, these are my kind of sites. The old relics, the history, the beautiful soil, and the large copper is by far, one that is in the best condition of any that I have seen. I also would not give up on the surrounding farm fields. On the Eastern Shore, there would always be one, two, or even three, share cropper homes on a farm that size. Even better, many times I find an earlier starter home that is usually rich with relics that are older. It is not always easy to find these old homesites, but if you study the oldest maps of the area, you may find one listed, or many times you can just use your common sense of where the best place to put a home would be. Of course, I have seen you do this as well, and that's field walking for pieces of old brick and pottery. Many times, I prefer the adjacent fields to the farmyard because it usually means less trash. What I mean by trash is pull tabs and bottle tops because I enjoy the good iron signals as well. Another very good video, and if God's willing, I hope to see more of them as the fall approaches. God bless

Hey Tom, I wanted to get to your comment upon public release. Over the years I have uncovered many copper coins, and none have I found this old and of this quality condition. Ironically I have swung this area of the yard many times as have others I've taken with me to the site. It just shows you that soil conditions affect an object being heard. It also should let you know that a site can hold great artifacts yet when you are certain you have found all the good stuff. I plan on going back yet again......have a blessed day brother!

Good history lessons are gold. Love the Scottish connection with the Munro clan as I celebrated this past weekend at the 44th Celtic Festival at Loon Mountain, NH with the wearing and blessing of the tartans and the Highland games. MacKinnon of MacKinnon is my heritage from 1311 A.D. My ancestors came to America in 1745 in and about this same time period...Mar sin leat!

Thanks buddy. Tony we hit this site so many times and at least 4 of us had swung this small yard many times. It just shows you that some signals may not sound until conditions are just right. Keep this in mind on your permissions. I did not plan on ever going back to this site but had I not, I would have missed the nicest Copper I've ever found.
@JusDirtfishin
@JusDirtfishin 11 ай бұрын
I agree with that. Doesn’t hurt to hit a spot many times. Either with a different setting or a different coil if you choose to as well. But like you said weather can change the ground conditions so the relics pop more.

Hello from Knoxville my friend I’m back. Sorry I’m so late watching. Great video congrats on the coin that’s awesome. We drove to the north entrance and your cousin wasn’t there. I tried to find him but the girls working the entrance didn’t know him. We drove through Gardner. It looked like a old western town. He could have been working another entrance. The park is amazing. Stay safe say hello to the family for me.

Welcome back Steve! Just past the Stone Arch Gate if going into the park, the line of buildings on the left are the park maintenance buildings. He manages the maintenance of all the park buildings and facilities and most of the day he is out and about, but the mornings he is there in his office in the Admin building there. I can't put a lot of info on here publicly to protect his privacy. If I had your email, I could have sent you more specifics including his phone number. No worries though I'm glad you had a great trip out there. They do have a rodeo in Gardner each year. My son panned for Gold and Gems in the river there below the town of Gardner on our last trip. My cousins house can be seen crossing the river. He has a deck overlooking the river and pretty visible. On his deck you feel you are right on top of the water. We enjoyed our visit and he loves it there.

Thank you for your service to our nation. In my case, I was never a Contractor and am with the Government as an Army Corps civilian even to this day, but I learned through the narcissistic man who caused me grief, there is a lot of misconception and ignorance and it is best not to argue with or prove anything to anyone who doesn't need to know. Thanks for your comment sir!

Was he a Contractor for a private company or was he with the Government? The only reason I ask is because in my case, I was defamed by a very public individual over this and he got it totally wrong and has no idea what I do in the Government as a Government employee, only snippets of what I have told him which I learned was too much for that narcissist. Your grandfather served the nation and helped our country in the time of need. Thank you sir!
