From what I heard, the adults weren't teaching the kids anything directly, it was more an indirect allowance of behaviour. The older meerkats let the kids run across the road without much care, similar to humans before we had reliable health care and understanding of disease and child life expectancy was low. There is little reason to think they will survive, so why care too much about them? As humans, our behaviour towards the next generation has changed significantly in the last few hundred years, and thank goodness for that. For the animal kingdom, largely due to human endeavour and most likely to their complete bewilderment and incapacity to cope, the same has become drastically shorter. Maybe the one thing we have done to aid the animal kingdom is to remove some predators that would otherwise have been a threat, but this is a benefit overshadowed by our detriment to their situation.

Good thing too. We would not have known she was there otherwise. Longest I have seen her sit quietly.

Except there is no loss of morality with other animals, because they don't have any, they are amoral. Almost entirely because morality is a social human construct.

Meerkats never had any morality to lose. They've always been at the same base level on that front.

Seems an odd comment. He was at the time of the recording a reasonably successful comedian and had been a radio DJ for some time. There are only so many people who meet the requirements to be on this style of comedy show, which is why you see them come up again again. Phil Jupitus was after a team captain on such a show for quite a few years. As to why he is confident enough to be smug, again at the time he was a successful comedian, radio DJ and TV presenter, all of which require a certain level of confidence, which might lead to or be thought to lead to an impression of smugness.

@@davidmurrell5143there is always an outpouring of hate for Jupitus under every video he shows up in. I have never found out what he said to trigger the snowflakes, but the fact that they never actually say what it was suggests that it’s the far right snowflakes, as the far left ones tend to be quick to point out what triggered them. The closest thing I have seen that might be the cause is he had a go at Thatcher once. But it’s probably something I have not seen. Maybe he tried to talk about women or some minority as if they were human? That’s the usual trigger.
