I really want to thank you. I have spent the past four years, maybe more, looking for a vocal coach who could actually really explain these subdivisions of mixed voice. Most either never touched the subject, or gave very little explanation when they did touch it. I never thought that I would find the answers with some kind of a gospel instructor. I guess it's highly appropriate to say "God bless you". I am going to be a permanent subscriber now.

I have learned SO MUCH from you and have grown SO MUCH. Like seriously guys, if you are struggling with your voice and with growth and are stuck somewhere go and subscribe to her lessons. Of course, it’s not an overnight change... it’s a process of working on the exercises daily and weekly. I’m in the middle of a career/job change right now so I’ve stopped my subscription now but once I’m settled, I’m going to subscribe again. I am so thankful for her. My voice has completely changed and grown because of her.

What about when you need to have power in a head mix -- belting in the last chorus or bridge of a song that is clearly in the head voice note range -- example last alternate melody in the chorus of "Reckless Love" in C.

I would suggest more of a power mix for that - bringing more chest voice into it!

My chest voice doesn't exactly sound like my voice either, but I am trying to strengthen my kinda talking/ singing voice that's really light and breathy and hard to push to sing loud is this the right thing to do?

Hey! I'm not sure I understand the question-but yes, we do want our singing voice to sound similar to our speaking voice. Feel free to re-phrase your question if that doesn't answer it!

@@worshipvocalist Sorry! What I meant was that my talking/singing voice doesn't exactly fit the description most vocal trainers say it should. My normal voice is super soft when I sing... that's why I use my chest voice slot more. It's almost addicting to always get the powerful sound the worship team needs, but I always have to flip my voice to sing high then, it can cut out mid songs and i feel as if I'm always straining!! Should I train my soft talking voice to sing louder and more powerfully, or should i train my "strong and loud" voice to sing higher?? Thank you:)

Should we always sing in mix?
@worshipvocalist
@worshipvocalist 3 жыл бұрын
Most/all of the time, yes! Although there are different tonal qualities to the mix that we want to achieve in order to create a dynamic journey in our songs (ex head mix in the higher range, especially for lighter moments in a song).

Great lesson!! Sometimes it also feels like same voice but instead of different places, it’s just different volume. Like from full power (chesty mix) to lighter volume (heady mix). ??? Volume or changing these mixes is a big issue for me. I tend to sing things at full power and tire out by the end of a hard song (like Freedom, This is a Move, etc). Id love a lesson on mapping out a song dynamically to be able to make it to the end strongly every time!

My biggest struggle is moving from chest to head when reaching for higher notes. 😰My mix goes away and my voice breaks and cracks and I can't sustain the same power and "hit" the note. I sing a lot of tenor because I have a pretty strong and heavy chest sound. But want to be able to sing a full song in a wide range without the drastic change (think lauren daigle) in volume and note quality.

@@ambrosiacrump5781 - I hear ya! Definitely a very common issue, but what you want to do is very achievable, with the right tools and techniques. If you haven't already been through my courses at www.theworshipvocalist.com, that's definitely what I would recommend!
