Mia's an excellent teacher and has interesting content on her channel. She obviously enjoys teaching. (BTW: Sorrir - you CAN roll the rr. There are PLENTY of areas that aren't Lisbon or Porto that don't clear their throats to sound the r)

Thank you for your nice comment! It’s true what you say: you can definitely roll the r because in some places (like in the north of Portugal), the r is rolled. I did explain this, but it’s just too much to fit in in one video hehe. Thank you once again! ☺️☺️

What a fun and informative video!🎉 Had a great time just following this being a poor student of the Portuguese language myself. PT pronunciation is very challenging from my perspective-let alone words that sound almost the same with very different meanings. 🤷 I have to say Kalie kills it! I’m nowhere near her pronunciation proficiency. Some day…maybe. She’s my inspiration. 🙏🏻 I found PT pronunciation of pizza to be very surprising. As an Italian, I’ll always pronounce it as an Italian. 🇮🇹 It’s curious though how ‘pizza’ in Portuguese sounds like (to me anyway) how many pronounce the Italian city ‘Pisa’ (where I went to school BTW-weird coincidence). Actually, locals pronounce Pisa in a slightly different way with a soft ‘s.’ Topic for another day. 🤷‍♀️ Loved this video! ❤

I enjoyed this, but like in the English language when you teach someone how to province the worse THE you get them to start by placing the tip of their tongue on the roof of their mouth and then drop to get the proper pronunciation. Correct Portuguese pronunciation instruction can benefit from how to hold you mouth, tongue an where the sound comes from. Think of the word carro and concentrate on the two main mouth positions and how to produce the sound for both parts “Ca” and “rro”. The position of the mouth and the way usou produce the sound is important to attain perfect pronunciation. My 2 cents worth.

@@karensnyder4499 "Pau", yes is a stick in all contexts. But in some very rare context "pau" is the same of pen|s. But is not a bad word, to offend we use the bad word "car...lho". If a man say "o meu pau", and normally we say to only other male friends or to his girlfriend, yes he's referring to his p€nis and is not a bad word.

K - this needs to be said - learning Portuguese is "ABOVE AVERAGE IN DIFFICULTY." No one here is giving merit to the title on the level of difficulty and that's what cued up my curiosity to begin with. Universally, all comments here are luke-warm in approval. If you are an English-speaking person, Portuguese is above average in difficulty to memorize and properly pronounce. Note-to-Self = hard work ahead. This is not an easy language to navigate and acquire. Anyone who has spent time practicing will tell you All local Portuguese will tell you over and over "Portuguese is a hard language to learn." The word for bottles is a perfect example = Garrafões. You will use parts of your nose and the back of your throat in ways you have neverrrrrrrrr used before. Last, there's an accent above the vowel "O" for the translated word of "Bottles." Well, get used to nearly eight different accents above all vowels. That's just for starters. I still feel like a Butcher and I've been at this for over a year. I would characterize the experience as drinking vinegar compared to everyone else drinking Port or wine as the average or standard of language learning difficulty. It's that hard. Incidentally and FWIW - I already speak Spanish, French and Japanese including my native American. I dare anyone to prove this is a walk in the park or comparable in difficulty, it's not. Best of luck. Due respect to the Professora, I am a Fan and have viewed her video's as well.
