Answer: Gliders ? they have highest Aspect Ratio wings which increases wing span and to reduce the affect of wing tip vortices

Hi Joe. You even mentioned the rivet heads as source of drag, important point which many people wouldn't think about. Me as an aeronautical engineer I missed the interference drag which can be reduced by rounding the edges between vertical fin and fuselage for example. I like your explanations and attitude very much. Regards from Hungary

7:38 I think this is just a test setup. I assume the final design will be located where the beacon light has always been. A test setup in a cabin window makes it easier accessible for monitoring and altering the setup.

Captain Joe, you missed what is perhaps the biggest drag-saving tool: Long wingspan (which, for a given wing area, can be translated as high aspect ratio). You mentioned the wingtip devices all of which work by increasing the effective aerodynamic span of the wing, and you forgot about the span of the wing itself.

To answer the quiz, I think it's non of the winglets you stated in your video, but the answer is the entire wing profile of the Dreamliner. The whole wing curves up once the weight of the aircraft "hangs" on the wings, plus the fact that the wingtips end in a perfect point. All this ends up making all the air flow naturally towards the tips, end leaving the tips with absolute minimal drag.

Fun fact: the cars of the primarily american motorsport NASCAR (which stands for the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing) which falls under the broader curtain of stock car racing (even though the cars arent stock anymore) use NACA ducts for the purpose of aiding with cooling off the driver as stock cars dont have AC as their purpose built race cars and temperature is typically 30-40 degrees F higher than outside air temperature, so if the temperature outside is 60 degrees F, it's normally about 90-100 degrees inside the car

Hi Joe, the antenna displayed at 6:25 is not a wifi antenna. It's a satcom antenna, such as Ka band or older SBB antennae. The connectivity devices (wireless access point and network management hardware) are mounted inside the aircraft.

For me personally, the Boeing 737 MAX has one of the best designs in the tip of its semi-wing; since by separating the winglet itself into two, the drag effect is lower and consequently its performance is up to 16% less in fuel consumption, making it one of the most environmentally friendly single-aisle airplanes. Greetings Captain Joe

3:30 Based on my diehard beating heart for F1 and my aviation knowledge, I'd assume the answer to least induced drag is something that would be flat and wide with an even progression like how a DRS wing on the rear of an F1 car opens up to reduce drag an increase speed or how a low downforce rear wing is usually shallow flat and has very few little curves in general. So a straight wing that's uniform across the chord to the wingtip with no wing fences or tips, similar to a glider, or a swept-wing aircraft when the wings are fully out like an F111, F14 in take-off wing configuration minus any flaps or slats (if applicable)

Speaking of the flaps if you don't know what they are they are on the wings that creates lift and more speed so the plane can take off quickly but it also creates drag so the more flaps input you do the more drag and the speed will start to decrease and planes when they land they do flaps 3 now for the Airbus a321 through people do flaps 4/ full and it will have a tail strike so Airbus I think said " Pilots who are flying the Airbus 321 should use flaps 3" I don't know if they actually said that but the 321 is so long that if you would normally do a landing you will get a tail strike and no protectors are under there and I think planes can survive doing a tail strike I don't know.

I can say gliders because they have bigger wing span and better aerodynamics which ensures a smooth aerodynamic flow in flight

Evening Captain Joe, could you please advice me, if you have uploaded any video, explaining the difference, between ground speed and true air speed, of an aircraft ??

True airspeed is the speed of the aircraft with respect to air, whereas groundspeed is the speed with respect to ground (ie distance/time) An easier way to understand the concept is someone running on a treadmill. The speed the treadmill shows is like your true airspeed. But your groundspeed is your speed with respect to ground, which in this case is zero (as physical distance travelled is zero)
